Is the Warshrine restricted in the same manner as a chariot in regards to attacks the shrine bearers have to the flanks and rear?

Technically yes. Doesn`t make a lot of sense fluff wise (although you could argue that the shrine is easier balanced front to rear and the bearers can`t easily turn), but the rules are clear.

Well im taking two :D. Trying something different and it has done pretty well so far. With all the MSU they do surprisingly well to hold up small units and they are also good at holding things up long enough for me to get other units involved in the combat plus buffing my already good characters. And for 135pnts you get 5T 5W with a 3+Ward and decent offense. I don't thing they are that horrible.

Sorry, meant for their CC dmg output. As an anvil they are amazing, hands down.

Also, for a mono khorne army, best way to take advantage of power dice and compensate for lack of magic. Shrine also can never blow up on its own!

it's not worth your opponents time to kill it, I love running one. plus they are a top notch looking model.

I took one for the first time to the US Masters because they are SO cheap in Swedish comp. I actually quite enjoyed it. And, the conversion potential on that model is amazing. So, they are not only fun to put on the table from an aesthetic standpoint, but hold their points VERY well.

Tactically, I think they pair well with the Throgg/troll unit. That unit is a little less mobile than some of the other standard characters being run like the flying DP, tzeentch Bsb, tzeentch casters on discs, slaanesh cast on fast cav...all of those models are best when kept very mobile. Therefore, the use of the spell casting ability of the shrine is somewhat limited due to it's slow movement. But, I've found a troll unit is semi-easy to keep up with and it's not hard to boost Throgg even more.

Other characters on foot in infantry units would be easy to maintain pace with too.

For the points, its hard to find a more resilient model in the game. Their damage output is somewhat lacking, but its not terrible.

I thought the US Masters was golf? I understand the need for high armour and ward save due to low flying 4's, but you are more likely to bogey than pop a DP before the 18th hole. And how would your standing be back at the club when you'd let a spawn loose on the course? There go your fees. Common mistake among warlords that, mistaking a golfing green for a battle field. I once brought a pack of hellhounds to a football pitch, but didn't get very far because they ran off with the ball and wouldn't give it back. Even when I tried to lure them back with parts of footballers...

US Masters exist in multiple disciplines like golf, diving, swimming, cycling, track&field and warhammer. The golf one is the most popular one, but they have no copyright or trademark on the name or something.

Nice!
Can't play Warhammer (especially competitively) without a sense of humor.

Shrine Survived a cold one bus (cold one riders with 2 heroes and a lord in it, all 3 with GW's) for 1 turn, and it buffed chosen well enough. and has decent spell to throw dice at it I guess. I would take it with chosen only, but its a fun and intimidating thing.
