Three letters that will live ever on in infamy! L.U.M. or the Lair of Unconscionable Mischief! My wife and I have just come out of a length bankruptcy settlement and having decided to settle down, are looking at buying a house to accommodate our growing family. Fortunately, my wife is accepting and considerate of my needs and interests to a fault, so for years I've had my own man cave in one fashion or another. For the longest time I've referred to it as the Fortress of Solitude, however I've decided it's time to drop that name (too goody two shoes for my taste). Being a big Venture Bros fan I've decided on something more... SINISTER! Hence, the Lair of Unconscionable Mischief, the final solution in carpentry. Mostly, I wanted something that sounded fitting in the Venture universe, I imagine it would most probably be the musty game room of Henchman 21 and his alter ego, the Viceroy. Anyhow, the main reason for bringing this up is that with the New Year on it's way I've got plans for my gaming space. This thread will detail those changes and my thoughts as I progress, it's hard right now because things are tight in my current area. But, that may very well be changing as we've got our eyes on a new house (3100 sq ft) with a basement I have already claimed as mine. The area I'm looking at specifically (pictured below) includes a small room with a large utility sink, a built in table with drawers. This is the laundry room, and also the main gubbins for the central vacuum system (yes, this house has vacuum outlets in every room). For my purposes, this room would see light use for storage of chemicals and such. The second room however would be where the magic happens. A large bare room with fluorescent lighting. There's room for all of the roleplaying stuff, books, etc on a single wall and display cases for minis. 2 Gaming tables, and of course a lot of real estate for setting up assembly, painting, and casting stations. Basically, everything I could ever need/want in a gaming area. Fingers crossed, either way though I'm definitely giving my work area a rethink. |

Thanks, it's a 20ft sq room with multiple outlets, including two 220 outlets. So, I'll probably put a full size fridge down there. |

Oh, that's even better. I thought you maybe meant 200sq ft, which would still be awesome. 400sq ft is  |

I think you should also take up brewing kegged beer. Then put in taps and a CO2 tank. Option to just buy the kegs I guess. I'm glad you and your wife worked out all the Rules of Engagement in the game of Domestic Imperialism. I did a similar thing before we got married (20 years this year). I get the 3rd Saturday of every month for gaming, with options for other weekends, and, I get one of the spare bedrooms converted to man-cave. I also do woodworking so I have outfitted gaming table, bookshelves, display cases, etc. However, thae fact you have 400 sq feet to my 120 puts me in the minor leagues. I look forward to seeing how you progress. |
