Time: Late afternoon Date: April 7th, 2015 Thung-pin, thung-pin, thung-pin echoed the basketball on the asphalt court as Ros dribbled it. The teen was something dangerously close to nerd with his love of the written word and tendency to use words that typically would only be seen on a SAT prep list. He was also from Syracuse, New York, and basketball was major. His previous school's gymnasium had more hoops than a Claire's. Between units in gym class all the students, male, female, would be plopped in the gym where inevitably four games of basketball would be going on simultaneously, making it difficult, though not always impossible to keep track of who was on which team. Before he got his glasses Ros had no chance of making a shot based upon talent. Anytime he managed to do so in the past had been through a matter of pure luck, and as such he was hardly a first pick for any team. Ros still would most likely be spending most of the game waiting for someone to pass him the ball. He was tallish, but the air of un-athletic hung around him like body odor at a high school pep rally. There was no sense of confidence as he dribbled, no swagger that he had noticed everyone in those crazy days of basketball had. It was just the casual ease of someone who was doing something to pass the time. Ros had nothing against sports, to an extent. Professionals he felt did not need as much publicity and payment as they got, and that there was no need to televise the games. Most of what you saw was commercial breaks, and the Super Bowl was an excellent example of that. To the teen a sport was nothing more than a game to have fun with. He was more interested in reading biographies about professional basketball players than become the next Carmello Anthony. March Madness had died out, but the weather was nice and staying inside all the time was surprisingly not the bookworm's ideal. He did like to get out every now and then, and Ros didn't avoid physical exertion. Green eyes glanced quickly upwards through his glasses lens to make sure that the basket had not changed position. Going to a school filled with students who could do everything from making personal armor to looking like a human chicken did mean that there were some out of the ordinary events that happened, but the net on the court should not be moving even here. It was a habit of his from before Ros had a bow and arrow shoved into his hands to work on his aim. Some remnant of his brain still did not trust that the position of his target to have altered somehow. The ball was dribbled twice more, foot was planted, and Ros took his shot, making sure to follow through. It bounced against the backboard, slightly to the left of the target box, or whatever that square right above the metal rim was called, and did a returning arch roughly in Ros's direction. He did have to jog after it, his aim nowhere near perfect. Ros certainly was not going to be on an professional team, nor even a college one. For having just a little bit of fun Ros's skill level was perfectly fine. And there was no competitive aspect to his little game. At the moment he was just playing by himself. Any sort of game that he could think of with basketball needed at least two people. At least he could seize the opportunity that this nice weather offered and work on his three pointers, or jumpshots, or just his aim in general. |

Before Kitty had seen anyone playing Basketball on the courts on the mansion grounds she heard the unmistakable thudding and pinging that echoed throughout the courtyard. It immediately gave Kitty flash backs to a simpler time when she herself was an X-Student, along side her BFFs Bobby Drake and Doug Ramsey but the games of basketball between them were nothing like the one she had heard in the distance. A game between Doug and Kitty unusually resulted in Bobby freezing the inside of the ball making it near impossible to dribble, While Doug would get distracted trying to read braille within the balls bumps. But those days were gone especially with Bobby making the move outside of the Mansion and the X-Men all together to take up residence and join Alex Summers X-Factor team. Doug was still very much around however sometimes more so than Kitty wanted him to be. However as Kitty continued to dream back on years past she found herself being drawn closer to the echoing of the basketball bouncing off the black top until she was able to deduce Ros Sampson otherwise known as Pyrrhic, Undoubtedly named after the King Pyrrhic who waged war against the Roman Army winning a number of battles but all of his wins came at far too great a cost. She watched from a distance as he chucked up what Bobby would have called a 'Brick' Kitty didn't understand the basketball lingo or jargon but she assumed a brick was just a bad shot that didn't go in the hoop. As Ros gave chase to the ball before it bounced away she was now standing on the court with him. “Hey at least you hit the thinger.” Kitty said in an attempt to get his attention. Her accuracy on the court was never anything to brag about most of the time she was laughing too much as Bobby barred down on her playing defense which caused a lack of focus on the hoop and ultimately she would just tossed up a hail mary and hope for the best. Kitty still wasn't entirely all that familiar with Pyrrhic as he was only a just student and had he had only recently joined the craziness when he arrived at the mansion more or less a year or so go. “How's it going?” Kitty asked in follow up. |

