I'm fairly new to chaos and 8th edition, lately i've been trying to put together a list and i thought up a Sorcerer Lord and was wondering if anyone has run the same thing or something similar and whether it is viable or is a complete waste of points:

Sorcerer Lord: MoT, LVL 4, Disc, Tal of Pres, Favor of the gods, Ogre Blade, Stream of corruption and Blood Curdling Roar 465 pts

Running him with 2 shrines.

Cheers Ghetto Smurf

Why Ogre Blade and Favour of the Gods on a sorcerer lord? He should be away from combat, nuking things as he sees fit. However, yes, that would probably be OK, but he doesn't have the stats to be a combat hero.

Like AoA said - you really don't want him getting into combat. While Chaos sorcs are decent when it comes to combat, that's about all they are - just decent. You don't want to rely on them to be getting the job done.

Gifts like Stream of Corruption would be better on a combat character where the 2d6 extra hits will come in handy to help swing that decisive battle in your favor. Roar is ok as you can use it at distance and from out of line of sight so you can use it and then zoom out of harms way. I'd replace stream w/ either of the sorc only gifts.

As for the other magic items, ToPres is fairly standard for a lot of players. Again, the Ogre Blade and Favor are better suited to those characters who are going to be leaving a world of hurt on your opponent. An exalted hero has better stats then the sorc lord when it comes to combat. Get items that will benefit the sorc lords magical prowess: Infernal Puppet (other players HATE this item; not only does it help you but it screws w/ your opponents' magic users as well), Blood of Tzeentch, or even the lowly dispel scroll will be better suited to him.

yeah sorry you're right sometimes I am unrefined/rude. I hope you can forgive me.

On topic: I've used a sorcerer lord to flank charge, then hex the enemy and butcher them with warriors. Ka-ching! dead swordmasters all over the field!
