Oh, the Sub-Basement. What a glorious place it was. Made up of extremely long hallways filled with rooms of many sorts, it served a wide variety of purposes for a wide variety of people. The entire level was filled with technology that the rest of the world likely wouldn’t be seeing for years. The infirmary was a great center where many of the school’s medically inclined volunteered their time. The War Room was another nice facility where the X-Men and Legacy Squad debriefed for their missions and tracked any sort of news or gathered information that was relevant to whatever was going on. Cerebro was by far the most ahead of its time. This one device, powered by the mind of a telepath, was capable of tracking down mutants on a global scale. Clarice had spent quite a bit of time in each of these rooms, especially here lately. Legacy Squad missions were picking back up again, so that meant more time getting injuries fixed up and being given more tasks to handle.

Today, however, the teleporter wouldn’t be giving any of those particular areas a visit. Instead she would be spending this morning alongside a fellow Legacy Squad member, Rictor, in the Danger Room. Rictor had an interesting power, one that Blink was fond of. Generating and controlling seismic energy was his specialty. He could use this energy to manipulate the Earth’s surface, whether that be by creating earthquakes, activating fault lines, etc. Not only that, but he had this empathic bond with the Earth that was rather unique. They hadn’t gotten to work in the field together much, but hopefully that would be changing soon. Regardless, they could still train together; that was just what would take place this morning.

Clarice approached the sliding doors to the lower floor of the Danger Room. At a panel to the right of the door, she placed her thumb on the fingerprint scanner. Once her name and photo appeared on the small screen, she proceeded to type in her access code. Once all that was done, the doors slid open. The voice of the room spoke up, giving a welcome “Welcome, ‘Blink’.”That just never got old. As she made her way in to one side of the room, the doors closing behind her, a holographic panel appeared. The pink girl then proceeded to type in her information once more, getting past the security protocols, and flicking through the available course options. All the meanwhile, she couldn't help but wonder: where was Rictor?

The two had scheduled for ten o'clock that morning. Surely he hadn't... no, he probably did. He probably overslept. That or the breakfast line was backed up again.

Julio hated it running late, he absolutely hated being anything but being early. But, he had no real control over the fact that his alarm didn't go off when he needed it to. That was whatever though, as it wasn't the first time. Maybe I should invest in a real alarm clock, Julio thought to himself as he finished brushing his teeth and putting on clothes that he was okay with getting wrecked in the danger room. He gave a sigh as he put on socks, and black converse, tying them relatively quickly. It was safe to say that the Mexican mutant looked forward to the session with one of his fellow teammates, Blink.

He had found her appearance and her abilities to be of high interest, and wanted to see them in his action himself. He was also curious to see how the two would work together power-wise, knowing that they had vastly different abilities. He could shake the world, and she could create portals. There wasn't time for Julio to grab any form of snack as he exited out of his room, and began to travel the hallways quickly. He was shocked to see it relatively empty, but he reminded himself that it was around 10 am and that people were still either asleep, or they were out and about. <Good job, Julio> The male thought to himself in Mexican as he finally made his way into the Subbasement, and headed towards the Danger Room.

The doors slid open as he entered into the large, metal dome-shaped room. "Sorry, I'm late!" Julio spoke loud, as he was still a bit groggy. But, he was ready. He was more than ready for a danger room session. It felt like it had been too long since the last one he had been involved with. He was too used to the real life situations he would find himself in every once and awhile, and figured that the danger room with his teammate would help build some kind of friendship between the two. He also wanted to get an even better idea of what his team could do for when they would be sent out for missions together.

He patiently waited now for Clarice to join him so that they could begin their session. He didn't entirely remember if they were going up against each other, or having to team up. He was sure that he'd lose in combat against her, but that would stop him from putting up a fight. If together, he was interested to see how their powers would compliment each other. Maybe she'd throw him through a portal and he'd stop behind his enemies and hit them with an earthquake that would shake things up quite a bit. It was all just images and scenarios in his head though. Julio was anxious to see how things would play out.

Clarice was easy to point out with her green skin, and the markings on her face. But. those never bothered or freaked out Julio. Maybe it was because he held the power to destroy cities if he truly desired. Then again, he had also been at the mansion long enough to not feel bothered by mutants with physical mutations. If anything, he found those mutants to be favorites. He enjoyed seeing them the most, knowing that they had the courage to show themselves. They were a bit inspiring really.

At the sound of the doors opening, Clarice looked over at the Danger Room’s entrance. Sure enough, there was the young Mexican Man. Her lips tightened back into a smirk, her lime green eyes flicking back towards the holographic panel in front of her.

“It’s about time you showed up.” she began, still deciding what course they would go through that morning. Thanks to Sarah, the Legacy Squad’s talented technopath and close friend to Clarice, the Danger Room had an abundance of courses to provide. It was almost overwhelming! You could choose between location, being able to enter exact global coordinates if you wished, scenario, from bar fights to facing fire-breathing dragons, etc. It seemed as if there were at least ten new courses in the system every time the teleporter was down there, and that was usually pretty often.

