Date: May 10th, 2015 Time: Approxiamely 10:15 AM upon arrival Taking place at the same time as Interview Jitters Several months had gone by since Eric Gitter's incident with trying to make himself overdose with a combination of hard liquor and multiple drugs. With the help of a few friends, he got checked into a rehabilitation program. Now he was out after fighting for several months with the program itself. He had a few relapses here and there, but now he had successfully completed rehab, and now he was ready, in their eyes, to be released back into the wild. He didn't know where to begin. Was he supposed to try to find himself now? Was he supposed to find the friends that had helped him? He knew where two of them would be, but Alix, he never knew where she'd be next, let alone expected to see her when the shit had hit the fan. Eric was once again at a loss for what he was supposed to do. It seemed like a constant in his life. There was always going to be a void that he couldn't seem to fill, no matter how hard he tried. "Where to, kid?", the cab driver asked him. "1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center, Cuz. Gotta restart somewhere...might be a good place." The cab driver shrugged and started driving along. Eric sat there and he thought about everything. Thought about his time with the X-Men, his time with the Morlocks, with Remy, and then with the Guild, and now. It was like he was coming full circle. He still wasn't sure about his decision, but at the very least he would go there and see if he could talk to Clarice again. It was a long shot, but he was willing to try it. "So why ya wantin' to go there, kid?" Eric took a moment before answering the cab driver's question. He still wasn't sure. Something about it felt like it was what was best for Eric Gitter, but at the same time, he was unsure and uneasy about making a decision to return to Xavier's. "You one of them muties? I don't mind it. Long as you ain't one of the trouble makin' ones." Eric laughed and shook his head. "Nah, I'm no mutant. I'm...somethin' else. Guess I'm goin' there cuz I've got nowhere else to turn. Thought maybe they'd help me even if I'm not like 'em." The cab driver nodded and kept driving for a moment. "Way to be, kid. You gotta do what's right for ya, y'know?" They were getting closer to the school. The two talked about random topics at this point. Their favorite sports teams, Eric not really having any, and the cab driver being from Chicago was a diehard Blackhawks and Bears fan. The drive was long, but that was to be expected coming from clear across the city. Eric didn't know the reception he would receive upon his arrival, or if he should even being doing this, but maybe, just maybe, going there would help. The cab pulled up just down the road from Xavier's. This was it. This was his opportunity...maybe. Noise. Loud noise. The sound of a motorcycle coming down the road. And on the back of it, a woman. She pulled onto the grounds of the estate, and Eric got out of the cab. He paid the driver his fare and started walking towards the gates. When he got to the gate, he saw that the woman had stepped off of it after setting the kickstand and taken her helmet off, allowing her red hair to fall freely. She turned around to put her helmet on the seat. Eric almost called out to her, but he stopped himself. He had enough on his mind, but if this gal was at Xavier's now, Eric was even more interested as he got a good feeling from her. He waited for the woman to head inside before he pulled out his cell phone. He dialed the school's number and waited. "Yeah...I need to speak to Scott Summers. It's...urgent." He waited a few moments until the phone was picked back up. "Scott...it's...it's Ink. I...I need your help. I'm ready to come home." He listened for a few moments and started pacing. A look of relief came over his face and the pacing stopped. "Thanks, Scott. Thank you. I'm outside...I'm on my way in," he said as he walked back to the cab and the driver popped the trunk. Eric grabbed his things and started walking towards the school. This was his chance to start over again. This was a new chapter in his story. What would come next...that remained to be seen. |
