One idea i've been toying with a while is how you could get a timeline in which there is a stronger Anti-Bush coalition in congress which includes anti-establishment members in both parties that perhaps has the votes to perhaps force an earlier end to the Iraq War, possibly by cutting off funding and holding hearings which eventually leads to impeachment. Say Ron Paul runs in the primaries against Bush in 2004, to be for Republicans what Eugene McCarthy was for Democrats in 1968. Perhaps have this allow for anti-war conservatives to come out of the woodwork earlier and while he is defeated handedly it creates more anti-establishment sentiment on the right. Bush still wins the election, but in 2006 a number of anti-war Republicans run for congress in addition to anti-war Democrats who form a bipartisan coalition in congress against Bush. You also get a larger anti-war movement in general which includes both progressives and libertarians and maybe more anti-establishment primary challenges to the Joe Lieberman's of the world. thoughts? |

You'd need Dubya to be more ambitious. Following up Iraq with attacks on Iran and Syria could get it. Moving up the 2008 crash to 2006 would also "help". |
