I say the orientation doesn`t matter und you answer, that they then HAVE TO BE fixes, but the other way around...what? That makes no damn sense. @common sense: Common sense says it doesn`t matter, because it`s mainly a disadvantage to do so. @sportsmanship: Forbidding something that isn`t helping the other and isn`t forbidden is not sportsmanship, but narrow minded. If I use an app on my phone to “roll the dice“ is it bad sportsmanship, just because everybody else uses normal dice? No. Is it common sense to use normal dice instead of an app? No. People use stuff differently and as long as they aren`t (figuratively) hurting you (or someone else besides themselves), just let them...THAT`S sportsmanship. I just cannot bother with this anymore as you clearly do not get it. Bases are what they are and if 98% of players use them same way, I think that 2% should do the same. Now lets go back to topic. |

@Jofarin: Interesting how you refuse to answer if hounds are allowed to be used with their front as 50mm wide. Ignoring the things that makes you wrong, does not make you right. Glad I'm not your opponent. ON TOPIC: Hellcannons rock for some, and drop for others. Depends on playstyle, luck and what the opponents normally field wether or not they work for different people :) |

Let me check
No, I didn't refuse to answer. The "sure" was an answer to both. It's exactly the same for dogs as for horsemen. They have exactly the same base, making them exactly the same width if based wide, giving the enemy the exact same amount of attacks against dogs. I just stated the horsemen as example as you only stated horsemen and dogs and not knights and all the other things that have bases with different side lengths.
So if 98% of WoC players use their BSB as a hortennse, the other 2% should too? If noone uses marauders but some few people, they shouldn't? Because they aren't meant to be played? If someone uses an app to roll dice...Oh wait, I already gave that example and noone answered it. You are drawing a totally arbitrary line noone shall cross, that neither gives you a disadvantage, nor is disallowed or cultural unfavorable and bothers noone but your stubborn mind. Look deep inside you, why does this bother you so much? Is it just because someone had a thought you never had? What is your disadvantage from it?
No, I'm totally not. If people are stupid enough to do it, let them. THEY have the disadvantage, it's not forbidden by anything, why bother??? Edited by Jofarin, Jun 25 2014, 10:56 PM.

I'm not going to bother with this anymore. Seems you won this discussion long ago, Mr. Trollking Jofarin, the moment when I started wasting my time replying to you. Lesson learned. |

Use the base the way they display it on the webstore. As for conversions, use the correct base in the way the correct model uses it. |

It depends on my opponent. Against fast armies I usually put him on the flank so as to keep something scary and capable out there. Against more normal line type armies I put him in the centre beside my trolls and throgg. Prevents them getting run down if I happen to lose, and if I fail the Ld test he's in the game (potentially charging) instead of just wasting a turn and moving into some position with limited sight lines. |

Not trying to add fuel to the fire on this just trying to help clear it up. Just checked the GW website, they model it 100x150mm. If that's the way they represent it, then that's the way it should be. Their products, their game, their rules........ Now back to topic :p As a new WoC player the original thread and question are interesting. When would you not use one though? |

The dogs are shown on the website 1*5, am I also not allowed to field them 2*3 because of this? What are your arguments that speak against it besides “no one does it“? What`s wrong with it? What do you fear? Seriously, I give serious arguments and all I hear as answer is :-you can`t be serious“ and “you`re trolling“. No, I`m not. I try to engage in a serious discussion. But for a serious discussion, someone has to either acknowledge an argument as right or argue against it with reason. |
