ok so chosen are apparently one of our best builds. but after you pay for Mot, full command, fotg, wailing banner, equip with halberds/great weapons, maybe a warshrine or two, they are bloody expensive. especially if they miss divine greatness. so what are they used for. when you deploy them what are you thinking? what do you aim them at? if its a solid anvil are they really that much better than tzeench warriors with shields? or if a hammer better then MoK warriors with halberds. is the death star worth it?? |

I run 18 with MoNurgle, Halberds, shields and FC. To that I can add some Banner/Magic item (FotG!) if I feel like it. Don't have any Warshrines yet though, so I am not using anything like that. They just go as a slightly better Warrior block with a nice gift on them. :) Theo |

I run 12 and a single Warshrine and with shields only. I use it as an anvil. Even if I do not get DG, I still pack a 5++ ward in combat and usually at least one other defensive buff (+1 to or +1 AS) if not two. They are extremelly tough to kill and win combat often by just not dieing (The BSB does a fair amount of killing). At 12, it is not a terrible point sink. Hinge |

I run 15 with GW & Shields and 2 Shrines, they just eat thru anything pretty much. The key is to have another 1-2 good combat units with them. This will make your opponent think twice on how to defend against this unit. GoC |

Yep. I have lost the unit a couple times to that. I do not put the Sorc in that unit against Skaven for that reason. I use the puppet to make him pay however. I figure I am playing 300 points down against skaven from the get go. The BSB is on a steed, shield, sword of might and Tal of End. Mix of offense and defense. Plus he is not effected by the 13th spell. |

Actually, as I think it through, of the 5 GTs with WoC, I have only faced 5 skaven lists, 1 at SoCal, 2 Adepticon, 2 at SAWS. twice the unit was nuked. Another time it was cast at my Warriors but failed to kill the unit (I think I had two guys left). The Ruinous Powers must have been looking down on me the other times. |

bsb on a steed is tough. not really needing the los roll with a 1+ armour save. and avoiding the 13th is gooooood. i think im going to steal your bsb build for a game or two and see how they deal with a mounted hero in an infantry unit do you normally deploy your sorcerer with the chosen as well, then pull him out before they hit combat? pretty easy to keep a sorcerer on foot within 6" of a infantry unit i suppose. |

I think how you play your Chosen will depend to a degree on your local metagame and personal gaming style. If your local experience tends towards bigger blocks and large infantry melees, these guys are invariably the biggest gun you can bring to the party. But if you prefer more of an MSU style then 14 would be the max you want to bring as your opponents may simply try and avoid you. For myself I run them similarly to Hinge as bait that can bite back! I run 10 Chosen armed with halberds as a bunker for two Heros: one BSB and one General and two Shrines to maximise the chances of DG. I always choose +1 A at the start to statistically maximise my chances of DG. This unit really hurts and can dish out an astounding 27 attacks at WS6 (or 7), S5. The idea is to tempt your opponent to actually engage it rather than just avoiding it with chaff. |
