Welcome to Bangladesh2050 community. A DEVELOPED BANGLADESH BY THE YEAR 2050 We have started an Internet discussion group called Bangladesh2050. The goal of this group is to discuss and find ways to make Bangladesh a developed country by the year 2050. Initial targets: - to include as many Bangladeshi’s and people of Bangladesh origin as possible, who are Internet literate and can participate in Internet group discussions - membership is open to personal acquaintance of other members only - to reach a membership size of at least 1 million and eventually include entire “Civil Society” of Bangladesh in and outside the country - to have members from all 65,000 villages and para/mohallas in small and large towns and cities - this group will have a flat democratic structure, also called Direct Democracy, where all members will be informed on all issues for decision making, in the group website(s) - membership will be open to people of all religion, gender and social background, but members must be at least 18 years old - all members should vote on all issues raised in the agenda for a general group wide vote - there will not be any elected leaders in this group as all members will decide on issues by direct vote on the Internet - temporary committees can be created and voted in for specific tasks for specific durations, who will carry the mandate of the entire group, but can be replaced at any time - group chapters will meet in local, regional, national and global conferences and seminars time to time, to keep some level of face to face contact among members of different national or international/diaspora chapters - data collection will be conducted on Bangladesh population by opening database files on all 65,000 villages and para/mohallas by resident members or paid employees - projects will be undertaken to educate all Bangladeshi children to have a minimum level of English and Internet skill, so that they can receive distance education using the Internet and become future members of this group - scholarships may be sought for exceptionally talented students among expatriates and in Bangladesh so they can achieve higher education, success and become contributing members of this group - focus groups will be created to look at various economic and other sectors of Bangladesh to monitor and improve performance of those sectors, including manpower, manufacturing, education, agriculture, environment, commerce, law enforcement, finance and banking, river and water resource management, electricity and power generation, foreign policy, political culture, role of Armed Forces etc. This group will not involve in partisan political or religious activities and will not support any particular political party or religious group. It will remain a group and organization focused on the development of the people of Bangladesh and their diaspora community in various parts of the world, mainly through improved access to education, training, information, finding ways to improve nutrition of children from an early age and other similar activities that will improve the quality of human beings, get them organized through the use of technology and thus create an environment where we can all help each other as members of a very large group, that will initially include our Civil Society first and may eventually include our entire nation, once they become English and Internet literate in stages. Our group currently has the following site where new members join by invitation: http://groups.google.com/group/bangladesh2050 We have also started a facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/page/bangladesh2050 The above facebook page wall and discussion boards are open to any facebook member. Hopefully it will work as a good tool to recruit people among Bangladeshi facebook members. Welcome to the Bangladesh2050 forum. For all new users, please introduce yourself in this topic thread. For existing members, please extend our welcome to new users at their introduction. |

Pappu Bhai, I am thinking of the following two short mission statements: - Unite Bangladeshi internet users - Work for a developed Bangladesh Please let me know how this sounds for attracting Bangladeshi general internet users to join our group. I have already used above two lines as heading in our www.Bangladesh2050.com homepage Edited by kalu, Mar 24 2011, 12:12 AM.

Dear lazoglu bro, this is kalu. Actually, we don't want to increase membership, this is not the purpose of this website. The purpose is to invite people and exchange opinion among people we personally know. Eventually we want to use it as a community forum for polling on action items. It is not open to everyone, that is why we put a restriction on membership. In other words it is more of a communication tool for a community rather than a open to public website that wants to get more members. In fact we do not allow google bot, I believe, I need to check with the site admins about that. One of the key purpose is to have private discussions. Eventually when we have sufficient membership, we will have our own server and even use encryption. |
