(Post written by Valhalla) It's been a year since the Civil Wars started and ended with the Earth Federation now the governing body of all nations.Much of the personel was re-intergrated into the new Earth Federation Forces One such person, was Staff Sergeant Jason Farechild. Who until recently had been on Earth serving the former Earth Commonwealth Military. Jason didn't really care as time had come to make their move into space. All around the Naval Weapons Station.things were moving, busy and somewhat of a clusterfuck. AS people scrambled to get everything ready for the push into space. Jason's own unit was busy moving all of their supplies, hardware and weapons onto one of the many hundreds of HLVs. One such unit was the upgraded Strike Packs for the Strike E Gundam, an existing unit overhauled to be brought up the Earth Federation modern standards. Those weapons were brought onto HLVs witht he intention of Jason and the rest of the former Spectres to rendezvou with their new assigned ship. The former Flagship of the Earth Commonwealth, the infamous Nahel Argama. Jason watched in glee when each of the new weapons and equipment was loaded onto the HLVs, as well a supply crates, anything the Earth Federation Forces would need to win this war. He was rather intrigued by all the both old and new mobile weapons.Everything from old GM Customs to the brand new Zeta Plus were loaded onto the heavy lift veichles, It wasn't long before the the scheduled time was soon to be on them, as all personel relegated to join up with their respective vessels. Once every single person that was assigned to go into space was on there respective unit. The time to launch was almost at hand. Jason was one of the most eager to make the push into space. He had zeto gee training, but his experience in space was still a little lacking. Even amonst a infamous pilot such as himself. As he boarded the cat walk onto the HLV where his newly assigned Gundam was stored, he looked bath gaze upon the Earth and all of it's beauty, potentially one last tim. A few seconds afterward, he boarded the HLV, with his Federation issued normal suit, already on, his helment and belonging firmly grasped in each of his his respective hands.. He quickly made his way to his seat and stowed away his belongings and latches the compartment shut. Jason doned his helmet, as the countdown begin.Strapping himself in just in time. Before the countdown had reached the midway point. "All Space personel, please launch. God speed" Each of the heavy duty rocket thrusters on hundreds of HLV's started at once, the noise was incredible and the excitment was incredible. As the increased pulling from such a move almost made Jason throw up, it was so sudden. As the mass of HLV's exited the Earth's atmospher, things quieted and that framilar feelong of zero gee training returned to Jason. Jason almost exahusted from the rush, fell asleep. At the same time, the entire assembled space fleet that launched from North America's mass driver, rendezvoused with the mass of HLVs. They continued the dash to the Luna, as they would arrive hours later. "We're approching the Moon petty officer" A voice awakned Jason from his lumber. Jason merely replied "Finally". ============================================================================= Around the world, it had finally begun. Not since the development of the colonies had such an Earth-based launch occurred in unison like this, and even the Federation planners could not hide their excitement at what was occurring. In essence, it was a gigantic rush toward the Moon, and the traffic would indeed be intense. The HLVs would make it to space and deliver their payloads, while the Spaceships would be divided between the Moon base and Earth Orbit. Every contingent, of course, would have their Mobile Suits and Support vehicles. The end of the Earth Commonwealth Civil War had finally come to an end. Though not as brutal on a physical level as the ZCW, there had been loss of life. The invasions of several key areas had been committed, and resistance had varied in many areas, but in the end, forces loyal to Admiral Travick had emerged victorious. The blow to Treize's faction had not been too bitter, however, as many had rejoiced at the repulsion of NZ from the planet. To finally be unified under one flag, for one cause, had brought many back into a well-need nostalgia. Everyone was optimistic now, for truly, the Earth was now safe (for the moment). In line with the mild regime change, the council had agreed upon a new name, which was actually the old name, which many agreed had both good and bad memories. But the biggest memory was that of unification. Earth Federation Though the space launches were physically military, everything was done under peaceful auspices. The goal, to reach the Moon and begin full relations with the Lunarians, was finally an attainable goal. The Luna government was ready for this as well, and nary an erection could be kept down as the government officials and private contractors realized the amount of money and economy the revitalized Earth would bring to them. The effect was two-fold: Luna would be funded deeply, while the EF gained more ships and space fighting capability, along with the better capacity to make Mobile Suits. Nobody was quite sure when the Zeon Civil War would end, but for now, the Earth didn't care to mind, nor get involved. It was a sort of unofficial armistice. A long awaited chance for both parties to breath and collect themselves. A new era had finally begun. |
