"Really man?" A voice called over following Fia's question, as if on cue. "You tell me to wait for breakfast and you get into an air race? You do realize that they stop serving breakfast after a while, right? It's not all at once, they actually have to start putting away the stuff before the deadline too." Ethan called to Julian with a slightly amused flair, unknowingly interjecting on the conversation the two were having. He really wasn't taking that into consideration anyway since he'd been waiting for Julian to eat breakfast for a bit. Now, it's only natural that not being able to find him would put a dent in that schedule. However, it's not that hard to track him down when he's traveling at breakneck speeds through the sky, leaving a green trail of energy all the while. "I don't know how you expect that to work man. I mean, I got you and I the Lucky Charms but... you do know I can't fly, right?" Ethan said in a jokingly sarcastic manner, walking up to him. "Like... I can't just bring the food to you... I know what you're used to but still." He laughed, smiling a little. "I mean... you could probably make me fly but... yea. I can't move in the air." Ethan knew that Julian wasn't expecting him to wait on him hand and foot, but it was still a really good way to give him a hard time. All good natured, of course. After all, he couldn't be mad and waste the Lucky Charms. They're not just delicious, they're magical. "And I would congratulate you two on the race but I didn't really see much of it, so sorry there." He remarked, turning to Fia. "And I suppose you're Julian's friend then. Ethan." He remarked, nodding with a smile as he held out his hand. He then turned to Julian. "So are we eating or...? Because I'm really hungry. I missed dinner yesterday... You know." |

"Do you like it here so far? Are people nice?" Julian was about to tell Fia about his roommate Ethan, then it hit him. "Oh dammit." he said out loud. He had completely forgotten that Ethan was waiting for him for breakfast. He can't believe he did that. He looked down at his watch. If he and Fia hurried, they could still catch him and.... "Really man?" "Oh dammit!" he repeated with a slightly escalated tone. Busted. He turned with what he hoped was an apologetic smile to his best friend. He knew that Ethan would see Fia, and know right away exactly how and why Julian got distracted. Still, he didn't want Ethan to think that all it took was a pretty face for Julian to completely drop him. "I really was just about to come find you, and I was bringing a.." What should he call her? They only just met. Were they friends yet? Somehow, it felt like they were already more than that. ".. new friend (that worked) for breakfast. This is Sofia. Fia, this is my roommate and best bud, Ethan. He's the second coolest guy on campus." Ethan was having a great deal of fun at his expense. Julian had to admit, it was actually pretty funny. He made fun of Julian for being rick and spoiled, and Julian teased Ethan about being a glorified battery. However, Ethan had a point. They would stop serving breakfast soon, and he did make Ethan promise to wait for him. "So the air race was a spontaneous development. I had no idea that Fia here was so incredibly competitive." "So are we eating or...? Because I'm really hungry. I missed dinner yesterday... You know." "Yes, yes. Let's eat. Fia owes me breakfast anyway, don't you Fia." he said with a glorious smile of triumph. Now that he knew Fia wasn't actually angry, he was kind of starting to enjoy his win. Julian hoped Ethan and Fia got to be friends too, but not TOO good of friends. |

The moment of her emotion had passed, and Fia found it easy to smile at Julian again. As distracted as she was, she still caught his exclaimation, and turned to him curiously, her brows dipping slightly in confusion. There was no context to his words, and she was only just slightly taken aback by his reaction. Weren't they discussion the school? Fia did not expect him to feel adversely about Xavier's at all... Then it made sense. "I suppose you'll tell me you're the coolest guy on campus," Fia joked, shaking hands with Ethan. "I'm sorry for keeping you from breakfast," she continued as the three of them walked towards the cafetorium. "But this joker here wanted a race, and I foolishly thought he would play fair." "Lets not forget what lengths you had to go to to win," she reminded him with a poke in his arm. She would have won if she wasn't so silly as to be distracted by him - next time, next time she wouldn't be fooled. They were right, breakfast was ending soon, and the hall was left with the late-risers and last minute breakfasters who sat around nursing cups of coffee and tea. It wouldn't be this way once classes started up again. The whole school was blanketed in a kind of relaxed atmosphere, but she knew that when classes came 'round, she'd be complaining about their early call time with the best of them. "Apparently we're going to have something called Lucky Charms?" she asked, running hand through her long hair to pull it away from her face. Approaching the cereal bar with the boys, she ignored her usual Cocoa Puffs and instead arched a brow at Julian, "What are these Lucky Charms you love so much?" |

