hi guys, today i'm gonna play against HE (3000 with etc comp)

i can't decide wheter to take lvl3 with familiar or lvl4 (in both cases lore of tzeentch), he will be inside knight bus

lvl3 with familiar is 10 pts chaeper, but offers me better channeling (5+ with re-roll of 1's)
lvl4 is obvious +4 to cast/dispel

what is more important for you?: a better oportunity to have one more dice every phase or maybe bonus +1 to cast/dispel?

If I must pick one, 4lvl is more solid. Your 3lvl choice is good as any but if someone has to pick, then it is 4lvl because it does have solid bonuses from what it owns.

I agree with R3do, but the lvl 4 is not THAT much better in my opinion, so if you need the 10 points to get a musician in an important unite somewhere else, or something similar, then I'd go with the lvl3+Familiar.

so you think that having (maybe) one dice more is less important than +1to cast/dispel?

At least I think that way. Maybe I just do not trust my dice that much :D

But it's a guaranteed +1 Cast/Dispel ,unless you miscast and lose a lvl. How many games have you not channeled a single dice before?

That's good catch Dirty Mac, i didn't thought about miscasts.... + i have great experiences with tz+familiar/staff, so today it will be lvl3+familiar. thank you.

i run knight bus every single game in 8th ed.

The chance on channeling increases from 7/36 to 14/36, so you get 7/29 more powerdice than before. One die has statistically +3.5 on the cast or dispell attempt, so +0.845 statistically overall. Compared to the cost (0.715 of the lvl 4) it`s only a good deal if you cast or dispell only one spell. BUT your enemy is way more nervous with another die in your pool.

Why not play both (or lvl 4+channeling staff)?

The lvl 4 tzeentch has a greater chance of stealing a spell from the opponent caster. And I love stealing spells ;)

true, glean magic is a very funny spell, especially when enemy caster fails T test.
