No time soon. Our book is upper middle in terms of Strength and reasonably recent. There are quite a few books that really need work before us and they only release 5ish per year. Talk is that Vampire Counts are next but thats just speculation, could just be new models. |

I've heard they are hitting all the armies that have unique Magic Phases, so that would put Vampire Counts (due to their reliance on spamming the same spells) and Dwarves (with their lack of magic, but all the rune crap and bonuses against it). Given that Empire and Chaos are two of the iconics, I would say possibly late 2012 for us |

Right now the rumours on other sites seem to be saying: VC January Empire February-April (Yeah Harry said he heard Feb, actually.) Dwarfs After that things get trickier. I've heard Dark Elves, but also some WoC rumours. They may only be wishlisting, not sure. After that gap it's apparently Bretonnia and Wood Elves. This is from now to the end of 2013, I believe. I've heard a lot about WoC getting a book, possibly even before Dwarfs. I doubt it, though. |

Well I have read rumour on warseer about WoC being sooner rather than later, I believe in the empire rumour thread harry mentioned WoC are in the works. I would not be that surprised if WoC got a new book sometime next year, beginning of 2013. It would make a lot of sense to do something for WoC, they still have so many metal kits but enough plastic kits not to make it the same kind of project as say WE. What I would expect is something like: Plastic chosen Plastic warriors to get new weapon options in the spures plastic chariot/warshrine hybrid kit plastic dragon ogres maybe a plastic shaggoth depending if they gave it new rules. Dwarfs are not that in need of a redo as much as other armies and their rules work fine with 8th, same as empire, you also have to factor in how popular WoC are, so many people collect them you know they will get redone before so many other armies because its easy sales. |

it would make more sense to make another army thats non-popular more popular, so people just start a new army |

Popularity is a fickle beast, though. A lot of armies aren't popular purely for aesthetic reasons - that's a hard fix to make. |

This explains why marines always seem to be one of the first to get new kits and new codexs ;) Chaos have a new army book every edition of warhammer because they know people will buy it and all the new fancy models, it easy money. Trying to make a unpopular army popular is a big and risky task, when you making trying to make money, do you take on the risky jobs first or the safe ones? |

To be fair, they already stepped up and took a gamble when they made Ogres, because that's an army that hasn't been around for so long, so it doesn't have as large a following as some others. As far as I can tell, that gamble turned out all right for them, so hopefully the armies that NEED attention will get it. We're not one of those, for the most part, but there are a couple of things I wouldn't mind being revisited (lookin' at you, Forsaken...).

I was surprised to see ogres done so early but the rumours seem to suggest they are going for the armies worse effected by the changes of 8th (magic). I think WoC need more attention than you like to believe, the army is very limited in the way it can be played, chaos warriors, marauders, chaos warriors, hellcannons. Wood elves certainly need attention more but I think that is going to be a massive project, not just rules but the new models, lots of metal to replace. |

Brets could use a couple of tweaks as well. The Trebs and Lance formation are the only things they have going for them at this point... |

So the main thing going for them is the lance formation which makes the primary focus of the army the most viable cavalry in the game with the ability to actually break steadfast units with far less cavalry per unit than any other unit? Didn't all anyone use in 7th consist of knights and trebs anyways? how has 8th changed this? It hasn't, just killed RAF list which everyone hated anyways, sure they could use a update but I don't think its anymore so than WoC. |

It didn't, it just beat the tar out of their power level. They have a puncher's chance against some matchups, but if they run into a Horde of Marauders (for instance) they don't have the attack output to drop them below Steadfast numbers, and that's assuming they win to begin with. Combo-charges help some, but it's not a guarantee. And anything with Stubborn and/or Great Weapons owns them. WoC has its flaws, true, but at least it works most of the time. Brets... eh.
