(OOC: This takes place several weeks before the lake Victoria Confrence) Yuri lay laying in his bunk, staring up at the ceiling. The vague smell of sea air wafted in occasionally, whenever someone opened the door to the barracks, letting in the sharp, salty air along with whoever was coming or going. Staring up at the ceiling, arms behind his head and gazing up into the cracks and bumps of the drywall, Yuri contemplated what had brought him here. He was only a few years out of the academy, and yet he was already the unit's top Mobile Suit pilot, and one of the best, by accounts, on the eastern seaboard of Australia. He had been posted here almost immediately after passing from the academy, and had grown to like the little town, relatively unimportant apart from it's vast seaport. A large amount of cargo and people passed through the port everyday, and as such it was well defended by an entire MS unit, twenty suits and their pilots all told. And while most assignments these days were routine perimeter patrols or breaking up the occasional fight, every once in a while something interesting happened. So it came as something of a surprise when the alarm klaxon went off, it's ear splitting wail sounding the alert for all pilots to stand ready. Jumping off his bunk and quickly stepping into his flight suit, Yuri gave a low whistle and Chika, his dog and the unit's unofficial mascot, jumped up from it's bed and followed her master out the door and into the sunlight at a jog.
