Looking to add a lvl 1 nurgle to my list

Hi all

I used a lvl 1 nurgle with the magnificient buboes spell and a feedback scroll in a 2 x 800pt double tournament this weekend with great success. I gave him conjoined homonculus to give a little extra boost to make it even harder to dispell and he took out the enemy magicians one by one. I enjoyed the smelly little thing so much I'm thinking about adding him to my larger lists.

He can't run around alone, so I have to add some protection. He could be a part of my knight bus or I could stick him in a grp of marauders.

If I add him to my knight bus, he would benfit from bsb and leadership 9 as I run this jolly gang with discipline banner and my bsb. My knights shall panic and run off the board no more!

Pros:

No points needed for marauders.

Leadership 9 with re-roll for stupidity tests.

Better line of sight on top of a horse (we normally use a ETC approach for LOS).

Cons:
I want the knights into combat asap. Meaning I might loose the angles needed for LOS and such while charging forwards. He'll be a soft target among the knights unless I pimp him up with more gear.

Adding even more points into an expensive unit might not be the way to go.

Marauder bunker costs.. say 20 men with shield, nurgle, light armour, full command: 160 points. That's 16 wounds before it gets scary.

Pros:
It can move about so should have better possibilities to always have a target in sight.

Shooting at nurgle units is -1 to hit. Let them shoot I say. If they want to use warmachines, let them. I'd rather have this bunch get smashed than my warriors or knights. Putting them on a long single line will also minimize number of units hit by any template weapons.

+1 in deployment

Cons:

Additional cost of 160ish points.

Worth it?

Sorry if this got a bit long and unorganized, just really eager to hear anyone elses point of view on this.

What about a 10-11 man marauder unit just for the look out sir! save? Saves you sinking heaps of points into a unit that you don't want to get anywhere near combat. Loses a lot of survivability, but might be easier to crowbar into your list.

Look out sir would be gone by round 2 with so few, and 10 marauders are only 50 points. Considering how we're willing to sacrifice warhounds at 30, I'm not convinced reducing the numbers is a viable solution.

Well that isn't always terrible. Means whatever did 10 wounds to that unit isn't doing those 10 wounds to your other (Marauder) units.

I run lvl 2s with Lore of Slaanesh in my 5 man fast cav. Rarely are they targetted to the point of me loosing my mages.

I see your point, not just convinced since they are fairly cheap and you want to be able to cast the spell for more than 2 rounds :)
