Baby wipes, ziplock bags, tissue boxes, stain remover...

Fia mentally checked off all the items on her shopping list against the things she counted in the canvas shopping tote she carried. It was Saturday afternoon, and having a couple of hours free, she decided to catch the bus into Salem Centre to pick up some things she needed. They always ran through tissues and wet-wipes at the Day Care faster than anywhere else, and it wasn't the first time she came into the town to do a grocery run.

Between the grocery runs, the times she came to the dance supplies story to replace her ribbons or slippers, the bookstore, Fia had become familiar with the small mall strip, and had already decided on her favourite coffee joint, a little nook on the corner that had a red and white awning outside and a constant playlist of Ed Sheeran and Hilary Duff mash ups.

Walking in, she dumped her things at a corner couch next to a window as a bell tinkled in the shop.

"Janey!" she called out, waving to the girl working the espresso machine at the counter.

"Hey Fia," Janey replied with a grin, her blonde hair tied up in a high ponytail. Tossing a dishcloth in a sink, she wiped her hands on her apron then came to get Fia's order.

"The usual, caramel on caramel, please."

"You know it's not actually coffee with that much sugar in it, hun?" Janey said, shaking her head with a grin.

"Aw, you know I need the sugar to remain my happy, cheery self."

Fia paid, then went back to her favourite window seat, taking out her phone to check her messages while waiting for her coffee. The school was hectic, and would only get more hectic now that classes had started up again. Just taking an afternoon away from everything made her feel like she could recharge for the coming week.

"Here you go. Caramel, with milk, extra caramel, and a little coffee."

Jane's voice interrupted her thoughts, and Fia thanked her. Sipping the sweet, sugary drink, she kept her eyes on the street outside, staring into mostly nothing, while her mind whirled with daydreams.

He had been married for almost a year now, his studies were continuing to come on excellently and really there was nothing the future sorcerer supreme could complain about. Autumn was on the horizon now and while Billy loved his life in the city, the school looked so much better than his home in Mutant Town. Given that, Billy believed that it was time that he took the opportunity to return to his former home, something that he had been neglecting for far too long lately. Before he could return to Xavier's though, Billy had to return to one of his favourite haunts in Salem.

Having arrived several minutes before Fia, Billy had already ordered and collected his drink, it was very similar to Fia's. Perhaps unsurprisingly Billy was a fan of any caffeinated drink that came with a stupid mocha frappe extra syrupcino with coco powder on top, and almost every morning he could be found in the queues with the mindless zombies that made use of Starbucks on their way to work.

Currently, Billy was sat nursing his cup and the Belgian bun he had ordered to go with the drink before he made his way up to the school. Almost immediately he spotted Fia collecting her drink, Fia wasn't in the same year as Billy, but Billy had known the aerokinetic from his time at the school and she was nice and enjoyed talking to her anytime.

Grabbing his cardboard cup and the pastry that was currently wrapped in its bag before he left he approached Fia waiting until he was close enough. "Good afternoon," Billy spoke with a grin, "and here I thought I was one of only a handful of students from the school that truly appreciated a good cup of coffee." Yes Billy was a bit of a hispter, his hair currently in the process of growing out and sporting a couple of days of scruff only added to that look. "How've you been Fia? I heard you've taken over from me in the day care." Billy missed working with Rahne and the littleies but he had his place now and he wasn't going to give that up for anything.

Fia was a huge Harry Potter fan. While she didn't read them as a child, she had discovered them in the many lonely hours in her father's NYC apartment. Of course, at first, she longed for spells and witchcraft and magic, seeing them only as a figment of J K Rowling's massive imagination.

And then she had met Billy.

Billy was a reality warper, which meant, essentially, he was one of the coolest people she knew. And that was including -- on a very long list -- Avery, who could talk to plants, Warren, who had wings, Zalek, the Atlantean, and of course, Mr McCoy... Well, who was... Mr McCoy.

The thing was, Billy could do anything. And she always enjoyed chatting with him, and could see immediately why the kids loved him so much. Did no one else get it? Billy could do magic!

It wasn't nearly as simple as that -- Billy had great responsibilities lined up, and had to work very hard to get better and stronger. Of course, until the day he was ready, Fia didn't see any harm in having a bit of fun along the way.

"Hey you! Loving the look with the hair and all..." she said, turning at the sound of his voice and grinning widely. "I wouldn't call this coffee? It's more sugar and caramel than anything else!" she replied, cradling the hot cup with it's eco-friendly coffee sleeve in both hands.

"The kids ask about you sometimes," she laughed, then in a perfect imitation of one of the younger girl's voice said, "Miss Feeeee-yah, why you no make things sparklies like Mr Billy?"

"Why thank you." Billy grinned, "You look pretty awesome yourself as well at the moment. Something seems to have put a spring in your step." Viewing the future was a side of his powers that Billy rarely ever tried to use, the last time he had tried to glance his own future he had failed, and the times before that the physical cost and the time it had taken to get even the most useless piece of information that had played absolutely no part in whatever it was he had been involved in at the time, but Billy did not need to be a seer to know that something had changed recently with Fia, and he was going to find out what that was.

