Hello, I'm going to be playing a few warhammer games when I visit my friend over the summer and he's just told me about an event at his local gw store. It's a 750 point unbound fantasy event. I'm still fairly new to warhammer so have 0 experience of an unbound event and only found out what it actually was in the past 5 mins. Just curious what would be recommended for this type of thing? I know my friend is considering 3 stegs from lizardmen. Cheers |

Well I was told it means you can take anything regardless of the normal rules for an army build as long as it's 750 points or less from 1 army. |

It's basically unbound from 40k but ported over. You just don't have to follow the army composition. Do you still need to follow 0-1 on special characters? I'd almost recommend just taking an ungodly amount of magic (demon prince?) with something killy that can assassinate stuff. Perhaps a hellcannon or a death sorcerer or two? |

I had never heard of anything like this before. What a bizarre format! I'd expect a fair number of monsters to be fielded, as well as lords, probably both sorcerer and combat. I mean, the whole point seems to be 'avoid the core tax in your list and field some thing fun!' You'll need to figure out how lenient they are with list construction (specifically characters) but... Impulsively, I think Tzeentch could be tons of fun. I think running two characters (sorcerers, lords, exalteds... Whatever you have the points for) would be a great start. Put them on Daemonic mounts or discs, give one the Talisman of Preservation, the other the Armor of Destiny, and then give one the Third Eye of Tzeentch. You now have two very potent and survivable characters. Give 'em weapons and such to flesh out their kit (Warrior Bane should be clutch and cheap if I'm right about the characters and monsters). If you run these two, I'd also suggest runing a Tzeentch Warshrine, as you can then manipulate the stats of the characters from the Eye of the Gods rolls and better kill what you need to kill. The Warshrine should be pretty survivable on its own too. Edited by TastyBagel, Jul 16 2014, 06:56 AM.

Archaon may not be bad either... Supported by a low level sorcerer/hortense hero/lord perhaps? (can't check if there are enough points for that here. |
