Jammy nodded when Sofia asked him to get the boards. "Sure. I'll catch up with you in a bit," he said, as everyone began hauling stuff to a spot to set up. He felt like he ought to be doing the heavy lifting, but they had it covered. No need to act like they couldn't handle it just cause he could do it easier. Anyway when everyone was worn out at the end of the day he could do it. When he caught up with them he had the board Fia requested and an assortment he picked out for the others in case they wanted to surf too. He didn't know who else might besides Julian. He was pretty sure his friend missed it as much as he did if not more. It wasn't long before half their group was in the water. He watched them rush in with a grin, and realized he hadn't needed to grab a board for Zalek. He'd made his own. Neat. He followed suit with his own board, with more effort and splashing involved than either of the others ahead of him but not a bit less enjoyment as he got thoroughly soaked. The waves weren't so big that he worried about Ahura back with Jess and Julian. It'd be a good place to learn, especially with Fia and Zalek there. They could make it damn near perfect. He couldn't think of a better way to spend a summer day. Though, he wished Micah had come along. Oh well. He couldn't have it all. Still some distance away from the others, he waved and stuck his tongue out at them. |

Serious and stoic were words often applied to Daisy Johnson and today was no exception. The idea of a trip to the beach had excited her greatly, the reality of it however had been far more problematic. She’d said yes within about 10 seconds of learning that the Atlantean would be there. She now saw that as a far too quick error and worried about her own impulsiveness. She didn’t like doing things just to do them after all and the idea of chasing after a boy, any boy, just because he looked amazing with his shirt off sat wrongly in her brain. But she had agreed and most of her friends would be there and she did like spending time with Jessica Vale when she could get it. So with the thoughts of abs and sun in her mind she piled in with the rest of them. She made sure to chose a spot away from Fia, who would talk the whole way, and Zalek, who she’d watch the whole way and had quickly slipped into her own little world of music and thoughts of what the next semester of school would bring. She had become so practiced at this that within 10 minutes she had drowned out her worries, including those over Ahura, and completely zoned out. It wasn’t until she found herself alone in the SUV that she snapped back to current events and took a quick poll of what needed to be done. The others got to the gear and seemed to be in the water in less time than it took for the Oregon girl to get out of the vehicle. She took a careful look about, noting the beach, the water, and any people around. Even though the Purifiers had been years ago, being in public, especially in the complete lack of protection a swimsuit provided, always made her a little wary. She reached up to pull her earbuds out and with the other hand tapped in a call to the school. She made sure to let them know they had arrived safe, who all was here, and to even compliment Julian’s driving before hanging up. Another series of taps set up her beach playlist and connected it wirelessly with the only thing besides her clothing and phone she had brought, her Big Blue Party Speaker. Quake had to have her bass regardless of where she went after all. She didn’t bring a surfboard as she had never owned one or surfed in her life. She was far more of a swim type, and in truth didn’t even like going out that far. Water was a lot of fun, especially as it carried vibrations much further and far more efficiently then air or earth, but it just wasn’t her element. Seeing the groups split into a Jammy/ Fia/Zalek blend on boards, and a more domestic Jessica/Julian/Ahura set she found herself torn. Andy for some reason refused to be sorted by her over analytical mind, she blamed the valley girl thing for that. Though her eyes were on the man with the great body and literal homemade surfboard, she decided surfing was beyond her for now. She slipped out of her hoodie and skimmed off her shorts and beat feet to catch up to the two J’s and the two A’s. |

