During his time in the Shi’ar he often wore black on black suits usually with gold accessories in usual Madripoori style. He would occasionally go slumming prior to becoming Majestor to explore Low Town, or go undercover for the Imperial Guard and felt most comfortable in jeans a black t-shirt and a hoodie, or a jacket with a hood generally to keep his face out of sight from others. That was his past life, now as long as something was comfortable, efficient, and not utterly ridiculous looking, he would wear it without complaint for the time being.

POWERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Geothermal Energy Channeling:
Gabriel was born with his mutation and his X-Gene activated it even before he was out of his mother’s womb. His primary abilities is merely just being a conduit for the Earth’s naturally occurring geothermal energy, and then to manipulate it into a few various uses. An analogy to demonstrate how this power works is to think of it like an electrical appliance or object that requires to be plugged in, it has as much power as it needs to function as long as the energy source is there, or the “cord” doesn’t get pulled too far where it disconnects. This is both a boon and a bane for Gabriel, as it means he doesn’t normally have to worry about absorbing energy like some other energy wielders might, however it also means the moment he is away from his source of power (the Earth, or potentially other sources of Geothermal energy), he becomes powerless. He has roughly a 10 Km radius he can be from a source of energy for him to use any of his powers, it’s his “cord”. This “cord” will typically find itself “plugging in” at the deeper end of the Earth’s crust, to the upper areas of the Earth’s mantle, typically at a temperature range of 200°C (392°F) to 400°C (752°F) for the Earth’s crust, and 500°C (932°F) to 900°C (1652°F) for the upper portion of the mantle. What portion he is tapped into depends on his own location as every portion of the Earth has a varying depth of the crust. Even after the volcanic activity that was set up in New York by Vulcan’s plans themselves, New York is still a lower geothermic activity area after the damage caused was reduced compared to Hawaii or Nevada or anywhere near geysers, volcanos, hot springs and other naturally occurring heat sources across the globe.

The capabilities of this energy channelling are usually about the same at all times across the globe, though their intensity varies depending upon how much Geothermal energy is available. Less energy to utilize, means less power he can exert. However, in the rare cases of being around too much geothermal energy like something rivaling the outer or inner core of the Earth, it can give him an immense boost in power, however this can cause an overload and burn his mind and body out after prolonged usage. He is capable of handling the power drawn from as deep as the lowest portions of the mantle without overloading himself, though this would still be rare and out of his normal limit and would require special circumstances to achieve.

Passive Traits and Abilities of Mutation:
Gabriel’s body also seemingly has taken on some very minor changes because of his mutation in order to deal with his constant channeling of Geothermal Energy and living in a highly active area fueling his powers almost his entire life. Like an appliance plugged into a wall outlet, even when it’s not in use, it’s still pulling energy, and energy has to go somewhere. In Gabriel’s case, his body temperature is always higher than a normal humans, which helps fight off naturally bacteria and infections, he is capable of getting sick but it does not happen often. His average body temperature tends to be around 108.6°F (42.5°C), or roughly ten degrees fahrenheit above the typical human body.

His mutation also grants him immunity to damage caused by heat and fire, and he rarely notices a temperature increase unless it’s an incredibly high change due to this, an example is the heat from boiling hot water (212°F) might feel lukewarm by comparison to him, and he and his internal organs would suffer no damage from drinking it. He can even physically survive swimming in lava on a heat level only, though toxic fumes from it would still cause damage. The same could be said about smoke inhalation from fire damage.

Gabriel also has tendency that he himself is not fully aware of all the time of causing the area around him to increase in temperature, though it usually is so minimal few really ever notice it, but typically when in a moment of rage, passion or other intense emotions, he can cause a very minimal activation of his powers without the usual golden glow of his eyes or hands. The temperature increase is not very significant compared to his active usage of his powers, but they can be noticeable and tend to range between a 5°F and 10°F increase within couple of feet within proximity of Gabriel’s body and dissipates completely by roughly 10ft.

Limited Touch Based Thermokinisis:
His first active mutation that he did not possess at birth but grew into around the age of 13 was the ability to channel the geothermal energy to heat up objects at a rapid pace but only while touching the object. When activating this power, his eyes will glow a vibrant golden color. His powers only work on contact alone, and the longer the contact, the higher the temperature increase. This temperature increase does affect the entire body temperature of the target, though it is strongest in the area near point of contact and takes slightly more time to spread through the rest of the body. Point of contact and roughly the area of a cubic foot of the object touched within point of contact will heat up at a rate of 2°C a centisecond (1/10th of a second) at its lowest strength, and can increase the rate of temperature increased based on what level of geothermal temperature of the area he is currently attached to at roughly a ratio of 1:100 per centisecond. As an example, if the area he is currently at at 10km only has a geothermal temperature of 500°C, it could be a rate of 5°C a centisecond temperature rise upon contact and activation of this ability. Once physical contact of himself and the object he is heating up is broken, the object will begin dropping in temperature at a normal rate, though this process can take time varying upon a variety of factors like what is the object, how does it cool itself down, environmental factors, etc. The maximum temperature that an object can be increased to varies depending upon his level of power at the time which correlates to his location like the rest of his mutant abilities. Whatever the temperature of the geothermal point he is connected to is at, will be the maximum temperature he can increase an object to.

Gabriel has the potential to control this power more, though he has not experimented with this much, under his teaching and training he is used to only using his powers to kill without restraint. However, with new training and effort, he could actually lower the temperature increase, or even use the ability to keep something at a constant temperature at a higher than normal temperature, or maintain something hot at its current temperature if it is within his range of power to do so. To achieve this level of restraint and control however will take time, effort, and a degree of emotional control and mental concentration on Gabriel’s part.

