"Arrowhead Squad reporting in, we've engaged the enemy fleet. Heavy flak incoming! Enemy Mobile Suits have mobilized!" On his tactical HUD Joshua watched the counters scroll across the battle map representing Arrowhead Squadron and other Orb and Federation Mobile Suit units. His viewscreens before him lent detail to Arrowhead's report - the lead element of Murasame fighter-transformable Mobile Suits were awash in wave after wave of tracer fire and orange plumes from explosive flak. In response the Murasame's banked, rolled, and dove to try and survive the incoming fire. All the while huge launch decks from the Federation carriers revealed their Mobile Suit charges, and soon Jegans and Daggers began to take to the air in response to the Orb attack.

Beam fire burned the air between the two forces as they exchanged fire - brilliant streams of scarlet and neon green light sizzled through steel and flesh alike before damaged Mobile Suits peeled away from the battle ablaze. As they did more Mobile Suits turned into the engagement while dozens of Federation Navy warships fired up at the Orb forces from below with their anti-air cannons. That prompted more banking and diving even as damaged Mobile Suits crashed into the azure waves below. But even as Orb Mobile Suits engaged the Federation's force - gaps began to open in their defensive line. Once those gaps opened Orb's reserve force, consisting mostly of Ootsukigata-type Murasame variants, opened fire with their long-range beam cannons.

Joshua was piloting one of those Ootsukigata's, and he along with other Squad leaders followed Arrowhead's lead in sounding off engagement reports before opening fire. As they did so coordinated barrages of high-intensity cannon fire lanced out to strike several enemy warships. The hulls of those warships burned brightly before beginning to boil away as their structural integrity failed. The stricken warships listed and began their rapid plunge to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Their assault a success, Joshua heeded the warning as one of the other reserve pilots shouted a new warning that enemy Mobile Suits had broken through the main force's line and was heading right for them. Not technically part of the Orb military, Joshua was free to act on his own accord.

And as his Ootsukigata transformed into a more aerodynamic form and began a rapid climb faster than any Federation Mobile Suit could achieve it was apparent that Joshua intended to exercise his freedom of action. He was soon joined by the reserve force's escort of Murasame Mobile Suits, but they trailed behind Joshua's machine at significantly lower altitudes as they burned straight for the incoming Federation force to cover the Ootsukigata forces as they scattered and maneuvered so they could regroup in a position not currently threatened. Checking his tactical HUD, Joshua transformed back into Mobile Suit mode once he was certain that he was far enough above the coming battlefield that his angle of attack wouldn't put his allies in danger. His HUD spat numbers at him that scrolled down with blinding speed and Joshua took a steadying breath as he took aim with his beam cannon.

Once both Orb and Federation pilots had opened fire Joshua took advantage of their distraction and swept his cross-hairs over the lead Feddie's wingman. A single neon green bolt of energy from his weapon quickly destroyed that Jet Dagger's winged backpack. Stripped of its sub-flight system at a critical moment that Federation pilot couldn't compensate in time to avoid the massed Murasame fire and several shots quickly exploded the Dagger. Both Orb and Federation formations broke as individual pairs of pilots broke into dogfights jockeying for position to tie up the defending Orb Murasame's while the majority of the incoming Feddie force ignored the Murasame interceptors and continued to engage the reserve force. Joshua grimaced a bit as he aimed next for the Feddie flight lead he'd passed over before. A second shot lanced through the Jet Dagger's cockpit and the pilotless machine soon spiraled to a fiery death in the waves below.

As the Federation Mobile Suits continued to descend atop the Ootsukigata's, Joshua broke altitude as well and fired as he fell. Many shots scored hits, and his attack caused a great deal of damage to their formation before they realized they were being engaged. As Joshua hoped his attack drew their attention, and the enemy formation wheeled on their flank to ascend and surround him. Smiling at his success in drawing their attention Joshua now switched back into Mobile Armor form with his Ootsukigata and accelerated down atop the Feddie welcoming committee. Joshua unloaded a massive barrage of everything he had into the Federation formation - more to make them break their formation than to score hits. That worked, and soon they cleared a path for him to fly through.

That's exactly what he did - and luckily none of their return fire found its mark. Gaining momentum from his rapid plunge, he hauled to the right on his flight sticks and performed a wide loop before ascending to try and outflank the Feddies. He got off a few shots at a Jet Windam before they got wise to his plan and began concentrating their fire on his approach vector. Seeing no safe way to punch through Joshua peeled away and transformed back into Mobile Suit form. Brandishing both cannon and his rifle Joshua cut loose, strafing return fire while giving back whatever he could. The fight was hairy, but once the Murasame's he had helped earlier finished their fights they came to return the favor and soon dozens of Feddie pilots were bailing from their wrecked machines.

He sighed in relief as that engagement came to a close without him sustaining any serious damage. Below many Federation ships were on fire from Orb weapons - but the Federation's numerical superiority was immense. Already another group of Federation Mobile Suits were assembling to assault the reserve force's gathering point. On the water's surface Orb and Federation warships maneuvered for better firing positions on their counterparts. Both sides were damaged and aflame, this battle had become a no-holds-barred contest to the death. And that was when something strange happened - as Joshua felt an uncomfortably familiar pressure on his mind. Shortly thereafter his HUD popped up with a warning that a HLV-class object had been detected in the air above Orb. It was heading for the capital, and Joshua didn't know why but that fact bugged him.

A lot.

The decent so far was fairly quiet. Well, not that quiet. Fayt could still hear the sounds of combat outside his heavily armored drop pod, but so far no one had taken a shot at him. Sure he was dropping well outside the combat zone, but surely he'd have to have been detected by now. He figured its only be a matter of time before the Orb forces would open fire on him.

Just then he could feel the pod's thrusters kick in, slowing his decent for a safe landing. Moments later, his pod shuddered before the sound of pressurized air alerted him to the pod's panels dropping away. Throwing his arm in front of his face, Fayt shielded his eyes to the sudden flood of light hitting his Gundam's optical cameras.

A lone, pure white Gundam stood alone in the middle of Orb's bunker complex. A thin, green visor flashing on, signifying the awakening of this machine of war. The light of the sun reflecting off the tip of what appeared to be a command antenna. At first glance, this mobile suit appeared to be ready to deal some damage. In fact, that's what the Full Armor Unicorn Gundam had been sent to do, but for now, the Gundam and its pilot had a more specific task, namely, assassination.

"Still don't know why I have to be the one to do this..." Fayt muttered to himself as he walked off the remains of his decent pod before coming to the realization that he wasn't being attacked on sight. Ducking for cover behind one of the nearby mobile suit hangars, expecting a small squad of them to come shuffling out of there to engage him. Nothing. "Strange. It's way too quiet around here. It's not like they didn't detect me, didn't they?" Fayt mused as he carefully creeped around to the other side of the hangar.

"Maybe an ambush?" He questioned himself as he darted over to the next set of mobile suit hangars.
