how to use the site!

or in laymans terms....HERES THE IDIOTPROOF GUIDE! :lol:
to start a conversation there is a tab marked "NEW TOPIC". type your desired question or comment in the large box. once you have entered this information scroll down the screen slightly and there is a button marked "POST TOPIC". this will begin a new conversation that all users of the site can answer
to answer an existing conversation click the "ADD REPLY" button. this will open another screen where you fill in a similar box. to post your reply for members to view scroll down once you have written your piece as before and click on "POST REPLY"
its easier then it reads trust me!
to change the style of the lettering
when you start a conversation or add a reply theres a group of boxes above the area you write in
b = bold type
i = italic
u = underline
s = strikethrough (put a line through text iebiscuits)
bigger/smaller alter the size of the writing as it appears on screen
color is a drop down that enables you to change the colour of the writing in your reply
simply highlight the text that you want to alter then click on one of those boxes and the displayed writing will automatically change to the way you want it.
to add a 'smiley' (emoticon) simply click on the desired smiley and it will appear in your text box as code. once your reply is posted the smiley will appear on screen
links/emails etc:
you only really need the following
URL
this inserts a hyperlink to another site.
click the tab,delete the "http://" script thats already there then insert the whole address for the site, then click ok.
when the next box comes up delete the "my webpage" script and write in what info you need to even if its just "click here"
when this appears in your post the info you have written in the second box becomes a clickable link
email button
same as above but you write the email address in-this becomes your email draft page
if you feel you want to play with the other tabs feel free
-
"quote" highlights any quotes you need,"img" inserts images (ill describe an easier way in a mo!) and "list" automatically formats a list. to be honest ive used this very type of board and can safely say ive never used them!
inserting pics to your post:
theres two ways of doing this...
(1)
look below where you write your post,youll see file attachments and a tab saying "browse"
click this tab and it will take you to your computers files. click on the desired pic and its file name will appear in the box below. click the tab that says "open" and it will be automatically appear at the bottom of your post as a link-when somene clicks this link the photo will appear on screen
(2)
this is a doddle!
register with an online photohost like photobucket .com.....follow their instructions for uploading your photos onto their site....then
when you get to the part of your post you want to enter a picture open another window with your Photobucket account in it.
under each pic in your account there is 3 lines of script titled Url, Tag, and IMG
left click the one entitled IMG which will turn it blue then right click it and select copy from the pop up box.
return to your post and right click under the text you have written and click paste.
the pic will now be in your post-you can put several pics into a post at a time this way whereas the other only allows one
there you go-you lot should be 200% at this in a few mins!