Thermal Kinetic Energy Blasts:
His last and possibly greatest ability of his mutation came at the age of 16 after he let himself get consumed by anger and rage during an emotional moment of his teenage life, the revelation of his true parentage and the loss of an eye. Frustration bubbled and boiled until he exploded with golden-orange energy. This is his true pinnacle of his power, and the touched based thermokinisis was a stepping stone of growth (though he can still perform the ability). Gabriel can tap into his current energy source if it is strong enough (an area needs a geothermal energy source that creates a temperature of 300°C or higher). When using this ability, it presents itself in a visual effect of glaring golden-orange energy around his hands and his eyes, this energy at higher sources of power becomes more intense and spreads further up his arms and can potentially even surround his entire body. This visual is just excess of the energy his mind is preparing to channel into a focused blast of unique combination of thermal and kinetic energy, and the visual display does no real damage unless one were to expose their body to the energy for a long period of time (more than 10 minutes) and they may not suffer more than something equivalent to a light sunburn.

Gabriel has two primary focus points to direct this energy, either one or both of his hands, or both of his eyes. Though capable of directing this energy anywhere from his body, it is far more complex to do so and the time of battle and his own training of the power, it is a far simpler and quicker method of focusing the energy to one or two points of his body.

The heat of the blasts are equivalent to whatever point of geothermal temperature is at, and does not alter for the entire length of the blast. The kinetic force of the blasts are also equal in strength (one eye = one hand, two eyes = two hands) no matter at what point he focuses a blast from.

Channeling and focusing the energy into his eyes produces a more concentrated and thinner beam of energy that does not go as far but has far more pressure per square inch of the beam compared to a blast coming from his hands, or other places of his body. The width of the blasts starts at a point of about an inch per eye and will widen out to 6 inches by 3 inches at about 10 feet from the starting point, and become wide enough to become a single beam at roughly 5 feet away from his face. The max range of the eye blasts are 30 yards, though they significantly reduce in pressure as the beams widen, so typically Gabriel does not use this ability at a long range, and usually it is used like a short range gunshot or to cut through something like a laser. The eye beams are capable of piercing and cutting through 1 inch thick solid steel at a close range, though the cutting part may take some time and focusing without distraction, though this may become easier if the thermal levels of his power are higher based on his location.

He more commonly seen wielding his power through his hands that look like they are wreathed in a golden fire, though it is not actually fire despite what many initially think when they see his powers. Energy focused and released from his hands are typically far more variable in use, able to focus them down to the size of his fist, to widening a single beam from a hand to about 5 feet, or 10 feet when combining a blast from both hands. Where his eye beams are more like a focused cutting tool or a bullet of energy, the kinetic force of his hands is more like like something like a cannonball, however the force of the blast varies depending on the width and range. The tighter the energy blast is, the stronger the pressure of the blast is per square inch, but will require either closer proximity to a target or more concentration and focus to keep a tighter focus on the blast which isn't always the easiest to do in the heat of battle. A wider beam has a much easier time finding the target just from the size, but will lack some of the punch, though it is still quite powerful.

Gabriel is capable of doing a bit more with this manipulation of energy though he has not been given the time to train in the various uses his powers are potentially capable of. One he has used but mostly after survival instinct kicked in on a few occasions was to pull the energy around his entire body and then have it all explode outward in an explosive bubble. This bubble expands in a radius of about 10 feet from Gabriel’s body, and is possibly the least lethal use of the energy, as it is mostly meant to be an emergency defensive measure to knock back opponents to give him space and a chance to regain the edge of battle, or make an escape. This explosive bubble of energy only lasts an instant however, and if used too often in short succession can wear Gabriel out more quickly than his other abilities, mostly because he is not trained in how to knowingly activate it beyond instinct.

Something that could be seen as a boon or a bane to Gabriel’s powers is that he has very little experience or training in how to restrain the force of his powers. He was learned and trained to use them to kill, nothing more nothing less. However he is capable of reducing the force of a blast to make sure it won't kill, same with potentially concentrating a blast from his hand(s) to be as focused as his eye beams. He has even briefly used his powers to turn himself into a projectile of sorts for an imitation of the ability to fly, though this was under unique conditions involving an open portal to the center of the earth which would have overloaded his mind using so much power if it were not for obtaining a fragment of the Phoenix Force right after the battle.

Now given the chance he is genuinely curious about how much can he actually do and whether or not he is nothing but an instrument of destruction, is he capable of being more?

Knowledge and Experience:
Gabriel is more than just his mutant powers, and has been trained in a variety of martial arts, use of weapons, as well as various other skills that were essential to completing and surviving his missions for the Shi’ar prior to becoming Majestor of the criminal empire.

He is trained in the use of various firearms and prior to gaining a natural long range attack, he used hand guns very often though often favored sniper rifles and long range weapons to kill from a distance when possible. While it has been some time since he has used any of these weapons, the skill and knowledge of firearm use and care is still in his mind, and maybe his aim might be off at first, he could quickly become an experienced shot again in little time.

His favored weapon to use were swords, and he is an experienced swordsman which always seemed to be a tradition with the Neramani family, and something they prided themselves on. Gabriel preferred choice was to use two short blades that easily handled in one hand each, and he often would channel his thermokinetic powers into the blades to further the possible damage, though also instantly cauterize any cuts to reduce the amount of blood being left behind as evidence. He is quite capable of using other bladed weapons as well, but the twin blades were just a favorite of his.

While he has managed to design his own close quarters hand to hand martial arts style that mixed various methods and his own unique abilities together. Gabriel is skilled and trained in multiple different styles of martial arts, including but not limited to Krav Maga, jiujitsu, and boxing to name a few. His own personal style combines aspects of the other forms, with a focus on heated punches, and grappling an opponent to give him the ability to use his thermokinetic abilities to cause internal burns on vital organs or the brain.

Beyond combat related knowledge, Gabriel had a high end and rigorous education, with a primary focus on languages so he could go to multiple nations for various missions and still communicate and blend in with local. Madripoor itself is also a highly multicultural area with most people speaking not only Madripoori, but languages from around the globe. His first language he learned was Madripoori, and the following others came later on from his education as well as what he attempted to teach himself. Known languages are; Madripoori, Mandarin, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Italian, German, French, Hindi (knows enough to get by), Latin (self taught rough ability), and Latverian (was just starting to learn this during the events of the Illuminati to better deal with the Latverian people). Due to the various languages he has learned and people he has met and dealt with, Gabriel has a very unique accent that always marks him as a foreigner no matter what language he is speaking, but it can be hard for most to figure out where his country of origin might be.