Elle had already made it to New York after school, dropping off the mini-mutant with his dad, back in a flash thanks to that wonderful teleporter thingy she didn't really understand. She'd needed to attend a class later than normal today, and now that she'd taken care of it, she found herself making excuses to stick around even longer. So, she'd changed into her gym clothes (actual sweats, not the flashy uniform) and decided to go for a jog. Just a quick few laps around the school. Then maybe walk a few more. She certainly didn't want to stay late at the school just because it had been so long since she'd been here at night. Elle had only stayed here for a year or so, it wasn't like she liked the place. It was just easier to stretch your legs here than in the middle of the city. That was all. Totally. Eager for any sort of distraction to extend her jog, she spotted a few familiar faces at one of the basketball courts. That kinda nerdy guy that had gone on the school camping trip, and one of the almost-X-Men. She knew as much about her as anyone else at the school. Probably friends with Sarah, Clarice and Andy. "Hey, Sampson." Elle had meandered towards the court as Kitty walked onto it, arriving after they'd shared their first few words. "So, how bad's she beatin' you?" She smirked, looking over Ros and the basketball, then turning her grin towards the older girl. |

Having successfully caught the rebound Ros turned to face Ms. Pryde. He had seen her around the school but didn't have much association with her. Some adults he enjoyed discussing literature with, and could do so for hours. At Ms. Moonstar's suggestion he had tried out Mr. Rasputin as a mentor, but the man had a young child and Ros tried not to be a burden to the man. The teen tried to be respectful to all adults, and there might be some distancing as he kept in mind that he was a teenager and should probably interact with those near his age. While not a senior citizen, Ms. Pryde did have more years on her than Ros and as such was not in his immediate circle of daily interactions. He couldn't decide for a minute just how formal he should be with Ms. Pryde. The fact that she called the backboard the "thinger" helped. Any adult who wanted to be taken seriously did not use what was known as "Buffy speak". "Any day now I'll get a call from the Bulls, I'm sure that they need a new Jordon," Ros joked. There weren't too many names that he knew when it came to the professional basketball teams, most of who he knew was with college, so every year there was some new names to remember. Stats were only really important if you had a fantasy team and wanted to keep track of how they were doing. Professionals in the NBA changed occasionally, but Ros did not care to follow it. Michael Jordon was a name that everyone knew, even if they didn't like basketball. The man was legendary for his skills on the court and for a subpar acting experience in a partially animated movie. "I'll have to turn them down of course. Still have high school to finish and I'm sure my parents would like me to go to college before I consider a life on the road playing b-ball." An eyebrow was raised as he dribbled the basketball in place, a silent question of if she would like to join him or not. Ros wouldn't consider himself a competitive sort. Not unless there was a prize truly worth winning, and even then he would rather work with someone to get to the goal than against them. It was part of the reason why he had enjoyed the capture the flag tournament. But when there's only two people on a basketball court there wasn't much chance for a cooperative game play. You could play catch with a baseball, but there wasn't anything like that to Ros's knowledge when it came to basketball. "Unless you didn't want to know how my game is. In that case I'm passing my classes, I've improved my aim and managed to not pass out with my last presentation. Importance being in that order." The ball was balanced on his hip and Ros extended a hand. If Ms. Pryde wanted to play a game against him he was going to be sportsmanlike about the entire thing, starting with giving her a friendly handshake. Even if she didn't want to play it was polite to offer her a hand and introduce himself. Not everyone was into playing games, even if it was with someone of little skill level. Ms. Pryde might have just come over to watch for a little bit. Ros hoped that it wasn't like that. For one he really would enjoy playing with someone, and secondly he didn't perform well when people were watching him. "I'm Ros by the way. I know I've seen you around the school but we haven't really met or anything." They were joined by another person, one that Ros recognized from the camping trip he had gone on last year. Elle was her name if he was right. Again it was someone that he did not have a great amount of interaction with, but he knew her at least a little bit better than Ms. Pryde. She was probably aware of how he could open his mouth and the dictionary would pour out. There was no pressure to impress Elle though and Ros had no problems talking with either one of the ladies who had joined him on the court. "She hasn't slaughtered me yet, but we haven't started to do anything. Did you want to join?" |