“I figured we’d just do some combat practice against the simulator today. Originally, I thought maybe we could verse each other, but then I decided I would spare you and not damage that lovely mug of yours” she teased.

Pressing one final holographic button, the panel faded away completely. Then, all of a sudden, noise filled the room as the Room began to awaken. Bright light flooded Blink’s vision as the program worked its magic, setting up the simulation. The brightness went away, revealing a warehouse. This two-story open room was just barely illuminated by a series of dimly lit ceiling lights, flickering every now and then. A series of racks filled with boxes filled the room. In the center of the room, where there were no storage racks, were several large boxes. Clarice, standing next to the boxes, looked the area over. As she saw the entirety of the warehouse, a large grin flooded to her face. This place looked familiar, and as she read the label on the boxes next to her, she figured out why.

This warehouse was the very warehouse that held information regarding mutant nullification tech. The Legacy Squad had stealthily infiltrated the base, taking out the guards, ridding the warehouse of the tech, and grabbing the information they required to carry on with the mission. She’d definitely be giving props to Sarah for this one.

“Notify when ready, Miss Ferguson.” stated Danger through the intercoms.

The pink girl looked over towards Rictor to see if she were ready. As she awaited his nod of approval, she reached back to the quiver strapped across her back. She had dressed in one of her more casual X-Suits, a forest green, sleeveless, thick leather vest that cut off just above her belly button, forest green microfiber pants, and jet black combo boots. From the quiver she pulled two crystalline javelins, they glowing at her touch.

Once Rictor gave the nod, she spoke up. “We’re a go.”

Not three seconds later, the room became filled with more than the two that were originally in it.

"Sorry amiga," Julio apologized to his teammate, and mentally prepped himself for whatever that Blink decided would be fun to throw them up against. "Aye, you think you can handle yourself against me?" He responded quickly, his Mexican accent flooding through every word he spoke to the female. Within moments, his eyesight was flooded by the bright white light and their surroundings changed. They were soon in a a building, a warehouse of some kind. He didn't recognize the surroundings, but he could tell that Blink was more prepared than he was.

The building was dimly lit, and seemed to be not built as sturdy as Julio could have wished for. He knew his powers would easily bring down the large warehouse to just a pile of rubble. He was thankful he had learned some control but he wasn't entirely confident in using his abilities within a confined area like the one they were currently presented in. "Next time, you'll have to spar me," Julio spoke as he watched the pink mutant look at the boxes. He moved next to her, as he kept his eyes peeled for anything around them.

Then he heard Blink say there were ago, and all of a sudden the room had more than just the two individuals occupying it at the current moment. That wasn't what he had in mind, and he sure hoped that his teammate would have a plan to get them out of the situation. He reacted quickly though, as he could feel the seismic energy build up within him. He released the energy in a controlled wave in front of him, using it to at least knock down those in front of him. He was a little ticked that Blink thought it'd be a good idea to place the two within a building that didn't seem capable of withstanding the might of his powers.

But, he'd push off that annoyance for now as he waited for Blink to do something. "If you get us out of here, I can bring the whole building down. It'll be risky though," Julio suggested as he knew that would be an easy fix to the problem at hand. Or even teleporting him out of the building and then him crushing it would have just been as simple. But she seemed to have a better idea on how to handle the problem. He gave a sigh as he went back to work with the seismic energy, and releasing it in smaller, controlled shockwaves in the directions of those that had joined the two.

This gave him an enough time to run in and throw himself into hand to hand combat with those surrounding them.

Rictor’s remarks had brought a snicker and smirk to Clarice’s face. The humor was over, though, as the real fun was just starting. Opponents began to fill the warehouse, the teleporter only capable of seeing their movement between the shelves. Oddly enough, excitement and anxiousness filled her. She’d gotten plenty of action out in the field, maybe even a bit more than she’d wished for, but something about the Danger Room was different. At the same time, it couldn’t really be compared to anything else because it was so unique.

While Clarice waited things out, wanting to see just what they were up against, Rictor was already acting. He sent a seismic wave in front of him, a small wave in the ground becoming just barely visible, that knocked over a few boxes, shelves, and opponents.

"If you get us out of here, I can bring the whole building down. It'll be risky though,"

Just by hearing him, she could tell he wasn’t pleased with their location. It took all her strength not to laugh. “It’s not all about shaking, rattling, and rolling.” she replied with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. At that, though, she was off.

A mere teleportation had Blink standing on top of a rafter on the ceiling. It was the very rafter that she and Chrysalis had stood on the night they infiltrated the warehouse. From there, she could see everything. Rictor, sending out more ripples of seismic activity at opponents. Others that had been closer to Clarice were beginning to draw nearer to him. They didn’t seem to be armed, medium-sized men who didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary. No problem.

In another instant, Clarice was back where she had been, facing the opposite way of Rictor. Two individuals stood near her. She winked, agonizing them, doing whatever she could to send them at her. The first rushed forward towards her. His target, Clarice, was no longer where he’d expected her to be; his swing had missed. She appeared behind him, using her foot to kick the man on the rear. The force of his missed throw and her kick sent him crashing into a crate. The second man had put his arms up, waiting for the teleporter to get done with the other guy before attacking. He’d sent a swing with his right arm at her. In all honestly, he wasn’t the quickest of fighters. She ducked to the left, thrusting her elbow into his ribcage at the exact same time. He hunkered down in pain.