"What are these Lucky Charms you love so much?" "Wait, seriously?" He thought that Fia had been kidding before. Who hasn't heard of Lucky Charms? "Oh Wind Girl, you are in for a treat. I'm about to change your life forever." He was suddenly enthusiastic about getting to be the one to share this with her. "If magic had a taste, this would be it. Picture toasted oat pieces, lightly frosted to perfection with sugar. Add to that multicolored crispy marshmallows in whimsical charm shapes. I think the Leprechauns actually call it 'crack' in certain social circles, and they would be right to do so." Sure, he might be over selling it a little. They passed the Cocoa Puffs to the plastic bin dispenser full of the magically delicious. The cafetorium had it set up so that the students could dispense their own cereal. He dodged a few disapproving looks from one of the lunch ladies, who also looked to be checking her watch. Julian took a bowl from the clean stack sitting next to the dispensers. "Please, allow me." He pulled out the little lever that allowed the cereal to stop down into the bowl, making the delightful little ringing of magic on ceramic. With a smile, me moved over to the large, stainless steel milk dispenser, but when he lifted the lever, only a few drops came out, heralding the empty status of the milk. "Awe dammit!" he exclaimed as he looked back up to the troll of a lunch lady. "How about some milk." he called to her. "How about you come to breakfast on time? The woman called back. Didn't this horrible woman know that a girl's life was about to be changed by magical goodness? "What kind of place you running here?" he pointed at the clock. "We still have two minutes according to the posted signs." The woman just threw up her plastic glove covered hands in response to this, and disappeared into a back room. "Very Professional!" he called after her. Now what was he supposed to do? Behind where the woman had been standing was a row of stainless steal refrigerators. Milk had to be somewhere. There wasn't even an internal debate this time. Immediately, the doors to the fridges glowed green, and swung open all at once. From their spot by the cereal, he could see a gallon of milk. A green aura gripped it, as he levitated it over to them, and the doors shut again, perhaps a bit harder than he meant for them too. He poured the milk over the cereal, and offered the bowl to Fia. "Ladies first." |

Walking alongside the two of them, Ethan enjoyed the calm of the day and the sophisticated conversation that was unfolding before him. "What are these Lucky Charms you love so much?" Yes, like that. A conversation like that. Amused, Ethan listened as Julian explained with great enthusiasm what the cereal was. He wouldn't call it life changing, but Julian certainly pitched it as if it were. Emphasizing every small detail to coax the girl into wanting to try some, it was actually rather impressive. Calling it a drug is actually a bit much though. Did Julian have a problem? Was this cereal his crutch? Was he hanging around with leprechauns? All these jokes went through Ethan's head, but he eventually decided something else would be funnier, at least to him. I'll just kill it as soon as he's done explaining. "It's marshmallows with oats." He bluntly remarked with a slight smirk right after Julian had finished his monologue. Although it is quite good. "It's basically candy mixed in with cereal, but it does taste best with milk, I wont argue with that." "Awe dammit! How about some milk!" Oh God... Somehow Ethan knew that Julian would get into an argument with the lunch lady. If there's anyone that he could piss off, it'd be the people who serve him his food. Even if it was amusing, Ethan couldn't help but shake his head, placing it in his palm. "Dude, let it go. I warned you this would happen anyway, didn't I?" He sighed, trying to get his friend who was possibly suffering from withdrawal to calm down. But it's still funny as hell when the lunch lady has more grace in walking away from an argument than Julian does. Still, something about this exchange was extremely amusing. Seeing her walk away, he turned to his friend. "Are you done?" His completely unpredictable (in hindsight, totally predictable) response only brought on more face palm from Ethan. "Oh, for the love of God..." He muttered to himself before looking up. He wasn't mad, he was used to this. All exchanges were good natured. "Really man? Remember when I said behave at this school? Remember that little exchange of dialogue? No? Alright then, neither do I, I guess." He remarked with a smile before taking the milk for his own Lucky Charms as well. If this was his first impression to Fia, it was one hell of one. It may not be perfect, but it's certainly memorable. It certainly made Ethan laugh. Dropping his smile for a second, he looked behind the counter before turning back to the two of them and putting on a smaller smile. "No, seriously, we should go before they get pissed. Or at least close the door." He laughed. |