Being born and raised on an island nation, as well as being a member of its military forces, and his own sheer fascination, Gabriel has learned a wide range of nautical knowledge, and knows how to pilot and operate various functions of most seafaring vessels. He has taken part in many positions on the warships and understand the basic mechanical aspects of the ships, though is better suited for navigation and commanding the ship.

WEAKNESS:
Heights/Distance and Overloading:
Gabriel’s powers as previously stated are like a cord that is plugged into an electrical outlet to power up a big appliance. Things are all well and good when he is “plugged in”, but the moment he gets outside of that connection, just the slightest bit away from a Geothermal energy source, he loses all of his active powers. On top of that if the source he is connected to is not very high in energy, he can't even use the full extent of his powers and the ones he can use are severely limited. So his greatest weakness is basically being sent up into the air above his 10 kilometer cord can reach, and he will just shut down.

However this short of a connection does have some benefits, as if it was much longer to be able to reach the depths of the Earth’s core, he would gain tremendous power, but his body and mind are simply not prepared to process and channel this much energy for a long period of time, and he only is capable of utilizing the power of the core and lowest portion of the Earth’s mantle for roughly 10 minutes without some sort of assistance (like when he used a fragment of the Phoenix Force after a fight where he utilized an open portal to the core of the Earth to recover instantaneously). He typically will go into a manic state of mind after even brief exposure to such a high level of energy. Unless specifically designed for it, clothing starts to melt and burn apart, normal cloth would just turn to ash almost instantly and his body will become wreathed in golden-white energy that just burns incredibly bright (which could be a disadvantage when trying to be stealthy). He gets the mentality of needing and desiring to use his power, taking larger and more dangerous risks than he normally would, until he just burns out and then will collapse. Depending on how much of this power and how long his exposure was, he could be unconscious for a short period of time, to potentially falling into a comatose like state and will remain in such a state for a period of time until his mind repairs itself enough to be ready to use his powers again.

Psychological Effects:
As previously mentioned during a period when his power overload he can go into a manic state of mind, where he feels like he has more physical energy than he really does, he will even feel amazing, but can become completely irrational and can even have trouble distinguishing friend from foe, he just gets into a state of feeling his power has to be used and it feels too good not to use it. However, also mentioned that this state of mania can be rather rare.

However it does not mean he doesn’t experience similar issues on the psychological side when near higher geothermal energy spots, just far less. Gabriel likes and enjoys the feeling of his power, the warmth of them, and in a sense he’s addicted to his own powers. This mostly occurred because he was born and raised in a highly active geothermal area only miles away from a still active volcano on Madripoor. It just felt good to be near it and when he wasn’t he felt weaker, and colder. He will feel sluggish and not himself when the energy is weaker, though it's more like a withdrawal effect of going from what is usually the highest point, to a world wide average or lower. Though probably good for him to be away from the high levels of energy rather than live in them all the time, he doesn’t personally care for it and ends up leaving him more irritable than normal. He is capable of readjusting once he is exposed to an area for a long period of time to withdraw from the effects of living in a high energy area for a long period of time. If this is done, as long as he doesn’t end up spending months or years almost constantly exposed to the high or even low energy, he could potentially be cured from the psychological effects of his powers.

Physical Effects:
Withdrawal from his any energy source from him can be dangerous, after a short period of time while his mutation is still active but he is removed from the range of being connected to any geothermal source of energy or some alternative (i.e. the Phoenix force), he will maybe last a few minutes, but after that he will go into shock of not having his normal source of heat and power. This shock can potentially be fatal as his body will quickly begin to drop in temperature, and within 10 minutes he will go from a body temperature of 108.6 to the low 90’s. He will begin shaking and his body will try to do everything it can to warm up but it might not be enough and he could simply die from the effects.

Physical Atrophy:
Gabriel has been in a coma for over two years and his muscles have atrophied significantly to the point he will either need the assistance of a mutant to heal his body to revitalize organs, or a tremendous amount of physical therapy to regain the physical ability to do the basics of just being able to walk and take care of himself, and then even more on top of that to get his body back to the condition that he was in prior to his coma. His personality and drive alone will push himself harder than perhaps he should at one moment, which may end up helping or hurting his time recovering.

PERSONALITY
Anger and pride, potentially were two of Gabriel’s strongest defining personality features prior to his loss as the Phoenix. His anger still persists though now it is in the form of self loathing and regret. He despises and regrets the person or monster he had become and an internal conflict that he he has known most of his life once again is at war within himself, however the tide of that war has shifted. In that shifting tide of internal conflict however, he is in completely uncharted territory without an idea of how to guide himself out of it or should he continue forward and go where he has not been before. It also instills a feeling he pushed aside for a long while since D’Ken’s death, fear.

He realizes he allowed his once glorious idea of Madripoor slip through his fingers and he became the very thing he always thought he would be better than, and he has no idea how to atone for his actions. When he was a host to a fragment of the Phoenix Force, it unlocked parts of him he kept under control or locked away which drove him to the mindset that he held while in such an immense amount of power. He would claim it was the Phoenix telling him the right path, but he knows that it was his own rage against the world that twisted him and others from something innocent to something twisted and cruel. He deeply regrets not being more in control of himself during that time, and regrets various decisions he had made over his short reign as ruler of Madripoor.

When not brooding, self loathing, or trying to figure out the next step in his recovery, Gabriel still has his normal personality. He’s highly competitive, usually with himself unless he feels outclassed by someone else in an area that he is completely capable of being better than them at. He is reasonable with himself about whether or not he can compete with someone in a specific area, an example is that he isn’t going to challenge someone with superhuman speed to a foot race and force himself to train to be better than someone who is just naturally gifted in an area he can’t compete in. Gabriel is intelligent, but often his own emotions (mainly anger) can get in the way of that intellect, and when he is capable of staying calm he can outsmart many and has done so before. He loves reading and learning from books or even others, and it is likely that his desire to learn and compete is from a self imposed belief that he always needs to be better.

