Hey guys, I have an upcoming game against a High Elf player, as I have yet to play High Elves can anyone give me some pointers? I know they come with a strong magic phase a good shooting phase and have ASF. I think if I get them in close combat I should do well (if I get to swing back) I have a strong unit of Knights backed up with a Chariot and hounds, but the bulk of my warriors will need to remain static, I am playing in a narrative campaign with my local league, I have to defend a piece of terrain until turn 4. Any pointers? |

For the love of god watch out for White Lions. Almost nothing we have fights them favorably if they have BotWD. |

If you can change your BSB our "unkillable" lord does well vs high elves, as he basically always survives the close combat. Just gotta watch out for magic that breaks our gear. |

Barded Daemonic Mount, TaliPres, GW, MoT, Third Eye. It's incredibly effective. Most people will hate that you took it as a heads up but it does a good job of gumming up those Lions if you can avoid getting broken and run down. I *love* Tzeentch, if you want I could write you up the 2k list I'm planning on using when I get up there. |

If your versing High elves then your definitely going to see Banner of the World Dragon and the Book of Hoeth giving him a very powerful magic phase and the ability to shrug off miscasts! Is the wizard you have a level 4 or a level 2? His magic phase will be very strong so beware! Also Scyla will most likely not last long against the elves as their bolt throwers will eat him for breakfast, with a 6+ ward as his only defence, you can lose your general pretty quick and give them free VP. the unkillable lord will be perfect in this instance as the elves have very little to combat such a character, and without the magical weapon also, it will prove highly effective against any unit thrown at! Also i would watch out for the pheonix guard if you face them, they are one of the best infantry units in the game in my opinion, with a 4+ ward base they will hold you in combat, with life buffs they will be a nightmare, so pick your combats wisely against them. also, concerning the BSB, it would be better if you give the unit the Blasted standard and then give him some magical items instead, like Armour of destiny, scaled skin, Mark of Tzeentch, scaled skin and maybe a shield if you want or just a great weapon and then you have another 3+ ward guy on the board, a very good BSB :D hope this helps :D |

Nurgle Shield warriors do a great job of beating white lions, so do both versions of nurgle chariots |

How often do you take Nurgle warriors with shield though? If you are strictly tailoring that works but as a general rule most warriors run halberds. Even against elves it gives you a +1 to wound, for which you only lose a 6+ armor and the parry. I guess it depends on unit size. Nurgle with Halberds supported by Chariots or characters with Halberd is your best bet. I always run a 1+ rerollable AS BsB with Halberd or GW in my warrior unit. He is an absolute monster and really helps chew through units like white lions. That warrior block supported by a chariot, two in bigger games, dogs and a SorcLord (DP in 2.5k) on disc with the 3++ and Metal magic. Skullcrushers round out the list. Threat saturation is very real and your SorcLord is the ultimate in utility. Nuking units with Trans, blasting high AS units, boosting our save or adding chances to hit. A great lore for a diverse, balanced list with lots of targets. |

To be honest I've stopped taking warriors about 3 weeks after we got our new book, and Skullcrushers about 6 or 7 months after that. Warriors require far too many points to take, and then more points to support, and Skullcrushers have far too much influence on my game plan than I would like. |

Nurgle Warriors with shields and halberds :) 35 of them mowed down dragon Princes, white lions with BOTWD , and a unit of sword masters. Oh ya I had a sorcerer buffing them up with regen :) wounding on 2's while you get a really good chance he misses ( mostly hitting on 5's) and having your armor save ( although some only 5+'s ) I had really good times with this unit, hope this helps ;) |
