I would like to incorporate a few bears into my chaos army (pulling chariots, marauder unit fillers, etc). I was wondering if anyone on here would know a good place to buy good bear models that are properly scaled to warhammer fantasy miniatures. Cheers Pictures and links would be greatly appreciated. :D |

if you want it cheap, go look in the toy store. there might be some cheap bear toys for children(the plastic things) I've succesfully created a lizardmen dinosaur mount out of a toy dino. |

There is a bear model that comes as a unit filler in the Empire Battalion I think? You might be able to get one off ebay or by asking around your local GW? |

I found a couple of interesting bear models on the Reaper Miniatures website... http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/14136 http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/02878 I think both are really great models, but I'm not sure what size/scale they are. Does anyone know how big these Reaper models are in comparison to GW's Warhammer models?? I'd hate to end up with a bear model that is ridiculously large or small in comparison with our WoC models. Cheers, |

I used to have a few reaper minis to represent my vampire lords and heroes since GW cant seem to sculpt vampires. They are very close in scale with reaper being slightly smaller. My only gripe with reaper minis is they are usually one piece which might be a pain for you if you dont want them to have a dwarf riding them.

The thing about GW Warhammer (and 40K) minis is that they are in what they call Heroic Scale. Which means, that whatever size the mani mini is, the weapons and heads are disproportionately large. The LotRings range is true scale, which is why they look smaller despite the bodies being to normal scale. |

Thanks for the tip, that is helpful. I was originally leaning towards getting the bear with the dwarf riding on top because I like the pose... but there is no way that I want to go through the hassle of trying to cut the rider off. @conjoy: so from your experience how would that Reaper mini bear I have linked above fit with GW marauders? Thanks for all the great input everyone! :) |

Is this the model you are referring to? Posted Image I think that is a pretty sweet model, and it would serve my purposes nicely. Unfortunately I think it is extremely expensive (at least every time I have checked on ebay). I'm not sure if it can be acquired more cheaply elsewhere. |

Posted Image Posted Image Don't know if this helps, but I did something similar for my marauders using an old GW bear model. I think it came from an early Hobbit miniatures pack they did, but I've never seen it since! |

That is really nice... that's exactly the sort of thing I have in mind. I've never seen that model, I've heard that GW had bear models available back in the day where they still did bits orders. Too bad I never had to foresight to pick one up then... I haven't seen them since. Thank you for sharing |