During his recovery process he will push himself much harder than he likely should, both physically and mentally, but it's likely no one is really going to be able to stop him from trying except by force or severely knocking him down a peg. He is the type that will become obsessed with something and then completely forget about time itself until he passes out from exhaustion until he is where he is satisfied at the moment, or something else forces him to put his attention elsewhere. It’s more or less because of external problems that he just doesn’t spend all his time exercising his body or mind on a daily basis only stopping to eat and sleep, sometimes not even for those two necessities. This mentality of always having to be better is both inherent but was was enforced during childhood with the crack of a whip or worse punishment in the event he failed somewhere. In the world of the Shi’ar, it didn’t matter that you were a child learning, failure tended to mean death, and Gabriel for the longest time refused that possibility. Now there are times where he wishes death was the punishment to his latest and greatest failure, because the new life coming at him is going to be something he never has learned to deal with, family and people who aren’t outright there to use him.

HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE
Gabriel’s life started the moment his mother’s ended on a dark day in mid-June. The cold of death quickly overcoming his mother, Katherine Summers, at the hands of D’Ken Neramani, who had her body taken to a medical examination room so she could be buried with some respect. The reason was that during the time that the Summers took refuge in the Shi’ar, D’Ken found himself admiring Katherine Summers, though why he admired her went to the grave. During the examination and prepping for burial, the Shi’ar doctors discovered that there was still a second heartbeat within the woman. The child was somehow still alive even after his mother was no longer of this world. The boy was removed from his mother and quickly examined, discovering that he possessed the X-Gene and somehow was keeping himself alive despite the doctor’s logic. When D’Ken found out about the child later that evening after dealing with the boy’s father, he initially ordered it to be killed, until D’Ken looked at the child that had his mother’s eyes. A rare moment of compassion by the ruthless young Majestor, spared the boy and gave him to the childless wife of one of the Imperial Guardi, stating to them both that they will raise the child until D’Ken figures out if he is useful or not.

For years it seemed like the boy had a relatively normal life for the upper echelon of Madripoor, he was visited every so often by the Majestor during his youth though he did not learn why until he was ready to attend school. One day, D’ken gave the boy a choice, to test the boy and made him choose which would live, a pet dog that he had been given as a birthday present years early, or the woman that had raised him since birth. For a child it was an upsetting choice, but the boy known as Adam made it and he chose the life of someone who raised him like a mother, rather than his beloved pet that was one of two friends he had in the entire world. Pleased with his willingness, D’ken then began to start taking over some parental duties over time in the raising of the boy, until Adam was all but D’Ken’s son legally and began to live in the Neramani household.

Once in the household, D’Ken continued to nurture the boy into taking on the twisted majestor’s own set of morals; however Adam still was not born black in soul like the Majestor. He would operate in the majestor’s orders, but on his own terms. Until the boy was at the start of puberty and was faced in an unfair fight that D’Ken had paid several older children start with young Adam. The plan was to force Adam to further manifest his mutant powers in the controlled situation. The project succeeded with flying colors as an angry Adam burned three of the five boys to their death with a touch of his hand. The event traumatized Adam and left him frightened of his own abilities, but the Majestor comforted the boy by lavishing him with gifts and telling him that his power was a great gift that he could use over others to do what he wanted.

Adam continued to use his powers after that, and the numbers he killed grew over time as D’Ken manipulated the young man’s desire to become a hero to the Shi’ar into making him his personal executioner. His ability to burn people alive from the inside out pleased D’Ken greatly, and pleased the Majestor even more as he knew it began to spread fear throughout the empire as the reputation of the majestor’s new pet.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 7th through April 12th, 2009)
During the Apocalypse, Adam worked with the rest of the Imperial Guard as best as he could though he was just a 15 year old mutant at the time, and while he was on his way to becoming an experienced member of the guard despite his young age, he was still just a boy. Soon during the storm that allowed a slave riot to occur in Madripoor, D’Ken called back Adam to the Shi’ar building so the boy could be a weapon in case any threatened the majestor. Which of course is exactly what happened by the time Adam made his way back to the building. Bursting into the room with eyes blazing orange Adam grabbed one of the men by the face and heated his brain up to a point where the cells died. Another slave, a mutant, then started to attack both Adam and the Majestor with pyrotechnic abilities, which did not seem to affect Adam at all when he braced to shield the Majestor. Not taking time to be confused, Adam charged forward and grabbed the mutant and snapped his neck. D’Ken seeing Adam’s flaring eyes, heat powered abilities and apparent immunity to the flames gave the boy a new name, Vulcan, after the Roman God of Fire.

POST-APOCALYPSE
Shortly after his sixteenth birthday he was inducted as a formal member of the Imperial Guard, making history as the youngest member as well. However unlike many other members, he was always kept close at the side of the Majestor, so his first task as a Guard member was to accompany D’Ken on a short cruise into waters where supposedly the Starjammers had been spotted a week before. This of course led to an attack. It was during this attack that Adam was truly tested by D’Ken, it was when Adam unknowingly met his birth father, the pirate Corsair. He and other crew members fended off the Starjammers and kept them from overtaking the ship and killing the Majestor, but not without the loss of Adam’s left eye by the blade of Corsair.

After given a prosthetic eye and his injury was tended to, Adam met with the Majestor again, only to hear life changing news. D’ken told him his true origin of how Corsair was his father, and that it was Corsair that caused his mother’s death, even the name that his birth parents were supposedly going to name him, Gabriel. The news, felt like it shattered Adam’s heart and after the majestor left him with the news, he lost it. New powers manifested from his old ones and he destroyed the room he was in with heated concussive blasts from his hands and eyes. He even made his way through the building down to the target practice room which he nearly destroyed as well. Thankfully Lilandra came to him and tried to calm the young man down, which helped stop him from causing further damage to the building, but there was still a war of identities in his mind.