"Caramel and sugar go perfectly with caffeine, though that's not what my parents would say." At least that was what his adoptive parents would say, in many ways they couldn't be any more different to his biological parents so long as he balanced his food out during the day he was pretty sure his bio parents would be more than happy to let him have whatever he wanted when he wanted.

"Awwwww," Billy was most definitely going to have to make a return to the daycare one day when he wasn't needed at the Brownstone or with Stephen, "Maybe if you're lucky one day I'll show you how to make a firework show as good as one of my own." He was teasing of course, Billy couldn't make other people magic, but perhaps there was a way he would be able to help her appear magic to the children she was working with.

"So are you enjoying the daycare? I absolutely loved it when I was there." There was something rewarding about working with the smal children and was something he would most definitely go back to if he ever found himself at a loose end for work.

Fia blushed immediately. There was no reason that anything in her life had changed, but such words were usually meant to refer to something Billy saw in her countenance. It couldn't be, could it? Recently things had been odd with Julian, and while they still spent time together, he had taken to asking her alot about venezuela, about her life before Xaviers. She had shared all that with him before, and it confused her as to why he was still asking.

Her face still pink from the blush, she laughed. Billy was such an easy person to talk to, as long as one did not get intimidated the sheer extent of his powers. Being equally personable, Fia settled in for a good, long-deserved catch up with the sorcerer's apprentice. "At this point, I'm still managing to amaze them with my ultra cool aero-manipulation skills, so that's one good thing," she said laughing.

The last time Anya and Lillian, Billy's young, newborn cousins visited, she had created a wind-manipulated mobile of cloth flowers, the same flowers she had used for Jammy's flower crown. Since then, some of the younger kids had taken to staring at it as they fell asleep for nap time, the lightly swinging flowers calming them into dreamland.

"I do! I learn alot from Rahne, and she's very happy to teach me and to point out places where I can improve, and strangely working there gives me a chance to meet people I wouldn't have normally had a chance to meet if I was just holed up in the dorms or just training."

It was true, the Day Care opened up alot of doors, and Fia had met a lot of people she would not have otherwise met if she had kept to herself. Avery, Anya and Lillian's mom was just one example. The plant-manipulator was one of the nicest, warmest people she knew, who happened to be married to one of the grumpiest.

"Although I gotta say, I can't wait for your littlest cousins to join the class. If they are as much speedsters as your uncle and your brother, it's going to be a fun time."

Fia half wondered if Pietro would be one of those hovering fathers who just stood standing, intimidatingly at the door while Fia worked at the Day Care. She believed in letting kids learn through mistakes, and also that some fun would be had in falling down. If Pietro hovered over their shoulders.... Well, that would not make for a very relaxing time. Quicksilver's temper was legendary.

"How are Avery and Pietro doing with the twins? They must be turning almost two months old now... Oh and your mom?" Fia had never met the Scarlett Witch, though they had all seen the beautiful roses on the grounds.

Billy just grinned as he watched Fia's cheeks flush with blood, "Your body is giving it away for you." It was hard not to try and get all the information out of Fia at once, "I expect you to tell me all about him, or is it a her?" He questioned, "Either way when you're ready." Of course this was all a little bit of gossip, and it would go no further than either of them, Billy was just trying to keep tapped into the happenings at the school now that he was no longer a part of the day to day life at the school.

"I bet that's really handy when it comes to nap time," Billy could just imagine all the little ones napping and Fia rocking them off to bed all at once with a few gentle gusts of wind, "And is pretty good at keeping the room smelling fresh after lunch," Because little kids always stank after they'd had their food, that was just part of not being fully in control of their bodies.

"I can completely understand that, granted a lot of the newborns in recent years have been related to me, I got to meet a lot more parents when helping out there. Talking of my adorable little cousins, how are they doing?" Fia spoke of their powers, and Billy gained that look that he knew far more about this topic than he was letting on. "I couldn't possibly confirm or deny that at some point in the future they will develop the same sort of speed that Pietro and Tommy possess." It was a given, reality warping had come to him, energy manipulation had come to Tommy it was only natural that Anya and Lil inherited the same powers as their parents.

"Teddy and I actually had the twins yesterday, they were adorable. I think Pietro and Avery are doing pretty well, especially given that they so easily separated from them, which so many parents seem to struggle with." Billy smiled, looking forward to the next time he got to look after the twins so that he could continue on with their education.

"As for mom, well she's mom." There were days when Wanda was here fully in this time, and there were days when Wanda was wandering the wider worlds, "I think she's still busy with getting ready for her wedding, and doing the SHIELD thing. She loves the new additions to the family," Everyone in the family did, though with Joseph being missing there were some clouds hanging over the sky at the moment.

"It's a him," Fia replied honestly. She trusted Billy, and more to the point, she knew Billy would have his own way of finding out even if she didn't tell him. Some how, he simply knew things, and as Fia had no issues with admitting her strange, burgeoning relationship with Julian, she simply spoke openly to her friend.