Typically, the way she was brought up, Sofia maintained a certain standard of politness to the people around her. She didn't pick fights, and when she needed something, she always felt that it was easier to get things done with honey than with rocks. Having not grown up in a lap of luxury, she was also more accustomed to asking than demanding, and was immediately affronted by the tone Julian took with their lunch lady. At least the lunch lady had enough grace to walk away from that situation. Her eyes flashed as she turned on him, all thoughts of their initial friendship fading somewhat. "Don't you think that that was a bit harsh Julian. We are late," she said to him as he poured the milk for her. The fridge door slammed shut, and Fia's ears shook from the sound. Her morning of fun that had made her a new friend - two, counting Ethan - was marred by his princely attitude, and she didn't like it one bit. Fia didn't know where he got the idea that behaving this way was okay, and honestly, a part of her didn't care to find out. Whoever she saw Julian as - the competitive, concerned, young man with a big heart - how had an added tag of being spoiled and rude. "I think you ought to apologise," she said crossly, taking the milk from Ethan once he was done, and going to where there was a gap in the counters leading to the fridges behind. "Hi, we're sorry, but is it okay if I replace the milk? Yes, the middle fridge... Thank you!" she asked aloud into the kitchen, and recieving permission, went to open the fridge that Julian lifted the milk from, and put it back. Going back to where the boys were, she shook her head at Julian, not completely happy with him, and continued, "Let's just eat and go before they chase us out." |

"I think you ought to apologize." Julian paused. He was going to have to handle this new development. On the one hand, they were here two minutes before the time that breakfast was scheduled to stop, hence they were not technically late, but were definitely cutting it as close as possible. Also, how freaking hard would it have been for the Lurch of a Lunch Lady to have simply handed them the gallon of milk over the counter? The woman obviously found it more convenient to be a jerk about it. On the other hand, perhaps Julian was a little too used to having his way. He came from a world where the food service industry would bend over backwards in four different ways to give you whatever you want. This was mainly because of his parent's insane wealth and his Father's big tipping practices, but it has become a standard that Julian expected. Then again, Fia seemed upset and that was no good either. He watched as she returned the milk with what he would consider over the top congeniality, but it's what worked for Fia. She returned with a disapproving head shake. "Let's just eat and go before they chase us out." Between Ethan's 'holy ghost' style moral promptings and now Fia's nearly catholic level guilt tripping, Julian will be well on his way to sainthood. Nothing to be done for it. He wouldn't argue back or complain or defend his perfectly defensible position, because that would just perpetuate it. All those roads lead to places he didn't want to be. Strategically speaking, the only way to win the victories he wanted, was to lose this battle. Looks like he would be eating crow along with his magical breakfast. No matter how he was feeling inside (annoyed, for those of you playing at home), he continued without so much as an eye roll or hint of sarcasm on the outside. He put the bowl down and got into character. "Fine. You're right." he said in the best apologetic tone he could fake on the fly like this. "I was maybe out of line." "No I wasn't." "I really should apologize to that lady." "More like nature should apologize to her for that face." Julian walked over to the counter where the Lunch Ogre had come out of her cave, and looked like she was pretending to be busy. The things he did for a pretty face. The woman noticed him coming, and her scowl increased, as if she were getting ready to stab him with a kitchen knife. He would be prepared with his TK just in case that turned out to be an accurate assessment. "Excuse me." he said with what he knew was a carefully painted on apologetic smile. "I really want to say I am sorry for how I acted." "Total bull shit." The woman's stone face softened a little. His evil plan was working. "I would blame low blood sugar, but there really is no excuse for my behavior. I am sorry..." his eyes fell to her name tag "...Helga." "God what an awful name." "I know you work hard for us, and I am sorry if I made your day harder." "You horrible woman." For good measure, Julian gave Helga one of his charming smiles and a slight look. It worked a little too well. Helga looked down with a goofy smile of her own, and played with her apron a bit. She was clearly flattered. He tried very hard not to lay it on too thick. "I'll leave the Lucky Charms out for you." Helga said, and then she turned and practically skipped away. That took Julian by surprise. Maybe listening to Fia wouldn't be so bad after all. He smiled, genuinely this time. He returned to Fia and Ethan at a table now. That went well he thought. He looked to his two companions for confirmation, as he shoveled in a mouth full of well deserved marshmallowy goodness. |