Wind Manipulation/Flight

Coming off the first wave, Fia dived off the board and into the water, surfacing moments later, exhilarated. Her sigh of contentment was barely audible under the crashing sounds of the ocean. As she broke the water, her tendrils of her hair sticking to her face and neck, she shot Zalek a grin, and heard his comment. "Well, he can't surf if there are no waves, and I think there, we've got him beat," she said, laughing. Climbing back onto the board, she straddled it and aerokinetically propelled herself forward just as she saw Jammy coming towards them. Jammy, a California kid, and Fia sent a scooping gust of wind over to give him a nice crest to ride on. "What's everyone doing on the shore?" Fia mused, holding a hand over her eyes to shade them. Jessica, who Fia was sure was keen to surf, was evidently making sure that everyone was okay, and Fia felt a little bit guilty for not staying back to help out. Still, it was a school trip, and a sign-up trip as well, so they'd all known before hand what was expected of them. And of course, with Jess, a precog, as chaperone, and Zalek, there was really little to no dangers of any unexpected mishaps. "I'm going to grab Julian so he can come and show use these surfing skills he's always talking about," Fia called to Zalek, her powers making her voice carry. With that, she let the winds push her and the board towards the shoreline, the moving air whipping her hair dry. As she came to the edge of the water, she rose from the board gracefully, then skipped over to those set up under the umbrellas. "Guys, the water is amazing!" she exclaimed, coming to sit, cross-legged in front of Julian and facing the rest. Having grown up so near the ocean, she was extremely used to walking around in swim-wear. "Are you guys going to swim? Maybe surf? Jess, you ready to get your surfer girl vibes on?" she said with a teasing smirk. |

"Ahura, it's really fun- just you watch. Once you've seen us on the water, you'll want to try too!" Fia said, and Ahura stared at her in shock. "No, I won't!" he said, firmly, "You'll call the Surfer down on us. It's mockery! It's just plain making fun of him and if he comes, the World Destroyer does too." He waved a hand at the ocean where now Zalek was on a board as well, and he shook his head, tears starting to come to his eyes, "You don't understand... It's not right. It's..." He looked around and saw that no one was paying attention to him anymore. He sat down on the sand, and said, "You have no respect for the cosmic gods..." Plopping his elbows on his knees, he looked glumly at the water where everyone was now casually mocking the Surfer and attempting to mimic his strange mode of travel through space. Maybe his uncle was right about the Earthers. Maybe they were bad people... or maybe they were just not smart enough to be afraid. "Do you swim, Ahura? I mean all of you do know how to swim, right?...If not, now's a great time to learn." Miss Jess asked. He looked up at her, "No. I haven't ever seen this much water in my whole life. I don't think I want to learn how to swim... if that means mocking the Surfer like everyone else is." The little boy sighed, "My Mother and Father did not send me to Earth to call the Destroyer down on us." Turning his head upwards to look at the sky, his eyes suddenly went wide, "Look! Miss Jess, look!" he pointed up at the pale moon visible in the day time sky. "LOOK! You can see the moon in the day! In the day! Maybe Mother and Father are looking down at me right now, to see me at the edge of an ocean... Do you think they are?" |

Looking out over the ocean, and seeing all his classmates have fun in the wave, made Julian pretty happy. They were almost like normal kids, which sucked. Truth was they were so much more than normal kids, and yet they were the ones forced to hide, or pretend to be something else. Zalek looked nice with his image inducer. It was odd to see the Atlantian looking make everyone else, but Zalek shouldn't have to hide who he really is. None of them should. Oh well, this was not the time for such thoughts. Julian was just finishing up putting on his own sun block. His didn't want a splotchy tan or any weird lines so he took care to get it evenly. Now he needed someone to do his back. Back on his parent's private beach, Julian would have just used his TK to up the lotion on. He got quite good at it. Maybe if could step away and do it anyway, when nobody was looking. Then he decided it was still too risky. Damn green glow. Then an answer to his problem. Fia came running up to him saying something about surfing. Before he could ask her, he was caught off guard by the sight of her in her bathing suit. He paused for a moment, the thought that he shouldn't stare at her ringing clearly in his mind. It was the only thing that kept him from being creepy. "Er, uh. Could you put some sunblock on my back?" he finally managed to ask her. Julian handed her the bottle and turned, presenting his back to her. "By the way, I know you and Zalek are using your powers. That is cheating Fia. Surfing is about skill. It's like that time we were having a flying race, and you cheated so you could win. Or wait, that might have actually been me." He said with mock pensive, and a flirtation laden smile. He laughed a little even, at the memory. It only took a wink and a smile for Julian to throw Fia off her game. It was a trick he wouldn't be able to pull off a second time. Julian then noticed that Ahura seemed a little upset about something. He couldn't hear what the boy was saying, but it was no longer the excited look of wonderment he had expected the from the kid on his first trip to the ocean. |