Months would pass on and Adam, or Gabriel as he preferred to be called by a specific few, would continue to rise through the ranks of the Imperial Guard of the Shi’ar. He became the partner to his mentor and first father figure, Davan Shakari, better known as Erik the Red. Gabriel also seemed to have caught the attention of the Majestor’s sister Cal’syee. One night after he returned to Madripoor after a job in Hong Kong, Gabriel came to his room to find Cal’syee waiting for him, and she then seduced the young man just to help secure a position of power.

Gabriel was finally starting to come to terms with his identity as time went on. He became a potent member of the Imperial Guard, those loyal to the Shi’ar saw him and other members of the Guard as almost super hero type figures that protected them from the villainous figures that Shi’ar propaganda had made the Starjammers to be.

PURIFIERS (2011)
Gabriel was even enjoying the attention and wanted to live up to it, which is what he believed he was doing as a member of the guard who killed anyone the Majestor deemed an enemy. Though when he turned 18 in June 2011, D’Ken made an announcement to those of the Neramani household, Gabriel was to become D’Ken’s heir as Majestor.

Despite the news, Gabriel was still a member of the Guard and was given an assignment of procuring the new vessel D’Ken had built by friends in China that would become the new lead vessel in the Shi’ar Naval forces. Gabriel was hesitant about following the Majestor’s orders however, knowing the increased activity from the Starjammers as well as a recent failure by other Shi’ar forces in completing a job. He was worried about D’Ken’s mental health as well as he knew the Majestor personally and had been watching D’Ken’s slide into madness for some time. Despite his feelings, he remained a loyal subject and left with Davan to retrieve the new naval ship.

Gabriel returned to Madripoor at the helm of the new ship dubbed the Warbird, only to find out that D’Ken died during a battle between the Starjammers and Corsair’s son Scott Summers and his allies. Davan then spoke to Gabriel, “The Majestor is dead, long live the Majestor”, and then bowed to the new ruler of the Shi’ar.

Not long after the start of his reign and investigating the events that lead to the death of D’Ken, Gabriel had come to a decision and a perceived betrayal by Lilandra, however his own personal feelings for D’Ken’s half sister left him to try and figure out a loop hole or some alternative method of dealing with the situation. His solution was to exile her, something he figured would be a benefit for her, and despite his privileged treatment, something he himself wish could get away from the city of Madripoor, but now stuck with the duty of maintaining the country and the Shi’ar it was no longer an option. With Lilandra exiled, it left him alone with the only remaining Neramani, Cal’syee, the woman that became his first and only lover. He feared a civil war could start with those who did not support his rule, and knew Cal’syee had sway over a decent portion of many. So he proposed to her, and she accepted. Together he believed they could unite the Shi’ar and Madripoor and go beyond just being a criminal syndicate and become more of a government entity.

SKRULLS (2012)
Early on in 2012, Gabriel and Cal’syee were married, it was set up as a large event, which was not something he was entirely in favor for, but the bride got what she wanted. This also ended up being the first time since D’Ken’s death Vulcan had the opportunity to see Corsair, his own father. Corsair and the Starjammers decided to give the newlyweds a present by launching an attack on several ships in the harbor of Madripoor. Vulcan himself tried to halt the attack but by the time he got close enough to fire his own blasts at the Starjammer and it’s crew they were gone.

Later in the year the shapeshifting aliens known as the Skrulls began to reveal themselves and ready an attack on the island nation. Shi’ar agents had been infiltrated and positions within the organization had been taken by the green menace. Not even a year of his own rule and Madripoor was under attack, leaving the new ruler frustrated and ready to lash out and make an example of these aliens. A ship had appeared over the harbor of Madripoor, and through the combined efforts of the Imperial Guard and the Majestor, it was sent to a watery death as it crashed and burned into the sea. However there were still Skrulls remaining and they were sought out and hunted, the Majestor publically executed them, even as they reverted into unbeknowingly to him, their natural state of being the Nuwali. He would have none undermine him. After the infestation was dealt with and his power secure, Gabriel had a team began to salvage and dismantle what remained of the alien ship and had parts either sold or researched to advance the place of Madripoor and its military forces.

CURRENT HISTORY (Illuminati/Phoenix SiteWide 2013 to current time)
Late 2012, Vulcan and others united under Emperor Victor Von Doom, whom had assembled a rather wide variety of individuals from rulers to the crazed to form the Illuminati. It was at this meeting that Gabriel realized perhaps myths and legends had some foundation as the M’Krann Crystal from stories he heard as a child, things D’Ken was obsessed with, that many Majestors before had been obsessed with the possibility of obtaining. Some rock that supposedly was filled with great power. However despite having suspicions whether on whether a little book D’Ken had held for years that was now left in his care before sharing some of the knowledge with the Illuminati, at least what he believed to be true and not a work of fiction.

He made an attack on Pyongyang, North Korea, wanting to test the X-Men and other heroes himself, though he took it as another opportunity to get his hands on the secretive weapons codes and information the North Korean government, and his agent killing the then ruler of North Korea in the process. During this, Vulcan, himself, alongside his longtime friend and rival, Gladiator, and other Shi’ar forces. The fight however was meant to be a distraction for his own agents to gather the weapon codes and eliminate former rivals, after the success, Vulcan and the Shi’ar were teleported out of Pyongyang, back to the safety of Madripoor, thoroughly satisfied in the success of the plan.

Eventually using a false man, posing as their father, he lured his brother Alex into a trap. With Havok secured for the time, Gabriel tried to get information like the location of X-Factor out of him, showing some semblance of compassion and subconscious desire for a new life, this “torture” initially started as a psychic illusion to try and ease the information from Alex, though this failed the Majestor, he left his brother to the hands of Gladiator to get answers. During Havoc’s torture, Vulcan contacted Emma Frost to give his brother to the Hand, to become just like his eldest brother Cyclops who had become their pawn. This ended up not going as expected, though the fault fell to Frost rather than himself.