While waiting on the man to recover, Clarice looked back towards Rictor. “How’s it going over there?”

He was glad to see that Clarice found him humorous, which meant that they were far from clashing into each other. Julio couldn't help but to feel like he was doing all the work as he had thrown himself into the fray, more concerned with keeping them safe from any of those swarming the two. "I apologize for liking to get straight to the point," he responded with a small hint of sarcasm. The confidence surged as he managed to hold his own in the fist fights that had came from him throwing himself at the unknown enemy.

He could feel his clenched fists collide into faces and stomachs, while feeling the reciprocation of the opponents retaliation. "Pretty decently, how about yourself?" Julio responded to the question rather quickly as he finally managed to push away the few guys he had been up against. "Brace yourself," Julio spoke as he started to make the ground shake with enough force to knock the guys back to their feet, and with dust beginning to fall from the ceiling. His efforts quickly switched as the ground stopped shaking, and he sent a violent shock wave through the ground towards the guys.

The ground looked as if it was the ocean from how quick the waves were sent towards the unarmed men, knocking them up into the air and back a few feet further. He stopped the shock wave, to see the men scrambling and trying to get back up on their feet. His feet stood firmly, his hands ready to manipulate the seismic energy that he had learned control over. "When a fault line bumps into another, it says 'Sorry, my fault," Julio spoke to Blink, hoping she would enjoy the earthquake pun. The slight joke didn't pull his attention though from the serious situation they were involved with, even though they were in the Danger Room.

If anything, this scenario made him want to actively seek more training with his fellow Legacy Squad members. He wanted to fully understand what they were capable of, and how they all worked together. He only knew the names and faces of his teammates, but he wanted to know more. He felt that it would be vital for situations they would be stuck in, especially when powers would have to be used. He wanted to be able to rely on his comrades, and to be known as reliable.

Clarice liked Rictor already. He had a sense of humor that she was somewhat fond of. It wasn’t the annoying kind of humor, but more of the smart-ass humor, the humor in which she enjoyed the most. He was sarcastic, given the reply he had just thrown back to her. It was clear that they would be getting along quite well.

“Oh, I’m doing just fine.” she stated, her hands resting on her hips. This guy was taking way too long to recover from the elbow she had just delivered to his ribcage. Deciding to wait no longer, she turned on her left foot, swinging her right foot into the air. She focused her weight forward into the kick, her foot meeting the man’s hunched face cleanly. He rolled over to the side, sprawling out on his back. He was clearly out of this fight. It was at that exact moment that Rictor called out an order.

"Brace yourself," he stated. The pink-skinned woman instantly began to act, running in the opposite direction as Rictor. As she ran, a portal fleshed open in front of her, swallowing her up. She later appeared on top of the large stack of boxes behind Rictor. These were the very boxes that contained the mutant nullification technology that was being used on innocent mutants in Mutant Town.

Below her and in front of the earthquake-generating mutant, all of the targets had fallen to the ground, it being too unstable to remain standing on. The ground quit shaking, only for the man to send a large seismic wave into the ground. It rolled across the ground as smoothly as an ocean wave, knocking racks and men over like they were trash cans. While he went on doing this, he cracked a joke to Clarice involving fault lines. A smirk took to her face as she shook her head.

The other Legacy Squad member was too busy rolling targets around like roly polies and cracking jokes that he managed to miss the lone opponent that had gotten behind him. Pink enveloped the teleporter, she disappearing from sight. As the target went to strike Julio, Blink reappeared at his side, grabbing his striking arm mid-attack. She grinned, twisting the man’s arm while getting underneath him. She used his weight against him, slinging him over her back and onto the floor.

“Your combat skills are pretty shaky.” she stated, making a pun of her own. “Am I going to have to cover your back this entire simulation or no?”

More opponents began to appear in the room now that most of the original ones had been taken out. Five of them stood ahead of Clarice, each of them readying to take on the teleporter. Standing in place, the girl took a fighting stance, as if she were about to start boxing some invisible opponent. She threw a strike in the air randomly. Instead of hitting air, however, a portal opened, revealing one of the men’s faces. Her fist struck him hard on the side of the face, sending him to the ground. She grinned at the results. This particular way of fighting was one she loved, as her opponents never knew what was coming. This time she sent a kick into the air, a portal opening so as to connect her foot with one of the men’s chin. He sprung up and back into the air. This was absolutely great.

“So your waves,” she began as she delivered more portal-based attacks, “try focusing one through one of my portals.” At that exact moment, a portal opened in front of Blink, another in front of Rictor. This brought him to see the opponents she had been facing.

Using her abilities to spread her ally’s attacks across the battlefield was a tactic she was very fond of and had mastered. How Rictor’s abilities worked with the tactic would prove to be interesting.
