Stepping Discs/ Armor Manifestation/ Magical Weirdness
May 18th 22:00 House of Yes, Brooklyn New York There were, besides Nuya, two great loves in Illyana’s life. In order they consisted of Jessica Vale; her best friend and confidant, the only person Yana believed truly bothered to understand her; and freedom: best expressed, in her opinion, in losing one’s mind in the festivities of a harecore party style club. A distant love, really more of a like, was including new friends in her latest ideas. So tonight was all about blending all three of those ideas together and making something, well, magical happen. Even more so this was a chance to show off a new Illyana, a better one. The Russian girl had bought tickets, had bought dresses for her and Jessica and Laynia. This was to a night to end all nights and for once, just this once, they would try doing it by the book. No drugs so far either, not even any pre-drinking, Yana was proud of herself. She was challenging herself to stay drug free all night, though she would be drinking, most likely heavily. So here they stood, the very next group in line after the spellweaver had used her words and looks and manner to move them steadily through the mass of people. She still hated lines, but if Jess wanted her to be “normal”, “normal” was what she’d be. The House of Yes was, in Illyana’s mind, the best possible place in New York. Nearly anything went there and mutants, magicians, metas, and perhaps aliens mixed into the general weirdness and heavy insanity that made the world -walker at home in an instant. “All right my friends, if you can trust me and not wander too far, I promise you that this will be a night that will not easily forgotten. Make the boys, or girls, buy you the drinks, but always get them yourself. Do not drink anything after you put it down, never go to the bathroom by yourself. Oh and if you get pushed to the stage, wave so I can join you.” Magik had no idea what Laynia knew or didn’t know about clubs and those were the only rules she could think of. The gatekeeper turned to her and the petite girl smiled widely at him. He grinned just as wide and they exchanged a few words in French before he all but tore the velvet rope off for her. “Oh yes my friends, welcome to my world.” Even as she said this a female looking man dressed as a cat was making his way to her and rubbing up against her like they were old lovers. The music filled her in an instant and Illyana was home. |

Darkforce Manipulation
Laynia was all kinds of uncomfortable. She had somehow found herself dragged to Illyana's place and practically pushed into a dress that the younger woman had somehow come into the possession of. Though she had to admit, it was impressive that she got the measurements... almost right. It was tighter across the bust and her hips than she would have gone for normally, which meant she spent a great deal of time plucking at the fabric, trying to make it fit just a little better. It proved to be a losing battle unfortunately, so by the time they reached the front of the line she had all but given up on the pursuit of making the dress less awkward to wear. She'd been to clubs before of course, mostly in Paris, but it wasn't something she'd ever really made a habit of. Neither had she seen much of a point to the places, a place full of noise, people and drinking... She could just as easily have the best part of that at home, doing something she actually found productive. But she was here, she was dressed for an outing, so she would at least see this through enough to determine once again if this was something she would consider doing again. At a moment's notice she could be gone from here, and be a decent distance home. So she would give it a try, if for no better reason than she could leave at any time. She listened to the rules that Illyana lay down, which didn't totally make sense to her, but she figured the young woman would be the one to listen to... This was more her domain than Laynia's, so she would at least give some credence to what the sorceress said. As they entered however, some kind of animal human hybrid approached and began rubbing all over Illyana, and Laynia couldn't contain the look of confusion on her face. Was this how people greeted in this place? She had also forgotten one thing... How loud these places could be. She winced slightly at the loud booming music, unconsciously reaching for but not touching the Darkforce. It was comforting in a strange way to have it close by, and so allowed her to relax just a little bit. "What would you suggest be done first Illyana?" she asked, having to lean in and raise her voice to be heard over the music. "I cannot say I know what is done in these places" |