Over time the Majestor had been building and setting up his plans to expand his power, not necessarily his political power over the world, but his literal power. Utilizing the bombs and warheads stolen from the Korean government, he plotted to detonate various areas that would then set off a volcanic eruptions in many major cities across the world that did not previously have any volcanic activity. These detonations and resulting forming volcanoes created massive earthquakes in cities like New York City, London, Paris, to name a few. To do this he had enlisted the aid of several geokinetic mutants that had records that he claimed to offer freedom, money, power, anything they wanted… though they all met the same fate as he detonated the bombs at the time, catching them all in the explosion or resulting volcanic activity. He himself was in New York, and televised the events there, letting the world know who he was, and then inviting the heroes themselves to come challenge him. It was arrogant, but he was on a high of power from the newly forming volcanoes and wanted to test his new. He was met by a team of X-Men and he fought them for a time, but despite having a power boost at a volcano itself, the numbers game was getting to him. He decided to leave the place, in a tactical retreat via a teleporter mutant under his employ.

Not long after the world was lit with new fire, it was soon covered in darkness and soon it would meet a worse fate as the plans of the Illuminati finally began to meet their conclusion and the M’Kraan crystal opened and bestowed the gift of the Phoenix force upon him and select other members of the Illuminati and Gabriel Summers was reborn as a demigod. All scars he ever suffered, all wounds he endured, even the eye he had lost were restored leaving his physical body beyond what it was before. There was so much power and it overwhelmed him. He thought he controlled it but much like his own mutation he was able to use it, but he did not know how to control the great power that was within him. And in the same flash his mind was open to what he now was with the Phoenix, worlds, and dimensions he never dreamed existed but new possibilities he thought were foolish once before. Then the realization of what this world he grew up in was, the corruption everywhere, the vile nature at the core of every sentient being. It consumed him and he let himself become a monster to end it all so there could be a chance of rebirth for the world, a new start. Then he went back home to Madripoor to begin his new goal.

Upon returning to Madripoor with new psychic powers that he began testing on the entire city, it just helped him reinforce the new ideals that had been twisted in his mind. However, he was still human inside, he still cared about a few people. Not his own wife, no she would be dealt with. However, there were two, two that had been by his side, two he would give the option to run for some time. One was in Madripoor the other he would deal with later. He called Kallark, his brother in arms, the Gladiator of the Shi’ar. Gabriel gave his old friend the option to leave Madripoor before he did what he felt he needed to. Gladiator did not listen, and then like so many times before the two began to fight, only this time it was not a sparring match, this time Gladiator would not have the upper hand. The Phoenix powered Vulcan turned Kallark’s own attack against him and even charged it with his own natural energy and the cosmic fire of the Phoenix. A burning globe of fire appeared in Vulcan’s hand, roughly the size of a automobile, and in trying to remove himself of his own humanity he unleashed the attack on Kallark, and then Madripoor. His own wife he knew was caught in the explosion as well, along with several other Shi’ar officials that he knew would be the worst of the worst to guarantee the end of the Shi’ar and the corruption of Madripoor if not dismay the entire city, he had coerced them to be there with his newfound telepathy earlier even before his fight with Gladiator. Though he overestimated the level of destruction he would leave behind fire had rained down upon Madripoor before its former ruler left the city to burn.

Then he moved to the harbor and the sea and he began to raise his fleet of undead soldiers and naval vessels. He would not rule the living but rule fire and death itself. He even included D’Ken in those he raised only to finally get some semblance of revenge on the one he found out later ruined his life, he wanted D’Ken to watch everything he dreamed of owning burn to the ground by the monster he raised. The flaming undead legion began to sail with the Phoenix fueled ruler flew overhead watching the destruction he unleashed upon navy after navy that came to stop him. None did, and more just joined him as they fell. The raid continued until he reached the western coast of the United States.

There he met the heroes, including his brother, Havok, that believed they could stop him. What caught him by surprise was Lilandra being amongst them. Easily dealing with the heroes, Vulcan allowed himself a moment to give Lilandra the same option he gave Kallark, run. Just like the fallen Gladiator, she refused him. His undead fleet continued to fight many of the heroes while the supposed demigod dealt with others. It wasn't until a mysterious ship appeared, and a man who was supposed to be dead with it. His father, Corsair and the Starjammers lived and they had a stolen weapon almost specifically designed to combat Vulcan and his powers. Even in his Phoenix fueled state he felt the pain of the cryogenic blasts of the Atlantean weapon. Losing an arm momentarily before he restored it. He couldn't waste his time playing around anymore, especially as Lilandra was in his head believing he could deal with all of them at once even in their specialties. He was Vulcan, his pride especially now would not let him back down, but it would let him cut the games and just end it all. The undead army’s energy was pulled back to the source as Vulcan gathered all of his energy and in his hand, he held the power of a small sun, a destructive force that could and would wipe out a large chunk of the North American continent. He threw the cosmic fire bomb at the heroes, and in a last moment of cohesion together, the heroes absorbed the energy and sent it all back at him. He was already drained from the attack in the first place but began holding the combined blasts at bay. It was his mind that was faltering though. Lilandra had been talking to him like she did so many years ago, she knew him and who he really was under every mask, through the anger, through the Phoenix, she knew him and she talked to him in a way only she could. It was then for a moment his anger stopped, and after so many years of letting it control him, letting the pain and injustice of his life not burn in his mind keeping him fueled, he let himself realize what he became and he hated himself for it. He was too tired to fight though on his own, and he knew he had to let go of the Phoenix to not let it be more fire to fuel him down the destructive path he walked for so long. His mind connected with Lilandra one last time, and he said goodbye to her, and the Phoenix force. With the last bit of telepathic strength, he had he forced her out of his mind and physically saw what he was barely holding at bay, the raw destructive force he was going to unleash on the world. For the first time, he felt he was burning, and the energy of the Phoenix left him and moved onto its next host. With it gone, he couldn't hold it back and instead tried to make peace with the end, believing he did at least one thing right in his life.

