Brand new Season, Brand new Anime. Thought I'd create a discussion thread for all the anime airing this season instead of one for each. Source: Summer 2011 Anime Group - MyAnimeList Summer Anime List: Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! Blade Blood-C Dantalian no Shoka Double-J Ikoku Meiro no Croisée Inumarudashi Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: Kyun Kyun Tokimeki Paradise!! Kamisama Dolls Kamisama no Memochou Kayoe! Chuugaku Manyuu Hikenchou Mawaru Penguindrum Mayo Chiki! MonHun Nikki Girigiri Airuu Mura G Morita-san wa Mukuchi (TV) Natsume Yuujinchou San Nekogami Yaoyorozu No.6 Nurarihyon no Mago: Sennen Makyou Nyanpire The Animation R-15 Ro-Kyu-Bu! Sacred Seven The iDOLM@STER Usagi Drop Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love 1000% Yuru Yuri ------------- A lot of the anime this season are ones with short episodes (3-5mins) and a lot of them don't look very interesting. Personally I'm watching: Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: Yune is so cute. Kamisama Dolls: Reminds me a lot of Fractale. Meaning it's borderline good or terrible. Mayo Chiki!: Not something I thought I'd enjoy, but I'm enjoying its over-the-top nature. No. 6: Has decent potential, waiting to see what happens. Ro-Kyu-Bu!: Pretty enjoyable, nothing noteworthy though. Sacred Seven: Battle School Anime. Not impressed. Uta Prince somethingorother: LOOK AT ALL THE COLOURS!! Yuru Yuri: ...I like it. I also plan to watch: Kamisama no Memochou, Mawaru Penguindrum, Natsume Yuujinchou San (of course) and Usagi Drop. I was considering The iDOLM@STER but its sort of a sequel to a similar version so I'm giving it a miss. --------- Anybody else keeping up with a weekly series? Any recommendations? Or does anyone not give a damn? Edited by Winley, Aug 3 2011, 06:44 AM.

This season, I'm personally watching: Sacred Seven: At the moment? I wouldn't recommend this. It had a good first epi for me, but I've found since then that the relationship between Alma and Ruri to be really forced and annoying. Its like the writers want them to be into each other, but neither will say anything, and how they're going about it on-screen ain't that great and should be a lot more subtle. Animation is okay, and the action, when it gets to it is fine too, but its mainly the characters where this slumps. The main school cast are easily forgettable, and we're given no reason to care about them. The only memorable characters I find here are Alma, Ruri, Kagami and Knight. The filler episodes for the last two weeks haven't helped this case either. Usagi Drop: I watched the first 4 episodes a couple days ago and enjoyed them. I'm not usually into slice of life series like this, but its really well done and the art style is somewhat different to most other work you see these days, and I think its a good different. I like the relationship between Daikichi and Rin, and the sacrifices that Daikichi is seeing he needs to make to be there as a father figure while balancing work with taking care of her. Blade: I've seen the first 2 episodes but I haven't been back to it since. I'm a fan of a lot of Marvel's work, and have enjoyed the anime editions that I've seen (I believe... half of Iron Man and all of X-Men before this?). This was okay from what I saw, and probably will have to get back to it sometime. |

Only actually started Natsume San and Nyanpire, but there are a few that look really good this season. From what I've read, Usagi Drop makes me think Clannad, so I will watch that. And been thinking about R-15 and No. 6. Anyone have opinions on them? |

At the momentum~ >) Im watching: No.6 Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi and Nyanpire! Ive been reading the manga for the first two before I realized they were gonna be released as anime, which I was happy about and I highly recommend them!! No.6 has a real interesting plot that is moderately paced with some very interesting characters... especially Sion and Nezumi >) I only just finished with the 5th episode today and it's worth the wait to see the next ep every thursday. As for Kuro Usagi, Teito and Himea are introduced as a cute couple, though there doesn't seem to be an explanation if Teito really loves Himea or not... still I find the story pretty cool but then again, I always seem to prefer white-haired anime characters >DNyanpire is fun to watch inbetween anime, though it only has about 2mins for the episode itself after using the same opening to explain how Nyanpire came to be... The characters are really cute with their crazy life scenarios followed by a very~ catchy ending theme <3 Was planning to watch Sacred Seven, catch up with Nura and Natsume, Kamisama Dolls and Usagi Drop (I keep meaning to read it every time I see it in store, it sounds so cute! >//w//< ) |

I'm watching: Mayo Chiki No. 6 R-15 Blood-C Mayo Chiki has to be the funniest anime i've seen since HOTD No.6 is interesting, but it's starting to scream huge amounts of gay between Nezumi & Sion ![]() R-15 is very funny, it surprised me just how funny it is. |

No. 6 does have an interesting plot to it, and the characterization is pretty decent, although I agree with OP, there is a WHOLE lot of Gay. That aside, it's not as action-oriented as I thought it might have been/might become but its keeping my attention. Would I recommend it? At the current episode I'm on (4) I could see if someone said it was boring, but I wouldn't discount it until its finished airing. |

Out of that massive list, I'm currently watching Nyanpire and Natsume Yuujinchou San. (Yes, only two, but whatever. I have seven billion animes to catch up on anyway.) Nyanpire's pretty decent. Pretty much like Lauren said before me, it's a massively short-episode anime, only about two minutes if you cut out the opening bit about how Nyanpire came to be and the amazing ending. Though, just recently finishing Hetalia Axis Powers and Hetalia World Series, short episodes aren't much of a problem for me. It's a really cute anime to watch, especially if you adore cats and the concept of their wearing costumes. (And the concept of a REAL vampire. Heh heh.) Natsume Yuujinchou San . . . God, I love this anime. It pretty much picks up where Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou left off. However, despite that, this particular season seems to enjoy exploring deeper into Natsume's past, back in the days when he had no clue about the Book of Friends, more so than the other two seasons. I pretty much adore this anime to the point of not dreading Mondays as much. And that's saying something. Of course, some episodes of this anime, I would definitely not advise watching at night. Just saying. |

Hm, I saw the MAL page while talking with Lauren about it. I just hope they don't try to overdose it with Ho Yay-ness, cause it doesn't look like an anime that would do it subtly. =/ |

Whoever said Sacred seven was not good? I think it's the best of the selection. No offense meant though. And well it's clear that Ruri+Arma was just meant for the comic relief side of it. And somehow Arma's super/Lightstone form reminds me of Zero from the Rockman franchise. |
