NAME: Cryptognosaurus legendarus

TYPE: Feathered dinosaur

STATUS: Vulnerable

POPULATION: unknown

LOCATION: Azores

BIOME: Coatoal (it lives in an island ecosystem after all)

APPEARENCE: Imagine a Rahonavis as big as a golden eagle, with black feathers.

BEHAVIOR: Like predatory birds, they are solitary or live in couples or small groups. They soar across the islands in search of prey, and make their nests in the cliffs and mountain tops.

HISTORY: Judging from the fossil record, the ancestors of the Endovelicus arrived to the Azores islands soonly after their formation in the Miocene/Pliocene periods, from Africa. Due to the absence of large endemic animals, its ancestors remained small until ground dwelling birds had become common in the islands. It also specialized on feeding on the native monk seals. When the portuguese arrived to the islands they also introduced pigs, gots and deer, which increased the number of availiable prey. Still, the number of these animals was never common.

CAPTIVITY: None is kept in captivity
Also known as JohnFaa, KenBrasai, and by another username you might associate with pterosaurs.