When Ros had turned around with the ball in hand he joked about awaiting the call from the Chicago Bulls, Ironically enough Kitty Pryde's hometown team having grown up in Deerfield, Illinois less than an hour from the heart of Chicago only a short 20 something mile drive down I-94. “Say what you want about MJ. But Scottie Pippen was the glue that held those teams together. I mean sure Jordan had all the points, and awards and everything but Scottie never left to go play baseball.” Although in those years with Michael Jordan retired and pursuing a baseball career the Bulls while still a great team never won the championship until Jordan's return. Never the less Ros said he would have to turn down the Bulls offer in order to finish High School first. “Take it from me Parents just don't understand.” Kitty added quoting another 90's legend the Fresh Prince of Bel air. “But still a solid plan, Besides even Lebron waited to finish High School before going Pro.” A slight gesture of the ball followed as Pyrrhic offer the knowledge he was passing his classes and improving his aim as well as not passing out during his last presentation. “Well as long as you have your priorities in order.” Finally the proper introductions came as Pyrrhic introduced himself as 'Ros' noting he had seen Kitty around the mansion before but they hadn't really spoken or anything before today. “Oh well, I am Kitty... You've probably heard of me I am a pretty big deal and such.” Kitty added as she reciprocated the extended hand from Ros and shook his hand. “If you ever want to give up on your hopes and dreams of going Pro and joining the Bulls and decide on a simpler dream of going pro with the X-Men you'll probably have to go through me first.” Since the inception of the X-Men's Legacy Squad Kitty was one of the chosen leaders to head up the squad and test the students and other Legacy Squad members to see if they were ready to join the X-Men a recommendation from Kitty meant a promotion to the main roster soon rather than later. But this meeting on the courts today wasn't about the X-Men or the Legacy Squad it was about basketball, Before Kitty could accept or decline Ros' offer to throw down they were soon joined by another person. Elle from X-Factor who seemed a little friendlier with Ros addressing him by the name 'Sampson'. When Elle arrived on the court she asked how badly Kitty was beating the boy before grinning at Kitty. While Ros admitted the slaughter had not yet begun and offered an invitation to Elle to join in. “Hey Elle.” Kitty added after the other two exchanged their pleasantries. “Is it just you? Did you bring Jonny with you? Please say you brought Jonny with you. If my battle buddy was here the two of us would slam some major dunks on you.” It had been far too long since Kitty had seen Jonny C but also knew the chances of him showing up at the mansion today were slim even if there was an X-Factor member on campus. |

Em meandered her way through the grounds of the school, hands deep in the pockets of her jacket, walking for no real reason other than to not fall asleep in the middle of the day as was becoming the norm recently. Sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees growing in small knots, creating shafts of iridescent green light. The plan for a greenhouse started to assemble itself in her head - it would have corner pillars made of some dark metal, cast like those trees, and the panes would be separated to look like leaves.. yes, vaguely ironic architecture was her niche, she mused, nibbling the inside of her cheek in contemplation. Real plants growing inside fake ones. The indistinct hum of conversation and the tacky ping of a basketball broke through her thoughts. Curiously, Em filed away the greenhouse plan for later scrutiny and approached the court over the lawn. Her steps faltered when she saw Ms. Pride, and then proverbially kicked herself for hanging onto her previous mindsets and mechanisms. This lingering fear of authority figures, Em reminded herself fiercely, was ridiculous. Especially fear of someone as reportedly friendly as Ms. Pride. Xavier's Mansion was safe. As she approached the small group, a small spark of interest bloomed. It looked as though a basketball game might be in the works. Her skills in the game weren't exactly great, but nothing to sniff at either. And a chance to get some practice in was certainly appealing. Now that she was within proper conversing range, Em pulled her hands out of her pockets and waved at the group in general. "Hi, Ms. Pride, and... um," Stopping, she realised she didn't actually know any of their names. The white-haired girl began with an E, that much she could remember... was it Ella? Something along those lines. Stifling embarrassment, Em shoved her hands back in her pockets with a jerky movement and hoped that she wasn't about to get laughed at. |

