Let's see if I can get an actual discussion going here . . . Probably not, but it's worth a shot. "Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from "The Ring", which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose "100% refreshing" personality earns him great admiration from Sawako. So when Kazehaya starts talking to her, maybe there is hope for the friendships Sawako has always longed for. Maybe...there is even a little hope for some romance in her future." - MyAnimeList.net, specifically MAL Rewrite Pretty much the synopsis. Now, before this gets easily condemned as "Bah. Typical shoujo.", it really really isn't. To be honest, whenever someone wants to watch a shoujo anime and needs recommendations, this is usually the first anime I suggest. For a very good reason. The first season was by far the best, since it mostly focused on Sawako making her first friends and actually having a social life. It didn't really emphasize much on romance until towards the end of the first season, which I commend this anime for in the first place. Season 2, released and aired earlier this year, wasn't as good as the first one as far as Sawako's developing character was concerned. It seemed to want to focus on making Sawako's life a living hell above all else, which is pretty much the antithesis of the first season, until about episode 9. In that regard, I detested the second season, but everything else, I pretty much liked. DISCUSS. Preferably with Joe not present. That guy ruins everything. Those who've seen this know what I mean . . . |

The second season annoyed me because of that exact reason. Every episode between 3 and 9 seemed to be misunderstanding after misunderstanding after misunderstanding. With lots of tears and crying. But those final 3 episodes were so incredible it made up for the entire season. I think I summed Kimi ni Todoke up with a comment I made a while ago: 37 episodes, nothing happened, but that ending made it completely worth it. |

I know, right? =/ What makes that even worse was that they had the nerve to put this guy - Kent - in, who just goes about and makes everything worse for Sawako and Kazehaya. It was just so irritating. And Pin wasn't exactly helping things either . . . "You should give up on Kuronuma." "AW SHUT UP PIN. -_-" I don't know what those writers were on when they wrote the second season, but I certainly wished they got off of it sooner than episode 9. Not to mention I kinda have a gripe with the animation team. Sometimes, the moment would be all serious or whatever, and they made Sawako into this chibi version and stuff, which is really inappropriate. :/ Cute, but totally inappropriate. In a way, I agree with that statement, Winlay. But, you can't exactly say nothing happened, if you're talking about Kimi Ni Todoke generally. A LOT happened, especially since the series was pretty much focused on Sawako at first. She grew from this anti-social and timid girl to one with more confidence in herself and what she believes in. That's probably the number one reason why I like this anime in the first place: Just for that character development. But, if you're talking about the romance front . . . Amen to that. ._. |

Winlay's just saying that 'cause he's a guy. Kimi ni Todoke IS a shoujo, after all. I mean, it's blatantly obvious from when the first guy character even shows up. Almost all the guys are completely effing clueless to what's going on. *COUGH*JOETHATLITTLENOGOODSONOFA-*Cough* /shot In otherwords, the reverse of YGO. Really like how you ignored my comment after that, Rena. P: Let me put it this way. Interested in a shoujo anime with well-thought out character development from the beginning to the end of the series over a span of two seasons? Then, if you haven't seen Kimi Ni Todoke, you haven't lived. Interested in a shoujo anime that'll actually please you every second of every episode? Go look somewhere else. Though, good luck finding any anime that actually does that. Interested in a shoujo anime where everyone actually understands each other? If an anime liked this existed, it'd be the most boring anime ever. Interested in a shoujo anime that actually takes the romance aspect seriously? Kimi ni Todoke. All the way. Interested in a shoujo anime that actually takes the romance aspect seriously and after a couple of episodes of hints, make it canon? Go look somewhere else. Interested in a shoujo anime that shows a realistic approach to romance? Kimi Ni Todoke And finally, interested in a shoujo anime that teaches MASSIVE patience through misunderstandings, rumors, crushes, and shiz, and ties everything together at the end? Kimi ni Todoke. I think the main thing I'm trying to get across is that if you have no sense of patience whatsoever, stay away from this anime. Far far away. Even without the mindscrews that is the 1/4 of the second season, you'd be force to learn patience anyway. Good relationships don't develop overnight. I'm just saying. |

Because I'm a guy? O.o I love Kimi ni Todoke, when I say nothing happened, I meant that in the romantic sense. Kimi ni Todoke is fantastic because of Sawako's character development and her interaction between Kazehaya and the rest of the cast, I agree with Ang' that you need a bit of patience to watch this, but if you can it's completely worth the watch. . So to answer your question Rena, I reckon you'd absolutely love it if you went in with a bit of patience. Sure there's little 'actual' romance, but its still a great watch. |

Dooooon't worry 'bout it~ ;D I totally agree. It's like they introduced it, then kinda forgot about it, then made things worse with it, then things go better, then worse, and then "OMGTHATISAMAZING". Bipolar, writers are bipolar. ._. At least they made up their minds in the end and didn't have the freakin' annoying cliffhanger like in the first season. But yeah. Like good ole Ayane Yano said, patience is the key. 'specially with this anime. At least this anime takes a realistic approach to relationships and dating though . . . |