Fia seemed like such a nice girl, which made her abrasive attitude towards Julian's misappropriation of his powers all the more surprising, yet fitting. Ethan wasn't a fan of an outlandish attitude when dealing with problems. He just didn't want to assert himself as someone who would always nag someone for every little thing that they did wrong. He was getting used to Julian's attitude anyway, and was finding a somewhat good way to deal with it. But he still found himself unable to openly chastise his friend and risk getting into a fight this early in their relationship. What if the guy was overly sensitive to criticism? He certainly seemed like that kind of guy. He just didn't want to take that chance. Yet Fia bluntly scolded him, returned what he had stolen, then marched back and told to apologize just like she was his mother. And it worked. Giving out a few reserved blinks and looks of surprise, he simply turned to Fia as Julian went up to apologize to the woman. "That was... good job." He managed, still too surprised to notice a small glow in his shoulder, but focusing on putting it out the instant he noticed it. "Oh sh- sorry." He said apologetically as he focused on the light, making it fade from existence. "No, seriously though. That was... impressive." He nodded in approval with a smile one more time before Julian came back. Maybe her way of addressing Julian's problems had something to it. But only if necessary, of course. He was still his friend after all. But things never seemed to be terribly simple with Julian. The issue with his usual habit of charming people was that it was hard to tell when he was genuinely being nice or apologetic. Logic would dictate that an apologetic tone would be different from a happy or calming one, but if that wasn't the case that could also just be Julian's way of coping with doing something he's not used to. The kid was raised in the lap of luxury after all. Call it Ethan's optimistic attitude, but his apology seemed genuine enough for him to be contempt with the effort he had made. At least the lunch lady seemed happy with the apology. That was the most important thing, considering she was the offended party. She even offered to leave out Julian's Lucky Charms, which it in itself is impressive. Lunch ladies are notorious for not putting up with any shit. Come to think of it, maybe that's why she walked away from the conversation earlier. Seeing Julian's search for approval, Ethan could only do what he could only imagine as supporting his friend, nodding. "Good job apologizing to her, but it's probably best you avoid spats like that in the future." He remarked, eating a spoonful of his sugary cereal. "I know you're trying to behave buddy, but things aren't quite like you're used to here. No private bedrooms or washrooms, and true, you don't get any personal service, but it's what we've got. This is a pretty good place for mutants to be you know, so appreciate it while you can." He nodded as he ate slightly more. Okay, so maybe Fia's direct criticism gave him the opening to say that in the first place, but it's still a genuine testament. There's no better place that he could think of for them to find themselves. |

She might have been smaller than the both of them, but Fia did not grow up without a spine of steel. She thought Julian should apologise and she said so. Nodding when he agreed (however reluctantly) she stood leaning on the counter, waiting for him to walk over to their lunch lady. He turned and did, and Sofia intended to make for the empty tables. When Ethan turned to her in approval, she remained slightly annoyed, though a small smile showed that her annoyance was not with him. Surprisingly, Julian had dealt with it well - she and Ethan went to a nearby empty table, and from there, she watched Julian be humble and apologise. Her hearing excellent, she heard every word said, and struggled not to roll her eyes when Julian plied Helga with sweet words. I told you to apologise, not to flirt, you idiot. Still, Julian was not telepathic, and Fia was inclined to soften towards him now that he had apologised as she thought he ought. He returned to join them, and she gave him her brightest smile. "That was nicely done!" she said proudly, still smiling at him. Julian was much more likeable when he didn't have an attitude. She found him approachable, humorous, and even somewhat attractive. Twisting her spoon in the bowl, she took a bite and tasted the magic Julian was raving about. It was all sweet, and joyful and happy. Now she knew why Julian and Ethan both had a thing for these Lucky Charms. She was going to have to watch her figure if she was going to make a habit of eating the sugary cereal. "Oh, this is really quite good..." She said to the boys once she swallowed her first bite. Perhaps she could limit herself to eating it twice a week. That would be reasonable right? |