"Oh, you guys haven't started yet? Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt...eh? Me?" Elle shook her head, black hair bouncing. It hadn't quite grown out as long as she normally kept it, but it was getting there, after Rahne's borrowed powers had kept it unusually short. "Sorry, never got into basketball. I was the shortest kid in my class for, like, forever." Then Kitty got her attention. "Hey...who, the clone?" That still kinda freaked her out. "No, he was at home when I dropped Nate off. He's probably teaching him more bad habits." She rolled her eyes at the thought, but giggled as Kitty continued on her little rant. "I could, uh, give him a call, if you want? He'd probably come running if he heard someone was talking about him, much less complimenting him." Then another new arrival. Elle took a moment to size her up, but didn't seem to recognize her either. "See? Even the Asian kids were always taller than me." She was smiling as she continued. "Being short was great for gymnastics, though. Soccer, volleyball, even softball..." Something seemed to come to mind, as she looked thoughtful for a moment. "...huh, I could probably dunk from halfway across the thing now. Like in those crazy slam dunk contents, but without the trampoline." Then, the thoughtful moment had passed. "I'm Elle. I love your hair. Do you dye it, or is it a mutant thing? I can turn mine white, but Nate's uncle's hair is always like that. I guess his grandpa too. His mom's hair is green, guess weird hair runs in the family..." She was getting a bit off track here. |

For a moment, Em thought she'd made the wrong decision to approach the group. The smaller girl's sizing up was a little intimidating, even if the girl was built like a pixie. Then Em gave Elle a large grin, glad that she was friendly and that she'd at least almost got her name right. She continued to smile as Elle rambled about sports, although most of the terms were unfamiliar- what, exactly, was softball? And dunking? Why did it involve a trampoline? A very bizarre mental image popped into her head, which was quickly squashed before she could snort, randomly giggle, or otherwise make a fool out of herself. "Hi, I'm Emblyn. Um, or Em, actually, please," She introduced herself, deciding she would file away the strange sports for a later time, when a dictionary (or Google) was closer to hand. Then Elle asked about her hair, and she grinned again, this time with a hint of pride. "No, it's not natural- I dye it. My hair's naturally brown- big surprise!" Em explained, pulling gently at a lock of her hair. "How do you turn yours white? Is that your 'mutant thing'?" Elle started to ramble about a family who had all apparently been bestowed with kaleidoscopic hair colours, and Em suppressed a small smile. It seemed like quite a lot of mutants had wacky natural hair colours- bright red, blue, pink- almost like some kind of badge saying 'This person is a mutant!' It made her think how many people with anime-ish hair she'd met who actually had their own mutation. She could have met hundreds of fellow mutants over the years and never even known. "That's cool- having, I suppose, unnatural, hair colours in the family. Kind of like an heirloom or something." |

