Greetings all, As you may have seen in Conjoy's regen spam SCGT army list there is a need for some chaos ogres in town. I'll be running a variant of the linked list at SCGT and currently only have three chaos ogres from my regular list (I run them with Musician and Mutant with MoS as a chaff hunting unit). Posted Image These three formed my original unit and were built using Dragon Ogre torsos and heads with sculpted legs. They came out looking like this: Posted Image I need another 5 to make up my unit of 8 for SCGT. So I started again. This time using ogre bulls as the basis, but still with Dragon Ogre heads: Posted Image Posted Image I then decided I needed a new GW wielding Mutant he is based on a classic Bloodbowl ogre I've had lying around for ages. I decided I'd rather have him used in an army than sat in a box... even if that involved cutting up a classic miniature. Posted Image Posted Image Up next is the other guy for the left hand file. I've assembled two with weapons this way around so that the weapons stick out of the block. I think its interesting how you can improve a concept with sculpting as you go along. By lengthening the legs on the most recent two I think the legs look a lot stronger than on the first two that had black orc shoes. The shins are quite narrow comparatively. Not outside the realms of physical variation but I prefer the grounded, heavier look of the latter. Posted Image I've tried to tie in some elements from the Chaos Warriors miniatures into the composition of my ogres. The thigh armour (tasset on the WoC as it's hung from the breastplate section but possibly a Cuisse here as it is a standalone piece of metal), chain mail and turned over boots in particular echo the core infantry. I also added shoulder spikes to their armour as a nod to the WoC. The belt buckles are taken from the edges of Ogre gutplates and tie the sculpted abdomen section into the belt of the stock ogre torso as well as reminding of the belts of the warriors. Hopefully these touches, along with Dragon Ogre heads and some swapped weapon heads, and the increased height of the ogres will show their chaotic allegiance at a glance! here's a family photo of the newbies: Posted Image So I hope that's interesting to some of you! I will post progress this week but I also have a high elf commission on the go so it may be down to the wire to get them done by Friday! cheers A. |

Your PLOG on warseer is excellent. But this is a really nice compilation on the ogre projects. It makes a great thread, and read. Your chaos ogres are just absolutely spot on conceptually. And the execution is very good. My only criticsm is your chain mail looks a bit rushed, if you know what I mean. Unless its meant to be fur (on the newest guys). |

Very very cool! I slightly prefer the ones made using Dragon Ogre torsos, but they all look good. |
