Competitive choice is the sorcerer lord. Fun choice is combat lord and mental choice is daemon prince!

Wouldn't be able to afford it due to the 25% rule.

I think you should always pick your army based on the rule of cool ;)

If you want to field cool models, Daemon Prince. If you're willing to take a gamble, Chaos Lord. If you want to give yourself the best chance to win the game, Sorcerer Lord.

I think this is the best piece of advice I've seen in a long time ;)

Sorcerer lord tends to be more competitive than a melee. Obviously, there are exceptions to this.

The only really valid strategy I can see for a Daemon prince is either a warmachine hunter (we have better choices for that, though) or if you know for a fact that you're playing Tomb Kings, you can swoop in by turn two and take out their Liche Priest...this is assuming he's a valid enough target (i.e. on foot not on a warsphinx).

i think maybe a scorcher lord it is as I'm competitive and wanna win lol, maybe in bigger games i may have the manticore model, but a chaos scorcerer on foot in a unit seems good option.....?????

Yes, quite a good option. I'd only consider a Disc or a Chaos Steed if I had Knights in the army (no sense in letting him eat a cannonball to the face if I can avoid it), but I still think he's safest in a unit of Warriors.

If the Daemon Prince gave out a challenge wouldn't the Warsphinx not be able to attack assuming the liche priest accepted the challenge? Thanks in advance!

Nope, mounts of every sort participate in a challenge. So challenging the priest will get you nothing.

Exactly. So it's really not the best strategy, but it's the best one I could think of. My tomb king's friend is fond of throwing him on foot and dancing around everything, so the Daemon prince strategy just seems sound to me in that case.

Sorc lord is a fairly common choice, and probably the most competitive. However, I think that too many discount a well equipped lord.
What he brings is the ability to either generate CR, hold a line, monster hunt or any combination of those.
I personally like a Lord to provide for the entire army so its a lord kitted out for holding the line for me, backed by a BsB a lord choice makes the whole combat line ld reliable.
Its not like a lvl 2 tz sorc on disc can't drop some spell action with the haemonculus MoT and a wardsave really.