"I'll keep that in mind. Right now we're working on getting use to being beaten up," Ros said. He had started off that statement with a smile, mildly amused that someone thought that Ros could be the heroic type. It was only recently that Ros started to view how his powers could be used to help. His answer when he worked with Hisako to Kitty that started with a smile ended with a flat sort of grimace. It was satisfying to be able to train with someone that he couldn't hurt, but not being able to touch an opponent did cause a little frustration. Things were a stalemate at best with Hisako when they trained together, and usually went in the favor of Armor. When he had thought briefly about switching powers with Hisako it was a testament to how Ros had become more accepting of his powers that his motivation for it would be to win for a change. What had started off looking like a possible shoot off was slowly expanding, at first with the arrival of Elle and then with a newer face to the school. Ros politely refrained from dribbling while the ladies talked briefly so that introductions could be made. Or in the case of Elle a brief rambling of hair colors of mutants that she knew. Naturally unnatural hair color was impressive, but Ros knew it wasn't just hair color alone that made a mutant. Not when you could give yourself rainbow hair streaks by going into any Hot Topic. He didn't have any classes with this new girl and had not caught her name said before in the hallways. A mental note was taken of what her name actually was, then what she preferred being called. The word nerd part of Ros's brain started breaking down Emblyn's name, trying to establish what the components of it were. Ember and Lynn maybe? "I'm Ros," the teen said to Em. It wasn't in Ros to ask about mutations, even if it was one of the most commonly asked questions at the school. If she wanted to tell him she would. This wasn't the place though to be discussing powers. It was a basketball court, a place for playing basketball. He looked at the three others that were on the court with him. Kitty hadn't said yes to playing against him, but she hadn't turned down the opportunity to do so either. Elle wanted to play for sure, given that she had asked the status of a game that had not happened. And Em? Perhaps she would like to join as well. As a reminder of why they were standing on the blacktop Ros dribbled the ball once, twice, then held it again. "There's enough of us that we could do a two on two if y'all want to play. Or we could all just stand here. Either or is really ok. After all, they both take advantage of the weather." |

Elle apologized for interrupting and apologized again for never really ever getting into the sport of Basketball noting she was always too small to play. “That never stopped Muggsy Bogues” Kitty added of the retired basketball player who only stood at 5'3 but never let his height handicap him on the court and not to mention he also starred in Space Jam alongside Michael Jordan. But once the basketball talked ceased and came to a more important matter, Kitty's old battle buddy Jonny C. However Kitty frowned when Elle as expected said that Jonny had not accompanied her on the trip to the mansion today. But gave a half flaccid smile when Elle said he was probably back at home teaching the youngest Summers' spawn some bad habits. “Classic Jonny” Elle then offered to give Jonny a call and invite him over. “No, No... It's okay I know when I am not wanted, But when you get back to the X-Factor HQ you tell him I said the Blue Ducks miss him. He'll know what I mean.” Suddenly player four had entered the game in the form of new student Emblyn Nancarrow. While the girl had only been at at the mansion for a short time she already knew Kitty's name but as for the others she seemed not to one could be forgiven for not knowing Elle as she was not a resident of the mansion and the other was a fellow classmate but introductions soon followed. “Howdy!” Kitty said as Elle joked that even the Asian kids were taller than her. Elle than rattled off a list of times her size did come in handy before the talk about hair colors dominated the conversation. But the conversation came to an end when Ros dribbled the ball onto the black top once again noting that there was enough people to play a game of 2 on 2 if the girls were down to play with him. Kitty again didn't offer a definitive answer but instead reached through the grip Ros held on the ball with and slapped the ball out of his hands before taking control of it herself and tossing it into the air towards the hoop. However the ball fell short of its intended target and barely made contact with the net before smacking off the steel pipe that held the hoop up. Kitty then turned back to Ros and shrugged her shoulders while saying. “Nothing but net?” |

"Emblem? Is that your codename?" Elle might have misheard her while she was distracted by something else. "Nice accent. Where are you from, huh, Em?" Her look didn't seem to quite match the voice. Elle had a few ideas, but didn't want to start shouting them out and embarass herself. Or the new girl. She'd already met a kid from dinosaur-land, apparently, so anything was possible. "Uh, yeah. That's one of my things. Here, hold still." She pointed at the new girl, as that artificially white hair suddenly changed, becoming a dark black that seemed just as obviously unnatural. "Boop." Elle provided the sound effect for the change herself, to let Em know something had happened. The finger turned back to her own hair, as the ear-length black mess turned white. "Boop." It seemed somehow more realistic and normal than the other teen's had been. "Mom never let me do anything with my hair, said it'd make me look cheap...not appropriate for dinner parties, I guess." She rolled her eyes. "So, it's kinda fun. Oh, can't leave you two out..." Elle turned to the others with a grin. "Boop, boop!" She immediately burst into giggles, as the brunettes were suddenly sporting slightly different shades of blue hair. "You look like the doctor now! He turned a weird orange color, actually." She eventually fought through her giggles to respond to other questions. "Two on two? I don't even know how to do the dribbling thing. Blue Ducks?" That just started her giggling again, the laughter continuing as Kitty's shot went far off course and bounced away. |

