More Wood Elves die in this chapter, my friend.

Chapter 5: ... And into the fire.

The fight between elves and men began, starting with a grand sphere of fire appearing within the grasp of the Arbiter, before fizzling away, and out of existance from the intervention of the elf witch. Haggiroth charged foward ito the elves, with their swords already drawn. The large man span around in a frenzy, using blade and fist at the same time. His hand clenched the neck of a nearby by pointy-ears before shoving him foward and releasing his grasp, knocking the man backwards into some of his allies, sending them into a protesting heap on the floor. He span around the elvish weapon in his hands, creating a horizontal cut neatly in the flesh of some of one of the elves, the keen blade easily tearing through the weak armour like a rhinox through gnoblars. He released the grip that one hand had on the blade, charging foward an impaling another unfortunate soul. Haggiroth followed such a technique with flicking the opponent off his sword, sending him back into another man. Now well into the rank of the enemies, he span around, offered with attacks from several foes. But then, something very strange was took place. His legs were stuck fast to the ground! He could lift them a single inch, let alone step foward. He began to parry the crude attacks offered by the weak, fleshy elves, snarling with frustration that his back was completely vunerable, for some very odd reason! He could not move at all! He offered a glance to his feet, discovering that roots were wrapped around them, their grip tight. The witch's magic! He turned his head, to see the elves who once made the jumbled mass on the floor, now up and attacking him. He was about to prepare for the worse when something flashed.

Finally, a fireball was thrown blasting the group of five elves behind him into nothing but ash, one of the elf's daggers was sent flying into Haggiroth's back, piercing his shoulder. He would let out a loud yell from the shrapnel, wincing with pain. But at least he was now free from his bonds, even with his back singed from the attack as well. The elves were obviously starting to have their doubts, a few of them already running for the trees. Haggiroth charged into the frey once more, hacking off heads as limbs as he went, four elves falling to his weapon and six more to another fireball before a cloud of arrows suddenly swooped down from the air, several missing and several hitting, a few piercing his armour while the rest didn't reach his flesh. Looks like the Lord finally joined the battle. The Wood Elf witch began another spell to bind Haggiroth to the floor so that her captain could deliver the finishing blow as he lay there, but she never finished it. A sheet of flame suddenly consumed her, sending her to her screaming doom into the trees. The forest king was also hit by it, but he managed to hold his own, despite being badly burnt. This was more than enough for any remaining elves, who instantly panicked and ran. Slowly, the wounded man stood up while the elderly wizard wiped sweat from his clammy face. The two wounded warriors began to circle each other, and yet again, the Arbiter would let the boy face this threat alone, testing him. Haggiroth gritted his teeth, glancing at the old man.
"Arbiter, what are you doing?! destroy him!" The elder of the two companions shook head as they stood under the burning canopy of the trees, stalking off into the shadows. The entire glade was filled with flame, and the chuckles of the Forest Lord.
"Well, where will you be without your sorcerer, boy?" The elf suddenly ran foward raggedly, sword raised to slash down deep into the body of Haggiroth. The human snarled.
"Over your grave!"

The fight began. A badly burnt elf against a pin cushion of a chaos warrior. Both lightly armoured, both with the same weapons. Or so it seemed. When the sword swooped down to bisect the body of Haggiroth, it came down with unnatural speed, even for an elf it seemed. No mortal could attack so fast. Haggiroth only had enough time to raise his sword and initiate a parry, before even more of the elf's attacks rained down on his, blow after furious blow. It was a miracle his blade didn;t snap from the impact. Finally, the human saw a breach in the defence of the elf, lunging foward in an attempt to skewer his stomach. The elf easily curved lilthly to the side and replied in an attempt to pierce the heart of Haggiroth but he failed in such a tactic, only the thick, metal shoulder-plate stopping the sword from piercing any flesh as the man ducked. But then, the Forest Lord would deliver a harsh kick to the torso of the young barbarian, knocking his winded, contorted form to the floor. The elf laughed haughtily.
"Fool. You fight well against common-folk but against being of your own status, you are now match." With that, the elf raised his sword, more than ready to stick Haggiroth like a pig before suddenly, the human would twist his body around and punc his elven sword into the left leg of his foe. The elf let out a scream, his hands coming down to clutch the wound. Haggiroth would grab the fool's sword hand, before thrusting its blade deep into the stomach of the enemy. Blood and stomach acid mingled on the floor as the elf collapsed on top of Haggiroth, both of them gripping the magical sword of the elf king. Neither of them moved as the cavern and the glade slowly began to collapse, smoke filling the air.

And suddenly, the Arbiter emerged, running to the body and checking the heart rate of his companion... Beating slowly. He was still alive. Good. he checked the elf's... The same, except fainter. In disgust, he would dig the tip of his staff deep into the temple of the elf, creating a massive cavity. Good. He was dead now. Relenquishing the elf's grip on his sword, he began to drag Haggiroth away to tend to him and heal him. The man was lucky he survived. Softly, the old man croaked a few words:
"You are nearly ready, Slaughterer. There is only one more test..." And with that, the odd pair left the glade, burning trees collapsing. The court of one of the last wood elven bastions of the north has fallen.

So far he has only killed about 8 elves and a minotaur, and about 2 in this battle. Not to mention that he has very brittle ribs since that fight with the minotaur. Meanwhile, look at the Arbiter. About 10 beastmen and 14 elves, none in the current battle. Also, the Rhinox was only managed to be killed because ti didn't see him. If he was seen, he would be run down like a bug.

Great story. I can't have anything bad to say about a story where elves are dying :D.

Looking forward to the next part.

Good written story, interesting to read. But I do feel that this guy is really powerful, maybe a little too powerful, taking care of a woodelf lord without any magical items himself sounds too good to be true, guess we´ll get to know just how powerful this guy is eventually.
You had a few misspellings aswell, but that happens to everyone.

Well, if the Forest Lord had anything more than the Hail of Doom Arrows and the Spirit Sword, he should have won easily. But then again, how are legends made? When people do legendary things. Oh, and there were two things that made him win: Enemy's confidence, and his lack of control. Anyone who can't stop themselves from grasping the wound of adagger that only dug into shallow flesh on the foot is a wimp.

And so you know, he is only known as the Forest Lord because he is the General. He would have the stats of a 'commander' or whatever the wood elves call their melle heroes, otherwise. Haggiroth would have the stats of an exalted champion, except with heavy armour, not Chaos. Might post what his stats will be like when the story is finished sometime.

One more thing. Count how many times the Arbiter saved him. One, when he was a teenager. Two, when he was faced with the minotaur and beasmen. Three, when they were captured. Four, when his feet were bound on the floor. Five, when he was carried away. Four times in a day and night.

The Arbiter must surly have a really good reason for keeping the Haggiroth alive. And Haggiroth must surly have a strong will to not just kill the Arbiter.

But then again, companion that don't like eaother is usually more fun and intressting to read about.
