A little challenge for the tactical-minded :); WoC vs VC in campaign. Not everything available.

Wow, that was a reeeeealy unlucky game. Both deployment, charge rolls and magic wise.
Like Jofarin said, the way he uses the book is correct. It's a cool Item.

But you shouldn't count on having that poor a game every time.

I am actually starting to think that a bus of Skullcrushers with a defensive character on jugger/daemonic mount would be really good against them. KB wouldn't work against it at all, so no bypassing armour saves. they have 3 wounds each, so the wounds cause in the round where the BK champ fights the challenge to let the Blender Vamp lord blend, the wounds he cause won't be as effective. And then the character can take over in the challenge against the vamp lord, and he will only have Black knights to trying to hurt the crushers, without being able to ignore their armour.

Ofcause with enough buffs and debuffs, any fight can be turned to the other players favour, but that would be true for any combat in the game.

I usually run skull crushers, But at the moment we are using swedish comp, and crushers get comped very hard.

Just pin it with the hortennse. No need to waste chaff. Kill the champ, then combo charge and challenge or pillow fight 1200 pts with 400 pts till the end of the game (if he takes the challenge with the lord or refuses).

With your ammount of luck, chaff all the way. Otherwise statistically and logically, I completely agree with Jofarin. But if you are rolling so many 1's, just play another day :D

Hortense BSB? does he have the Crown of command?
Hortense gets comped very hard, I would still prefer to magic that unit off the board. Hortense gets no strength bonuses from weapons when he fights that lord anyway, I usually use the DP, but he failed the charge and got destroyed by the TG.

Can you have special characters?

If so, try out a unit of trolls with Throgg along with the Tzeentch Bsb attached to the side of the unit.

Run that unit up into them, or receive the charge if you aren't able to chaff it up enough, fairly likely. Then challenge with the Bsb instead of Throgg. Whether he accepts with the little vamps or his blender lord, it won't be an issue. By the time Throgg has dished out his 5 strength 8 attacks, uncorked his "ignore armor saves" breath weapon and the trolls puke on the knights as well...well, combat res alone should crumble the unit in one turn. And, with the Bsb attached to the unit, the screams won't hurt him. You'll be able to absorb screams with regen if he even bothers to go there.

That's my theory hammer anyway. I'm facing a knight bus with a pair of terrorgeists in tow on Thursday for the first time since I started running Throgg. I'm hoping that will be a nice answer to that unit because it's a tough nut to crack with our army, as good as we are at cutting through armor. The terrorgeists are very scary and the blender vamp with the other tricksters is just a tough guy to face for us.

I don't have the models for throgg with trolls, Also I am running a swedish comp list, I would have to see how to adjust to the comp to fit that unit in.

I think the best idea for me is to run a Tz BSB on foot with a unit of Tz warriors with Halberds. And try to combo charge the unit. I need to separate his BSB from his lord, so they don't synergize properly.

I smoked the knight bus today with the tzeentch Bsb and Throgg troll unit combo...with room to spare.

I attached the Bsb on demonic mount to the side of my unit so I could avoid the screams of death from the double terrorgeists. I ran that unit of 7 trolls, Throgg and the BSB into his face and let things go from there. I challenged with the Bsb. The Chuck Norris vamp accepted because he had the other tricksters shard and new he was his best bet for taking down my Bsb.

He caused 3 wounds to my Bsb and killed him without any overkill. I had planned on losing him.

Then Throgg's breath weapon went to town.

I had room to spare when it came to crumbling the vampire lord to death. It was beautiful. B)
