Should Kids have rights?; it feels we have none

You walk up to a teacher and say, "We're getting to much homework, I'm going to execise my freedom of speech and protest it to the principal!" You get sent to the office for insubodination. I'm tired of that happening. I mean if the constitution states that "all men are created equal" than why can't we have a say in things. why can't we protest things and be heared, not just talk about it secretly amonst friends in fear we will be caught and sent to the office. Or is it because we are kids and not men or women. I mean although we are younger, more naive, etc. and make wrong decisions, don't adults make wrong decisions too, wrongs that change things drastically in our economy, army, etc?

I was talking to my friend the other day on making a petition that would say to our Algebra teacher that he only taught us half the stuff on a test he just gave us. My friend replied, "Jeff, you idiot, we can't we'll get busted! He doesn't even care about what we think." That sounds like being discriminated from a common cause. I mean doesn't everyone have the Bill of Rights as long as you are a US citizen? Aren't we US citizens? Or are we known as "stupid kids" or "damn ice-smoking youth?" instead of US citizens? We should have the basic amendment rights passed down by for-fathers before us 300 years ago.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I don't know, more intellegent people need to discuss this.
It sounds like you are not thinking about this enough.

I don't know, I say stop whining and shut up, but that's just me.

also if you did that it would disrupt the class, and if i remember correctly, that would turn your "freedom of speech" escapade into what could be considered a riot, and it says that it all must be done in a calm and orderly manner, on public property, where you are not disturbing anyone(not in those words though)...

yes...kids are U.S. citizens, but they dont have the same rights...because theyre kids...they are still learning and still growing...they dont know as much as people who are older, because they havent lived thruogh it..theyre are exceptions...but adults dont believe it alot of the time..=/
Lots of adults dont respect kids..because they think theyre "stupid kids" or "damn ice-smoking youth?" .
you have to realize lots of 40 and 50 years olds are still living in the past...they think sex before marriage is a sin, inter-racial marriage is a sin..."etc.." just because thats how they were raised.

In some states, at 16 you can drop out. Though it is not a very smart decision, it is a choice you are given. Im not really an expert on laws so, I may have to do some research on the matter.

Heartbreaker Your Time is Up.
I'm a kid myself and personally I believe that we should be limited in our rights.
I mean, adults have been through more, seen more, learnt from their mistakes. We are still young, and learning, we need guidance not to go out on our own. It wouldn't make sense to let 14 and 15 year olds to vote or make the descion to drop out of school and what not. It would be chaotic.

Also, I think you should listen to your teachers no matter how stupid or irrational they seem. Maybe not everything they say is right but still their trying. Give them a little credit people. They're still teaching you a lesson and trying to discpline you. You'll look back on what they said one day and it'll help you.

If you feel there is any injustice at your school, you could always complain to your parents about it and get them to talk to the teachers.

Centuries ago, you'd be considered an adult as soon as you could have kids of your own (around 14 or 15 or something). These days though, you'll be 25 and they'll still call you "that kid".

Anyways, that insubordination crap is stupid. Kids shouldn't get trouble for complaining about their stupid teachers. Teenagers whining about their life being unfair: BIG FIRE TRUCKING DEAL.

Grownups have gotten really lame in the last decade.

well I am known as the rebellious war like type so it could just be my logic. I mean before I was more quiet but now I'm...war-like. We all have different views so no use arguing with each other bout what the legal age of dropping out is. I mean if people had the same ideas and stuff it wouldn't be a debate, it would be a speech

I am still as child(12 years old)... I don't want to say kid because I am not a goat.

I have a teacher she teaches Science. Mostly when given a test she gives the wrong chapter to study and then she says 'Anyhow your suppose to read ahead' and other stuff. She talks ahead when didn't even go through current.

But I think small or limited rights are good enough. We are still childern and thats good enough. We could still enjoy life and have alot fun. We have alot of time to spend, we don't need to go to work thats up to our parents until we are adults. All we practically need to do is go to school and become something good while then enjoy all the free time you can have before your thrown in the adult world...jobs.