"Good job apologizing to her, but it's probably best you avoid spats like that in the future." Well wasn't Ethan just pleased as punch?! His disapproval of Julian's behavior is usually more subtle. He was picking up bad habits from Fia. The balance of power has shifted, and now the two were going to gang up on him regularly. He tried to bury this distasteful thought in another spoonful of oaty sweetness. Julian found himself fighting the urge to pull Ethan's chair out from under him. He narrowed is gaze at Ethan as he chewed. "Oh, this is really quite good..." Oh, Fia was enjoying them, he could tell. Yet another convert to the temple of Lucky Charms. Fia was much less annoyed with him, and that alone was worth his apology to Helga. This was Fia's first impression of him, and she is apparently getting the full Julian tour. Ethan and Fia were good people, which is nice but a little naive. Good people get taken advantage of. Julian would look out for them, just like they look out for him. They actually make a pretty odd group, but for some reason it was kind of working for them. "You know what?" he asked as he pushed the cereal down into the milk with the back of his spoon. "It's even sweeter when it's part of a victory." he winked at Fia, and took another big spoonful into his mouth in an exaggerated show. "Mmmmm. So good." Of course he kind of cheated, but since Fia is fine, he would go ahead a tease her a bit. "Of course, you will never know the taste of it... it's for the fastest person only." he laughed to himself. He was having a good morning, all in all. Hell-ga aside, he got in a good run and met a new friend. "So what is everyone up to the rest of the day?" he asked the table, trying to start breakfast table conversation. |

Taking another bite of the sugary cereal after speaking to Julian, Ethan noticed the look of disdain that had found its way onto his friends face. It wasn't very hard to decipher why he'd be upset, but the real things that threw Ethan off didn't include him being mad. Well, sort of. One: He was still mad while eating Lucky Charms. That stuff was almost sacred to this guy, the way he talked about them. And two: He seemed to be glaring at Ethan, which the young mutant was not prepared for nor expecting. He wasn't used to his roommate staring him down, and after a quick brainstorm session he had three theories on why he was. Theory One: Ethan had been a bit overly harsh and/or direct in his comments on Julian's behavior. Theory Two: Julian was just being overly sensitive. And of course, Theory Three: Ethan was glowing brighter with every second and Julian just really needed some sunglasses. All three options presented problems, but Ethan settled to believe what put him the most at ease; which was, sadly, the thought that he was progressively glowing brighter and brighter, well on his way to becoming a bomb or something. Ethan could just look down and see he wasn't glowing, but that wasn't the point. He just had to drop this. At least Julian's attitude brightened when he boasted of his victory in that light show against Fia. It was good to see Julian having a bit of fun after that argument with Lunch Lady Helga, so Ethan decided not to push it. Rather, he simply let out a slight laugh, shaking his head as he took another bite of his Lucky Charms, allowing his roommate to ramble on to the girl. "Oh, I don't really have much going on really. I have a training session that's going to take up a good portion of my day, but that's really about it. It's good I have it, considering I still got glows popping up now and then, but it's really nothing too special." Ethan shrugged, having started to adapt to the life and grind of life at this school. "What about you two? Any big plans?" |

Fia rolled her eyes, but grinned good-naturedly at Julian. She was inclined to see the good in him, and was much more forgiving now that he had apologised. The storm had passed and she was not one ot hold grudges. Having noticed the glare Julian shot at Ethan, Fia kept quiet-- his apparent annoyance with his roomate did not extend to her, and while her first reaction would be to defend Ethan, Julian moved on from the topic easily enough to gloat about his win, and wisely, she let him. "I have to see Ms Rouke in the office at some point to work out classes and schedules and things... And figure out what independent study I'm doing before school starts in the fall," Fia replied after swallowing a mouthful of cereal. She was half expecting to be taking flight classes, but with whom, she did not know yet. Also, it would be smart to spend some of the summer catching up on actually class content -- she was not fool enough to think her cleverness entitled her good grades once the semester started. She looked around the empty cafeteria, and then glanced towards the kitchen. "We should probably go soon-ish." The place was empty, and aside from the sounds coming from the Kitchen, they were the only ones talking. "You guys want to show me where the main office is?" she asked, absently toying with the metal spoon. The school was a big place, and while she had been shown around when she first arrived, getting lost would not take much effort on her part. |

