So far I've been deploying the General in the center of the army with Knights and Warriors on either side. BSB inside the Knights, but closest to the center of the army. Marauders deploy on th eoutside of the formation, but well within 12" LD & BSB bubble. Dogs on the outside edges as chaff.

So far I've had soem good success running the knights right up the center. However I'm very willing to send the Marauders in as the first wave and the elites in just behind them when the enemy's main combat blocks have been crippled.

However this is with exactly 2 practice games that I've decided on these initial tactics, so I might learn new ways to use the army in the middle of a tournament very soon.

yep. Last time I used it in a tourney was last May, so it is about time I dusted it off and get it back out there.

Good Deal. We ought to all make battle reports and post them here, especially since we all three are taking quite different lists.

I'll make a report after this weekend's "Shiloh Slaughter GT", with LOTS of pictures. Then will likely use the same or very similar list at "Lonewolf GT" next month and make another full set of battle reports.

I'll also be playing a few campaign games with this general list that will be reported as well, so lots of reports to come as I learn to use Warriors just in time to have the new army book make me re-learn them!

I know this list can/should do well. If i remember correctly there was a warriors player at last years lonewolf that did very well with a similar list. itll be interesting to hear how it does at shiloh slaughter.

So I managed to finish the painting to a pretty high standard before the tournament... however to do this I continued painting pretty much all night Friday at the hotel and Saturday morning, flocking bases on the last models while we were waiting for table assignments.

The army still needs some detail work, the movement trays aren't finished yet, and I need a custom display board; but damn good for a 166 models in 3 weeks.

The tournament had 42 players, so it was a pretty good showing and several Warriors & Ogres players were there (nearly half the armies were these 2 races).

I didn't get any more practice games, so had to rely on the 2 proxy battles I played over a month ago when I was expiramenting with the idea of building a Warriors army.

I ended up with a record of 3-1-1

The Draw was really a win against a Skaven army, but due to scenerio rules I couldn't get a win even though I killed nearly 2000 pts vs his kills of less than 500 pts.

The Loss was against a gunline Dwarf army that got amazingly good Cannon, Grudge Thrower, & Organ Gun shots off and did so many hits he bypassed my Knights' armor/ward, totally annihilating them before they could get into combat! He never managed to get this lucky again and I think he lost at least 2-4 other games.

The Wins were against another Dwarf (without insane lucky dice) and 2 Dark Elf armies.

************************************************

The list worked great, Third Eye helped alot, Puppet killed a Grey Seer. Magic defense was sufficient enough to get the job done. 60 Marauders was perfect as I lost a unit only once the entire tournament. Those Marauders were intimidating and extremely deadly. Frenzy made them wander off a bit, but I was able to reduce the severity a little with some planning; even when they are not killing tons of enemies, they were distracting enough to let the Knights do their job. The Disc Lord was very helpful and never died during the tournament.

Overall I'm really happy with this army build, it fits my play style really well and performed pretty much the exact way I envisioned.

I took a few pictures to do battle reports & will write them up a little later when I have more spare time.

*******************************************************

With my relatively strong Win/Loss record and several bonus points gained from objectives; coupled with good Sports & Painting scores get me to 1st Place Overall. Of course I'm quite happy with this on my first try with Warriors, I'll be fixing up the little details in appearance and will be ready for Lonewolf in a couple weeks!

Congrats! It definitely shows me that i need to finish fully painting my marauders, since that alone can make a huge difference in placing. I'm glad to see you did so well in you first GT with Warriors, and will be interesting to see how you continue to do throughout the rest of the GT circuit this year.

I am worried about the huge turnout of Ogres and Warriors, though, as these are 2 of my 3 armies lol...I just don't want to be 'another' of the massively played armies (same reason why i dont have a space marine army in 40k, even though i've loved Space Wolves since i started playing in 2002). Might have to break out the High Elves until Warriors get redone after Lonewolf...

Hey man-

Looking forward to seeing these boys at Lonewolf. I scouted this when I heard you were moving on from Dwarfs. After a few quick bits o' theory hammer, I've pretty much figured this will rip my face off if we line up.

Those must have been some really lucky war machines to shoot you down- the Tzeentch Knights with 4+ vs. shooting and Stubborn 3+ Ward Chaos Lord on disc are a nightmare matchup for warmachine shooting.

Edit: Congrats on Shiloh!

The Dwarf gunline was rediculously lucky against me.

In addition the table was a blind deployment and I didn't remember exactly where useful terrain was on his side and was exhausted from a grand total of 3 hours of sleep the night before. I didn't deploy in the best spot since we didn't use alternating deployment where I could react to his choices (which was one of my plans: with the Warhounds allowing me to win the deployment phase). Afterwards it was obvious how I could have won quite easily, but I failed to see the path to victory until it was way too late.

Awesome looking army. I can't believe you modeled and painted every thing as quickly as you did. For you Warriors, did you use flagellant heads or?