'No, um... Emblyn. Like... Em, a 'b', and then lin. It's the Cornish form of Emeline, like Emily, my mum always liked it, um... yeah, I'm from Cornwall... It's complicated but basically my dad's Korean. I know I look weird, sorry." Em explained to Elle, her voice rapidly shrinking in embarrassment as she went on. Her hands went back deep into her pockets. "Um, my codename's Somnia, because I can... with this dust stuff, I can send people to sleep, and like... do stuff. In their dreams. Basically. Um, it's pretty stupid actually. Not useful. I have to wear gloves so I don't accidentally knock anyone out. Um, or myself. It doesn't even work all the time." By this point her rambling was practically just quiet, rapidfire rubbish. Then Elle told her to hold still. She froze, tense, her eyes automatically flicking to the ground. She wouldn't do anything... violent, right? Surely. Elle seemed friendly, and at any rate she was quite diminutive. But then she changed her hair to black with a 'boop' that startled a pleasantly suprised laugh from Em. Relaxing, embarrassment forgotten, she reached up and twirled a strand of newly black between her forefinger and thumb, sighing though her nose, partially in envy but also in relief. "That is so awesome," Em told Elle, who now sported a shock of white hair. "So, you can reverse colour? Make it the negative?" Guesswork, but Em was still intrigued. If she could reverse more than colour, the possibilities would be endless! She could reverse her gravity to fly, or walk on walls, or ceilings. What if she could reverse shortsightedness? Cutting that vaguely bizarre train of thought off, she turned back to basketball, admitting to herself that she probably wasn't even that good. Slang terms were being thrown around that went sailing merrily over her head, and she had no desire to embarrass herself again by getting the rules wrong, then shrivelling up and being unable to play, ruining the game for everyone else. Still... it wouldn't hurt to at least try. Any indication of possible trouble brewing had only been her own imagination running wild. "Well.. if we were going to do teams, would it make sense to do two pairs, each with a small person and a tall person, so it's equal?" |

Lawyers would point out that no verbal agreement had been reached upon the idea of a game between Ms. Pryde and Ros, let alone a game with all four of them, but when the young lady stole the ball out of Ros's hands it was as good as a handshake. The young man grinned as Ms. Pryde took her shot and missed. He was just a touch better, and that was only because he had his glasses to help compensate for his shortsightedness. Ms. Pryde was now in the game, and both Elle and Em had expressed interest. There was going to be a two on two game for sure now. Someone more competitive than Ros would have tried to make a bid for the best player to be a part of his team. Though with how Elle had said she was never good at the sport as a kid, the only one that might be amazing was Em. "Not how the phrase would normally be used, but when taken in the literal sense I guess you would be right," Ros said and went to fetch the ball like a lab puppy. He had opened his mouth and the dictionary dribbled out, as if it were a new form of smack talk. The only ones who would have been intimidated by it probably walked around with a pocket thesaurus. English majors, Ros decided right then, should be the next wave of rap artists. It would certainly give the industry a face lift and maybe even remove some of the negative messages that were associated with it. "Height works, though we could go by hair color," Ros commented, fiddling with his now blue bangs. It was a strange new feature, but it hadn't hurt. Plenty of kids died their hair, he just had never considered it for himself. Then again Ros had spent most of his teen years thus far trying to not stand out. Elle had changed that up on him and Ros contemplated how blue was the reverse color of brown. Brown was a composite color made up of complimentary colors like blue and orange. Maybe the fact that brown was made up with multiple colors meant that when Elle had changed things up it had defaulted to whatever was the opposite of the strongest component of his hair color. Which would mean that he had traces of red hair in him? He looked at the three young ladies who had joined him on the court. If they were going to split things up into teams made of one tall person and one short person, Ros would most certainly be considered on the tall half of the spectrum. He had slowed down in his growth recently but still stood almost a foot taller than the shortest of them. It was weird to think that he was actually close to the sort of height that would be expected of a basketball power. It was the one thing that he had that made his joke about joining the NBA not an entirely unrealistic laugh. Ms. Pryde would be the other tall player, but only just. Ros could take either Elle or Em to play with him, but the question was which one? He knew Elle and if the others wanted things as equally balanced out having the shortest and the tallest paired up made sense from a numbers perspective. She was also the one that he knew the most. Something had to be said for familiarity. But Em was new. Ros had been scared when he first came to the school. His powers had been so new and the consequences of them severe enough to warrant that disastrous trial. Added to that mixture was the fear of what was going to happen to his parents in the aftermath. It was having a friendly face sit down and talk to him over lunch that really started to get him to feel comfortable. Ros Hadn't known anything about Em or her history that lead her to the Institute. She might be glad to be here or could be viewing it as a prison of some sort. In either case Ros was compelled to reach out to her. "What do you say Em? Think we can take them?" |