Then he fell. His mind had overloaded and cognitive thought shut down. His body covered in ash, his mutation the only thing that kept everything intact. The world was black for him. Adam Neramani had died, Gabriel Summers was all that was left, and his world was just the empty void of his mind as he fell into a comatose state. His smoldering body fell from the great heights, a dark body of water filled with the flaming wreckages of various vessels that he had brought back from the depths, and fresher ones of the US Navy. Fate decided that he would not be impaled upon the metal of some fallen ship, instead he crashed into the water, and began to sink faster due to the sinking remnants. Then, his unconscious body was saved as his father jumped in after him and using parental strength, pulled the youngest son above water before being helped onto the Starjammer.

Corsair without asking his crew brought his youngest son aboard the new Starjammer, and that is where he has laid since the end of September 2013. His mind trying to recover from the overexertion as well as a subconscious last moment of putting himself into the state with the fleeting power of the Phoenix. Slowly recovering as his body began to atrophy, unaware of the world and happenings around him. It was the first moment of peace he had ever known in 22, now over 23 years of his life.

Until his eyes opened and he realized he had no idea where he was.

SAMPLE RP POST:

Joint Post Between Gabriel Summers and Corsair

Beep... Beep... Beep...

The rhythmic sound of medical machines echoed from the dark room in which there was also a bed, and in that bed was a young man. His hair had gotten longer over the years he had been asleep, there was stubble across his cheeks and chin. The young man had been taken care of for quite some time. His hair was a shade of brown, though it looked nearly black in the lighting, swept across to one side of his face. His skin lost what was once a sailor’s tan from years of being on the sea and oceans ever since he was a child, now he looked pale, even sickly as his cheeks and body thinned out from the years of being bed ridden. This man looked almost like a ghost of his former self. However, he was no ghost.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The sound grew more rapid from the machines that monitored his vitals and brainwaves. A whirring noise followed as a security camera twitched towards focusing on the young man, except it had eyes, and six legs that skittered to get a new view.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The young man’s eyes moved behind his eyelids, fingers began to twitch faintly above the sheets. Inaudible groaning coming from a dry throat as his lips began to part. He could hear the faint echo of the beeping growing louder and louder.

The insectoid automaton sent an alert to one of the other machines of similar build. One that was one of the halls. Quicker than its normal hovering, the fly like robot flew towards the nearest person it could find. “Captain, the patient is showing signs of early consciousness.”

The heart rate beat faster, as the young man’s eyes shot open and they scanned the room. His body instinctively trying to sit up, but could not manage. It hurt when he tried. He attempted to move his arms but could only feel incredibly weak muscles try to move but no result. His pupils dilated trying to see in the dark room, the only light coming from the machines, he could see a faint lens glare from the eyes of the robot. He felt something in his mind, fear. He tried to make his mouth work, and just soft grunts came out at first before he finally choked out a very hush, coarse.

“Hello?” Gabriel Summers was able to manage, his first words in over two years.

The machine near the captain of the Atlantean submarine halted. “Correction, patient has become conscious.”

After a few minutes, the lights in the room bloomed up slightly, soft and slightly amber colored so as not to blind him, but bright enough that he could see someone entering the room. A man who paused at the door for a moment, before he crossed to the bed. "Gabriel..." he whispered.

Corsair sat down in the chair beside the bed, where he had spent many long hours over the last two years, "Don't try to sit up," he told the young man, before looking up at the ceiling of the room, "'Jammer, adjust the bed, please?"

The bed, really part of the strange adaptoid that was the bulk of this hybrid craft, tilted upwards so that Gabriel was sitting up, at a comfortable angle.

Corsair smiled, "That's better."

Minutes alone in the dark, frightened and confused. His mind flashing to what he last remembered. Lilandra, the blast, the Phoenix, Alex, his dad, then nothing. He began to question if somehow he was in some variation of the underworld where souls are brought to heal before getting mercilessly tortured. He dismissed that idea quickly but still unsure of what happened. He felt cold, something was wrong and something was missing. Gabriel could not remember feeling like this before, it was incredibly off putting.

Then lights began to slowly turn on in a shade almost reflective of his own glow of energy, though a little more on the orange spectrum compared to his yellowish-gold. He blinked his eyes several time as they became adjusted, and then he just stared at the man that entered through the doorway. Gabriel’s mouth just fell open slightly as his eyes fixated on Corsair, his father, his enemy. Though he wasn’t sure if that last title was true anymore. He didn’t know what was. The former lord of the Shi’ar did not speak yet, it could be a trick, old paranoia swimming through his waking mind.

The moment the command was given and his bed began to adjust him to a more comfortable angle. He finally moved his eyes, still wide as a frightened animal, scanning everything in the new light. He saw the machines hooked up to him, he saw a metallic bracelet on the other wrist. Was it possibly a null cuff? It was far smaller and streamlined than what he remembered the Shi’ar using. His eyes returned to Corsair, a sky blue color even in the amber lighting. Gabriel’s mouth opening and closing, he swallowed before speaking. “What...happened?” He said weakly. “Why am I here?”

"You've been asleep for a long time, son," Corsair said, quietly, "We've been watching out for you, making sure you were cared for." He reached out, pulling the blankets up around Gabriel a little more securely, since they'd slid down when the bed tilted. "Your brothers gave me a null cuff to protect you while you slept, so you'll won't be able to access your powers for a while. Don't ask me how it works, I have no idea. But it'll only be temporary until you get your strength back."

He settled back in the chair but stayed leaning forward, hands falling to clasp between his knees, awkward and uncomfortable, watching this broken young man who was both the symbol of his greatest failure, and of his greatest triumphs. "It'll probably be awhile before you can eat, but... do you want some water or something. I can ask Sikorsky if we can give you some milk... it's powder though so probably not what you're used to. We might have some sugar I can put in it."