Precognition
For a while, now, Jessica had been hopeful to visit the New York nightlife location, House of Yes, but could never quite find the time. The young woman had always been too busy with work and various projects to lend much time to extracurricular activities. And even when she wasn’t, she’d claim that it was never the right time to go explore. She was skeptical as a young bar hopper; she found that she liked going to new clubs well enough but could easily dismiss the vast majority of them as criminally overhyped. Perhaps what had stayed her away from this particular location for so long was the worry of having her hopes dashed by the reality being so much less than her curiosity an imagination had come to form of it. Jessica’s ulterior motives were what brought her to the venue that night. Skepticism aside, if the House of Yes was anything like it was hyped up to be, it was overflowing with entertainers of all sorts. Jessica needed entertainers, inspiration, wonder. She’d enthused a project which instantly became bigger than her and now needed help with the execution. Given that Illyana had seen thing s of all sorts: magic, mutational, and just plain weird, she trusted the blonde’s own awe to be promising. Jess needed something eye-opening, dancers that were unique and bold to help demonstrate the beauty and diversity of mutantkind. Would she spy a twirling mutant, shimmering in her own radiance? A pyrokinetic who take s fire breathing to unheard of levels? Jessica clutched her handbag as the three approached the club. The line was long but the exterior seemed oddly inviting, promising that something behind those brick walls was an art she’d never witnessed. Her fingertips traced her hairline, making sure that not a single lock was where she didn’t want it to be, then down the front of her green blouse and her black shorts to be sur every button was carefully in place. She was… particular. This wasn’t just her trying to win a free drink but, rather, potential for her to network with new talent. She felt like she was entering a job interview. It was a scary prospect that in the next few hours she might be setting the frame of something magnificent. Jessica couldn’t help but lift her brow as Illyana laid down the rules of their excursion. She was saying all the right things and that... well would surprised be the right word? Some times it was hard to tell who was rubbing of on who but she was impressed by Illyana’s responsible advice on watching their drinks. Then again, it was a pretty survival based bar tactic, even if one was able to open interdimensional portals so maybe that sort of rule-abiding merely came natural to the blonde. “Mmm. So I’m actually not drinking tonight. I have to be up by 6 to get in a morning workout and meditation,” Jess said with a mock grimace. She wasn’t that sorry though. Jess had been drinking less and less since her return. It certainly never helped with her powers anyhow and, though she might occasionally indulge, she considered herself far too much of a ‘yes’ girl when under the influence. Still… Jessica had initially planned on abstaining when Ilyana first asked her to go out, thinking she’d have to keep an eye out on her. Considering that maybe the roles would be reversed for once, she found it almost tempting. “Maybe one or two.” Jessica corrected, knowing a small protest was on it’s way, “Ok, ok, yes. I’ll have a few.” Illyana quickly made friends with a man dressed as a cat—Jessica wasn’t into the place yet—and Jess stepped around them to survey what was in their view. At least the music wasn’t bad. She searched for where the dancers were, making a mental note to keep her eyes there. “If Yana favors this place, I’d guess you can do just whatever you please,” Jess smirked at Laynia. Jess didn’t really know the other blonde but she warmed to strangers fast. “Then again, I don’t know much about this place myself. Yana? Show us something wicked.” |

Stepping Discs/ Armor Manifestation/ Magical Weirdness
Jees of course started up with her fireless non drinking speech. Illyana smiled at the familiar ever broken oath. Jess was not quite as much part of the party scene as the Russian, however the precog knew how to loosen up and enjoy herself. Liquid fire in the belly did wonders and changed people. This was the major reason Yana liked to drink, it let her connect to others, to forget what she held at bay, what she ran from. The distortions of drink and drugs made her focus on the people and world around her instead of other places and events. Unlike most who got high to escape, the blonde did it to come back.As a remix of Chained to the Rhythm started up Magik kissed the cat person on both cheeks and turned to her best friend and her new co-worker in turn. “Jess, you do as you wish, that is all I ask. Drink, indulge, dance, lose yourself, or do not. That is all your call and you should not bend or break due to my influence. After all I am the one trying to behave tonight. Laynia,There is no set thing to ‘do’ or order to do it in. This is not a task or a mission or an assignment, it is a chance to let down your walls and be someone you like better for a small time.” As she talked a woman of just under 7 foot tall, skinny as a rail, and wearing what appeared to be a dress made of plastic wrap and fish scales appeared out of the crowd and spun Illyana into a deep and passionate kiss. The petite blonde responded just as fiercely before whispering a few words of Russian in the tall lady’s ear. A packet of blue powder wa offered, declined, and the woman slipped back into the crowd and vanished. Smiling much more honestly now and not bothering to wipe the green lipstick from her lips, Illyana summoned several discs of flashing golden light and sent them up into the air, high above the partygoers where the strobed to the beat and occasionally rained glitter down. “Carantu wanted my assistance in making this place more interesting. This is step one, that was some drug that disables your sense of smell and makes you see smells as colors. I told her that I am behaving, she was a bit crushed.” Illyana let the music, now shifted to something deep bassy and sliding through languages like she slid through cities, fill her ears and began moving to it’s beat, moving around and between her friends while she thought. As ever around Jess, Yana felt her own sense of self slipping away. She wanted to please Jessica, to make her happy, to show her that life was not all training and pushing yourself. “Something wicked? Oh Preview, I would have thought you of all people knew better then to ask that of me. Let us start mild on account of our beautiful guest and work our way up, da?” Illyana gestured towards one of the smaller stages where a man and two women were summoning and juggling green fireballs between them to the beat. The man had burn marks all over his quite nude body, barely 5 foot body. The women looked precisely alike, even more so than identical twins and were heroin chic 6’7” brunettes. The man summoned the fire, each time leaving a tiny burn upon his flesh and the women shaped it into the spheres they all used When the bass inevitably dropped the fires glowed white for a few moments and burst like bombs. Behind them were a large group of early 20s club kids, all with different skin colors dancing in perfectly synced rhythm to the counterpoints of the beat. It had an effect on those who watched them that was deeply hypnotic. Their colors worked in sequence, luring you in and controlling your focus. Their movements, so precise and correct, yet flowing “backwards” to the music made reality feel unglued. |