It had worked. Both Ethan and Sofia were fooled by Julian's fake apology to Helga the lunch lady. He thought he would be happier about it. While he preferred to not have Fia or Ethan mad at him, he knew full well that he was actually lying to them. He lied to his best friend and a girl that he might be interested in. Funny how lying to people has never bothered him before. Julian pulled this kind of stuff with his parents all the time, and never batted an eye. Maybe he actually wanted these people to be able to trust him. Maybe he already felt like Ethan and even Fia were more family to him, than his actual family back in Beverly Hills. Julian would let this one go, but decided right then to make a more conscious effort to be honest and trust worthy with the people here at Xavier's. It was a chance at a new start, to make a new Julian. One that wasn't such a hellion. Then again, maybe it was the Lucky Charms talking. Their magic reaches far beyond taste. He looked over at the counter again, to see Helga, who was smiling to herself as she wrote on a clipboard. He lied to her too. He manipulated her. Maybe he should leave her a big tip or something. "We should probably go soon-ish. You guys want to show me where the main office is?" "Oh yeah. Definitely." Julian finished the last full spoonful of cereal, and then tilted the bowl to his mouth, and drank the milk gone. Ignoring any disapproving looks this behavior might have provoked. "What? I went running this morning. I needed the protein." He got up from the table. "Take your bowl M'lady?" Julian said with a dramatic flourish as he collected Fia's spoon and empty bowl for her. He pointedly left Ethan's dirty bowl in front of his roommate, and took the bowls to the dirty dish receptacle. Then he felt bad, and TK levitated Ethan's empty bowl over to the kitchen wash as well. Julian needed to start being nicer for hell sake. |

"Don't worry man, she's not glaring at you or anything." Ethan spoke to Julian as he finished his cereal, noting his glance toward the lunch counter. "I'm pretty sure your apology worked, whatever it was. You're all good man," he continued, pushing his bowl away from him. "Yea, figuring out your schedule would probably be a good idea, given that this is a school. I mean, you could avoid it, but that'd probably be a bad idea. You know," he shrugged, looking over to Fia. "We should probably go soon-ish. You guys want to show me where the main office is?" "Yea, sure..." Ethan responded, standing up as he ignored Julian's consumption of milk. "I don't got anything planned for the day until two, so why not?" Not to mention it's really weird just hearing ourselves in here... "Just one thing before we go to the main office, in case you haven't met the headmaster. He may seem intimidating, but he's really not that bad. Nice guy. I can't say the same for the headmistress, since I haven't met her, but I'm sure Mrs. Summers is fine too, in case you see her there instead." Seeing Julian take his bowl, Ethan smiled and nodded to him. "Thanks man," he smiled before pausing for a moment, turning back to Fia. "Oh, and Mr. Summer's glasses aren't for show, don't try to steal them since he never takes them off. I don't think you will, but I know some people who have talked about it," he remarked in a good natured tone, glancing back to Julian. He knows he wouldn't actually do it, but he could give him flak. "But in all seriousness, don't worry." He remarked, turning to leave. "You guys ready to go?" |

Sofia chuckled as Julian took her bowl for her. She smiled appreciatively, then outright laughed when he used his powers to clear Ethan's as well. It was so nice that Julian and apologised, and that put him in good standing with both the staff and herself. "I don't think I'll steal anyone's glasses, really. That is just plain mean," Fia said, shaking her head with a grin. All they could hear now were the sounds of dishes in the kitchens, and she took it as a sign they should depart. Nodding at Ethan's words, she followed the boys out of the cafeteria. While Jono was the one who met her at the train station yesterday, she had been given a tour of the school -- an orientation on where everything was, and the who's who that were around. She knew, of course, that Mr Summers taught Math. It was extremely unfortunate, since Math was undoubtedly her worst subject, and the one she had most difficulty with. She knew that they all said Math was easy with practice, but the logic always seemed to escape her when it came to application in that class. Still, she'd have to try; there wasn't really any other option when the headmaster was teaching it, really. "So far everyone has been really nice, so I'm not particularly worried. I'm sure I'll be more nervous when power-related classes start up, or those one-on-one training sessions, but we'll see." |
