Time: 9:14 AM Date: May 14th Settling in at the School was actually easier than Riley would have expected, but that didn't mean she was totally at ease yet. There were a lot of names and faces she had to learn, among other things, but so far she hadn't gotten anyone confused with someone else. Forgetting names wasn't nearly as bad, especially since everyone seemed to have two that they went by; their given name and whatever codename they'd come up with. A few of the students had even called her Theia on occasion since her arrival and it still sounded weird to her ears. She'd picked out the name years ago when she was still in high school, but had never really gone by it before. While it was weird to have people referring to her as Theia it was nice at the same time, it made her feel like she belonged in a way she'd never felt before. Smiling at her own musings, Riley watched a few of the students as they milled about. It was quiet given how early it still was, in some of their teenage opinions, and Riley intended to enjoy it to the fullest for as long as she could. In her hand she held a well worn copy of Bram Stoker's "Dracula", it was one of her favorite books and it showed as the book was nearing the point of needing to be replaced before it fell apart. Thumbing through the pages until she found where she had left off Riley settled back against the tree she'd chosen to read beneath. Its bark was relatively smooth and caused her to assume that perhaps it was a favorite reading spot for many others. Shrugging to herself, she began to read and was soon lost in Dracula's world. |
