On Point Denial

So, national tournament is coming, and I'm thinking of switching my game strategy from an MSU aggressive style to a more defensive, point denial based one.
The point is, ETC rules do not favour an aggressive style. The point system is quite different, you get 1 point for every 150 vp scored (starting from 10-10), and ranking is not based on wins, but on points. So, almost everyone plays with solid lists, aiming to concede the least points possible.
That's the list I'm working on:

a heaven's supreme sorc
bsb on horse
exalted on disc
20 tzeench warriors with shields and bann of discipline
8 knights of tzeench with blasted standard
3X5 mar. horsemen
2 tzeench warshrines
1 hellcannon

The tactic is to stay as far as possible with everything, and do some damage in early turns with heavens and hellcannon. The disc guy also goes hunting for small units. Meanwhile the shrines bless the knights, getting them ready for the CC (of course I'd aim for the DG, but +1T and +1 AT are also great). I would usually wait until turn 3, then make a purposeful charge with the knights, tryin to hit something that will give me points but will also break quite sure (of course if i get the DG i can charge everything). The warriors stay close for support, as the hellcannon and the shrines do, tryin to stop support units of the opponent.
Both the knights and the warriors have a save against shooting (ironcurse icon on the first) and magic (items in the sup sorc and the bsb), so the only easy poitns the opponent can get from a distance are the HC and the Horsemen.

So, what are your thoughts?

I forgot about deployment:

I would usually deploy in a corner, with the knights, warriors, HC and the warshrines all close together, and a couple of horsemen units on the opposite flank

HI Dark,

Just completed a 50 player tournament and had some ideas for things for etc.
I am also contemplaiting testing out a level 4 Heavens with either a level 2 tzeentch on disc with 3rd eye or a level 1 fire with 3rd eye and scroll.
I think if you have a level 4 a second caster is vital in case you fail to cast. Also even just slipping in a level 1 with 3rd eye can give you a massive selection of spells.

I usually run:

Level 4 disc
Level 1
Mounted bsb with favour, tal of endurance and armour of zhrakk

17 nurgle warriors with banner rage and halbards
15 warriors of Tzeentch with hand weapons/shields
5 hounds

8 tzeentch knights with blasted banner

Hellcannon
2 warshrines.

Has done me really well so far. Only problem is I can find the level 4 very hit and miss dependent on what you face and the comp.

Marking the shrines can be expensive but last time I faced two empire armies (only ones I lost to) and it probably would have helped.

The Hell cannon is a “hmm” at the moment. It again can be very hit and miss...could get two chariots for that if I jiggle some points.

I like my core units but could do with some more “chaff” for redirecting.

I like the idea of marauder horsemen but they can die very very fast

hi, thanks for your response.

I agree with things you say, but I feel a disc hero is more useful than a second sorc. I usually don't get so many pd to allow me double-casting, and failing with the sup, while really unlikely, due to the low casting values of heaven, would anyway leave me with a not-so-menacing level1. I prefer giving the sup. 3d eye, to benefit from the +4.
I like how you were able to slip in two solid units of warriors, but chaff/redirectors are really a must in a defenisve army.
On HC, yes, I know the guy is not an assurance, and I'm not a big fan of him, but, you know, it's the only serious long ranged menace we have. It's useful as a menace, to somehow limit the movement of monster etc.
Anyway, I'd like to hear more of how you played your army: deployment, opponents and so on.

Serious point denial has to be all about a unit of Chosen?
Doesn't have to be a Deathstar, but even 18 with shields is insane.

Thats OK.
Give your BSB the CoC and FotGods and put him in with the Chosen. If the Chosen have Shields you don't even really need DG at that point.
And your two rolls from the Shrine will still get to use FotGs.

i need the knights because they are immune to 13th spell, and in some matches (like skaven) they can advance and be almost sure to wipe anything they will face. Theyr higher movement gives me more tactical options.
