In OTL, the cattle of the Proto-Bantu developed a resistance to the Nagana Pest and this ultimately allowed for their great migration South into the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa. So, let's say this doesn't occur and thus without disease resistant livestock, their migration never really develops. Then, let's say starting out around the 1600s and then finishing around the start of the 19th Century so an alternate Scramble for Africa can take place, the Tsetse fly dies out. How does the lack of the Bantu settlement in Southern Africa combined with the less of the Tsetse affect the development of the continent just as the Age of African Colonialism dawns? |