"Although to be honest, it's more confusing than anything else. I don't know if you know him; his name is Julian Keller, and he's a new student this year as well... Actually, Rachel is his mentor, so maybe she's mentioned him," Fia said with a shrug.

"We're just good friends, but things are... Weird at the moment. I feel like I haven't seen him in ages, and we used to always have breakfast together, and hang out in the evenings... Now I don't know... I don't see him, I guess."

She took a sip of her coffee and thought for a moment, before voicing something she hadn't yet said to anyone else. "Maybe he's hanging out with other people... I mean, there's no reason he should spend all his time with me, right?" she added the last line, as if to justify Julian's absence on his behalf.

Fia only laughed when Billy spoke about his cousins. She knew he knew more than he was letting on, but things were complicated when it came to world peace and timelines, and Fia had learnt not to ask. Billy would share if he could, and there was really no point in pushing him.

"I was just joking to Rahne the other day that we're gonna need extra help once they start crawling. As it is, I'm just tired out keeping up with Nate for an afternoon."

The twins were good girls, probably a testament to Avery's good temper. Still, she remembered the first day she had them, and smiled when Billy said that his husband had been around to help.

Fia wasn't nearly as familiar with Teddy as the rest of the Maximoff (regardless of last names) clan, but she heard only good things about him.

"You can't not love them. They are excellent!!" Fia said. Clearly she too was enamoured of the girls. They were so well behaved and pretty, and that green. "After all, green is an excellent colour -- Lorna's said so a couple of times," she quipped cheerfully, referring to Nate's green-haired mother.

"Uhuh," Billy nodded along and gave Fia that look of you better carry on or I'm going to have to magic the answers out of you. Thankfully Fia was not the sort to be such a tease and the use of magic to get answers was most definitely not needed here as she carried on speaking about this mysterious boy that had come into her life. "Keller... Keller..." Billy recited the name as if it were to jog a memory of someone he might have known in the school, in truth though Billy did not know many of the newest recruits to the student body as he no longer spent as much time as he'd like at the school.

"Can't say that the name is overly familiar, I might have run across him at some point, though," Fia continued to speak of how they always spent their time together and now they didn't seem to do that, "Boys are like that, or at least straight boys are." Billy was given a perfect insight into the straight mind with his twin who at times was like the polar opposite of the kind and caring Billy. "He's probably hanging with other people and not thinking too much that you might be missing him, boys are pretty dumb." Not that Billy was really that much older than Julian, but when it came to matters of the heart, Billy would profess to be somewhat more experienced.

"Oh yes Nate is a little handful, and it's only going to get worse as more and more House of M children turn up," Billy, of course had insiders information as to exactly how many more there would be, and that he would not share but that class of Xavier's students was most likely going to be the most trying that the school will ever see.

"We do seem to have something of a weakness for the colour green in our family," Billy with Teddy, Pietro with Avery and his daughters and Lorna with her hair, "If Teddy and I ever decide to have kids," And more importantly how they decided they were going to make them, "They will most likely inherit a little green from Teddy." Thankfully on that front Billy did not possess insider information and that was one area of his life he would like to remain a secret until it was ready to happen in this timeline.

"Care for some company for the afternoon?" While Billy could quite happily waste an entire afternoon in a coffee shop, he was quite aware that Fia might not be as willing to do so as he was.

"I don't miss him," Fia said immediately, before she paused and a flush took over her face. "Huh. I guess you know me better than me," she told Billy, a silly smile on her face.

"Am I so obvious?" Fia asked, playfully twirling a lock of hair around one finger. "I really am not sure how I feel. Or if anything I'm feeling is even real, or it's just all in my head..."

She leaned forward to cradle the sweet coffee in her hands, and for a moment wondered if Billy would kindly break the laws of time and give her a slight glimpse into the future. Just a small one.

This was all knew to the wind manipulator. She had gone through life relatively sheltered from the worldly matters, as far as relationships went. First, protected by her loving mother, and later, hidden by her humiliated father. While there were some things that Fia had seen -- death, pain, hurt, loneliness, abandonment, but others, she remained relatively sheltered. She had boys after her before but... This, this was a whole new level of emotions.

"I was going to sit and stew on Julian for a while, but you are always welcome company," she said with a coy grin. "After all, you always know how I feel and what I'm thinking of, so chatting with you is a breeze." Her tone might be teasing, but Fia meant every word. Talking to Billy, though they didn't get to hang out often, was always relaxing, and she come out of conversations feeling clearer about what she was thinking of.

"Actually, aside from boy-troubles..." she hedged for a moment, unsure if she'd be able to ask Billy about power-related issues, and decided to ask him anyway. Billy was a sorcerer's apprentice. If anything could help her, magic would.

"I don't know what to do with my powers," Fia said openly. "I can control them, and I feel them, and I connect... But how do I know what to do with them? I feel like I should have a plan or something..."