The introductions continued as Emblyn gave the proper pronunciation of her name and explained a bit of its origin as well as her own origins and explained her codename and her powers. Although Kitty was mildly concerned when Emblyn said she had to wear gloves so she doesn't accidentally knock anyone out or even herself. “So you're kind of like the Sandman?” Kitty asked not following up on the fact that if they were playing basketball what the potential dangers of her dust accidentally flying around and escaping from her gloves could mean. Soon after the introductions with the new girl were coming to a close the mutant parlor tricks were beginning as Elle showcased some of her talents by turning Emblyn's snow white hair into a dark raven black with added sound effects. After a brief story about Elle's mother not allowing her to use her ability to change her own hair color because of what her friends might think soon Kitty and Pyrrhic were adorned with blue hair. Kitty looked to Pyrrhic to get a better look at her own hair as she couldn't see the full effects of her hair change without a mirror. Kitty than gave a hair flip of her blue locks. “I should get a mohawk, A bright blue mohawk. No one would mess with someone with a bright blue mohawk, Right?” She asked the group after she tossed the ball away and watched it graze off the hoops net. While Pyrrhic admitted it was not quite how the phrase was intended to be used but in the most literal of senses Kitty indeed had gotten nothing but the net. Terms of the game were then being decided after Pyrrhic retrieved the ball Kitty had fired away. It was being decided the teams would be assigned by height while Pyrrhic was the tallest of the group that immediately made him and opponents as Kitty was significantly taller than the other two girls on the court. Pyrrhic made the first offer to Emblyn to join his team which saddled the X-Men with the visiting X-Factor member. Kitty then turned her attention to Elle as she asked. “So if I make another bad shot can you reverse that into a good shot?” |

"Oh, that sounds English, and you sound English, so I guess that makes sense. Weird?" Elle blinked, caught by surprise. "No way, especially not around here. You don't have fur or a tail or wings or anything." She didn't get stuck on that for more than a moment. "Oh, you know, I met Captain Britain once! He totally saved me from uh...well, from bad guys." That whole situation was far too complicated to try explaining right now. "Sandman? Oh, the real one, right. Sandgirl? You could probably, like, take psychology classes and make a ton of money that way. Rich people love therapy, and you'd be, like, a super-therapist!" Then the conversation shifted to her own powers. "Right, yeah, only the opposite. I reverse the way light bounces off of it...or...something. I'm not one of the super-smarts here." She turned to get a better look at the others as they also admired their new coloration, smirking at Kitty's idea. "Sorry, it's only temporary. My range is pretty small. And I'm not sure you could pull off a mohawk. I knew a kid with one, you really need the whole look...leather vest, studs, big black boots, you know?" Elle seemed a bit surprised as teams were being chosen, blinking at Kitty as they wound up together. "Huh? I uh...maybe? If we're using powers, though, it wouldn't really be fair to any of you guys." She moved to stand next to her new partner, as everyone's hair returned to normal, except for her own. "Making things go the opposite direction is a pretty big deal in most sports." Suddenly the basketball Ros had recovered decided to attempt to fall upwards, right out of his hands, zooming into the sky. After a few moments gravity took proper control again and sent it falling back to the court, likely a few feet away, thanks to wind and other factors. |
