be'lakors bitch
Hi all.

Firstly id like to start by saying the good old be'lakor is a auto include for me.

Im new, dont fully know the rules, brand new to WoC but.......know that i want to take be'lakor :)

My question in about the rest of the list. Now i know thats a hugely broad question but its mainly centered on hq. If i use the dataslate be'lakor, what other hq would you recommend?

I think he means Characters (in 40k Characters are HQ = Headquater). I am also fan of Be'lakor. He has excellent fluff and he is also wield-able on the battlefield. I have him unpainted but I am not gonna wield him until I paint him up ^^

About characters, you should take BSB and maybe sorcerer with Dispel Scroll but that is not necessary needed.

BSB is an auto include for me. With ld8-9 it is easy to fluff a roll. Our stuff is too expensive to be running away or failing stupidity checks etc

Welcome to Fantasy!

If you're not sure what Bsb is, it stands for Battle Standard Bearer. And we need them due to our relatively low leadership army wide. 8 leadership is risky if you lose combat by even just one or two. And panic checks can be annoying testing at 8the without a re-roll. You go from succeeding 72.2% of the time without a re-roll to 92.2% of the time with the Bsb nearby. Huge difference.

The most popular Bsb build is with the mark of tzeentch on a demonic steed with a great weapon. You equip with the talisman of preservation which combines with the mark of tzeentch for a 3+ ward save. Then stick Third Eye of tzeentch on him to re-roll 1'sto when making ward saves. Soul Feeder is also nice to stick on him since your demon prince won't be using that.

Yeah sorry about that i meant lords :)

Ok so a bsb is really a auto include. Could i do that tzeentch build but on foot in a unit of warriors?

Also if i take a sorcerer as my warlord, is it worth having him as a lvl 4 as be'lakor is a lvl 4?

Thanks for the welcome and replys :)

I personally don't like running the usual BSB much and prefer to have mine on foot in warriors. I usually run one of two builds.

Tough as nails, hits like a train: Exalted with BSB, GW, Mark of Nurgle, Dawnstone, Scaled Skin and Dragonhelm. Mostly hit on 5's and 6's, swings at S7 and has a 1+ rerollable Armor Save.

Blender: Exalted BSB with Mark of Khorne, Halberd, Helm of Many Eyes, Dawnstone and Scaled Skin. Same 1+ reroll armor save, but dishes out 5 S6 ASF attacks.

Sometimes I do a blend of the two and run with MoK, Dragon helm and GW but it depends on matchup. This goes in a unit of 17 Halberd armed Warriors with Full command, shields, and movement banner.

I wouldn't take another Lord option outside Bel.

Tough in hand to hand combat. But, lore of death picks those guys off with ease and I tend to see quite a bit of lore of death.

The Bsb on demonic steed is nearly indestructible due to his toughness going up to 5 and his wounds going to 3 with that massive save.

However, if you're looking to get away from the common tzeentch build, then those guys work.

Oh I didn't mean to imply they're better. I just don't like running him. My list already has enough cheesey nastiness lol.

Excuse my noobieness but is it not easier to kill a hero on a steed if hes running around on his own rather than in a unit.

Also can i use the be'lakor dataslate as my warlord?

The 3+ ward save where you re-roll 1's is so resilient that you WANT your opponent to target him rather than your other units. He is so mobile being by himself that he tactically gives you a lot of flexibility.

I've set him in front of monsteous cav units, like our skullcrushers and come out on top with him with no magic support. He's fantasic for adding punch anywhere you need it in your army. And he doesn't die. Usually if someone kills him it's because he failed his two chances at a break test.

Sounds pretty much like a auto include especially with be'lakor running around. However there doesnt seem to be a model for him. I dont mind making one but what base would he have? Normal cav sized one or a 50x50?

I've built mine on a 50x50 and every one I've seen other people make has been on the same base size.

50X50. If you run make sure it's an awesome model so people rage less :p
