Hi all. I know that Dragon Ogres are far from the optimal choice but if you were to run them, what would be their best loadout? Thanks. |

4 with GW. Run them 2x2 and open up cans or slay monsters. |

Agreed, :) usually i run mine 2x2 with GW's and im usually successful. Last time i mowed down a Dragon Prince unit and they only suffered like 2 wounds. It was a 15 man unit. |

Do all of your units kill large amounts of Dragon Princes? :P |

Another thing to consider is Scyla is the same troop type so benefits from a look out sir roll as long as you have 5 rank and file. This would then make them very expensive but hey, it would help them out with MR3, LD10 and give him some survivability. Could work well with a battleline that includes throgg and core trolls on one flank and a hortennse DM BSB with another troll unit flanking the DO/Scyla unit. |

Interesting. Is it even slightly competitve or more of a fun idea? Edited by CaptainAl, Jul 16 2014, 02:20 PM.

Just be careful what you run them into. They're not particularly durable (bad saves). My brother plays ogre kingdoms and if we ever get paired up at an event or tournament I basically have to write this unit off because he just dumps mournfang cavalry on them and they just die, outright. |

expensive but if you are fielding DO that would make them better. I don't think they are competitive at all. I fell out of love with DO when they lost T5 (long, long time ago now...). If it helps a comp score or something like that then sure thing but in an environment where you can pick anything i would rather spend points elsewhere. I guess it depends on what you are trying to do with them. Deathstar DO unit with Scyla sounds nasty but super expensive and you probablly won't make their points back. Small units with double handed weapons work ok as a supporting unit/flank protector and gives us access to S7 so they are a decent can opener as well. If you want to run them, keep the unit small i rekon. |