Asleep. He had been asleep for a long time. His brothers were the supply of the null cuff, and it did not sound like his father knew how to take it off even if he wanted to. It felt so wrong. Gabriel had never been without his powers once in his entire life. He tried to lift his arm even as the blankets were put back on him as they fell off partially. All there was a few shakes and twitches before he gave up for the moment. His dry throat however pleaded at the mention of water. “Water.” He said simply, the dryness of his voice evident. Gabriel licked his lips for a moment. “How...how long?” He tried to remember more of what happened in his last moments awake, the last choice he made, and then every choice he made before that. Then a flurry of emotions hit him like a truck.

Blue eyes began to water as he just looked down. That fight, Lilandra helping him, the Phoenix, Madripoor...Kal. His body started to shiver. For a moment it was like Corsair wasn’t there. “Oh gods...what did I do?” His voice cracked, though the volume was the loudest it had been since he woke moments ago. Tears came down his eyes and his body shivered more.

Gabriel asked for water, so Corsair went to the door, where Sikorsky's FLY apparatus was waiting, After talking quietly for a moment, too quietly for Gabriel to hear, he returned with a packet of water with a bendy straw in it. "Sip it slowly," Chris instructed his son, holding to where he could take the straw in his lips. "It has some electrolytes in it, some vitamin stuff so it will help, but you can't gulp it or it will make you sick."

He didn't comment on the tears or the shivering, knowing that Gabriel wouldn't want to be seen as weak. "It's been about two years, son... you've been asleep for two years, but we've been taking care of you. You're safe. I promise."

Gabriel tried to catch his breath from the sobbing, taking a few moment, and blinking away the tears. He made himself take a sip of the water, trying to listen to the advice but the liquid felt so good. Gabriel removed his lips from the water pouch. Able to just give a very slight nod of his head, though struggled to return his head to the previous position.

“Two years…” Gabriel repeated in disbelief. Then he processed things more, he had been under the care of the Starjammers, Corsair, his father for two years. He wasn’t dead, in fact he was certain he was likely in better condition than if he had been returned to Madripoor, whatever was left of Madripoor. He licked his lips again, and fought against his still shivering body. “Th-thank you…” He muttered softly, his voice sounding more like himself now that he no longer was parched.

“I’ve...never been nulled before, I was…” He was going to say born, but he wasn’t really sure if what happened was truly a birth. “I’ve always had my powers… It’s...so cold without them.”

"I'll get you a robe, or some extra blankets or something," Chris said, "I'm sure we'll have something to help you be comfortable. We're currently in the Banda Sea near the coast of Indonesia, so once you're feeling a little stronger, maybe we can surface and you can get some sun on the deck. Sound ok?"

“I’ve been before...sure.” Gabriel responded, agreeing to his father’s offer to go to the surface at some point. The sun sounded nice, as did extra clothing or something. He tried to will himself to stop shivering, but it just did not happen. Little about his body seemed to want to listen to him. He felt so powerless, even beyond just not having his powers.

“Alex...Scott, and Lilandra…” The young man spoke three names. “They all made it out of the Phoenix, right?” He asked his father, genuinely sounding like he was hoping to hear that they were all safe. “Do you know how they are now?”

"They're alive," Corsair said, "Everyone is fine. Things get a little complicated, yeah, but everyone is fine. In fact, Lilandra has been in contact with us several times, inquiring about you." He smiled, gently at the boy, "I'll let your brothers know you're all right." He patted the mattress, softly, "Rest now, Gabriel. Sikorsky will come in here and make sure you're ok. You've been in a coma for a long time, and it's going to be hard for you to get back to where you need to be. But we're here for you and we're going to help you, ok? You need to trust me."

Gabriel tried to give a nod of acknowledgement again after hearing those he asked about. Lilandra even remained in contact with his father to make sure he was doing alright. His eyes drifted to Corsair’s hand on the bed and the bed itself. “Okay.” He responded simply to the request for him to rest, it almost felt strange for someone who has been more or less asleep for years to tell them to rest more, but truth be told even just the little conversation and movement had made him feel tired. Then it came to the question of trust, it was such a foreign thing in his life. Few he ever even remotely trusted, it was the nature of the Shi’ar, the closest to him he could trust were Kallark and Lilandra, and look what he did to them. “Cors…” He started but stopped himself. “Father...we are...were Shi’ar.” He knew some of his father’s history, he knew that he once worked for D’Ken what was probably a lifetime ago, technically it was before his own lifetime. But the statement was meant for a reason, Shi’ar did not trust anyone. “I’ll… try.” Gabriel finally answered as his jaw shook slightly from the colder body temperature than what he had lived with.

"No, Gabriel," Corsair said, "We're Summerses. We're family. That's more important." He stood up and said, "I'll find you something to keep you warm." He patted his arm, lightly. "Rest now, son."

He went to the door, and then paused, Turning back to the boy, he said, "I wasn't a good father, not to any of you boys, even before... all of this happened... I'm going to be better. We're going to be better. I promise you, Gabriel. This is a new start for both of us."

A Summers, they were Summerses, he was a Summers. He was Gabriel Summers. The young man thought to himself, even remembering what he told Lilandra. Adam Neramani was dead, D’Ken’s son died two years ago, he did something then that a Neramani never would have done before, which meant he wasn’t one anymore. He was a Summers. He had family. For the first time in his life he had a real family. A real father, brothers, he was even an uncle. It almost felt like it wasn’t real for a moment when he thought about it.

The Phoenix Force was a being of death and fire, but also one of rebirth. The phoenix itself in mythology would die, and be reborn. Was that why it came to him over someone like Namor on that day? Not to unleash fire and cause death, but to give him a chance he never had before? He did not deserve a second chance after the life he lived. He looked back at the middle aged man and simply thought, but he did.

“In two years and five minutes...you’ve done more for me than D’Ken ever had.” Gabriel responded. “You’re the best father I’ve had.” Though there really wasn’t that great of a competition between the two, D’ken was a horrible and twisted person. Even so, Gabriel meant what he said. He took a deep inhale before exhaling.

“I’ll...try my best too.”

Corsair smiled and said, "That's all either of us can ask for."

There's some paragraphs that have some spacing issues, which I'd like fixed but that's cosmetic rather than content based so I'm going to give you your first stamp on the proviso you fix that.
