This is a little something I whipped up explaining the background on Kallos Mjöllnur. I wrote it kind of quick, so if there are a lot of mistakes or if things just ramble, sorry. Kallos Mjöllnur was the son of the chieftain Vitharr of the Yggdraasi tribe. At the time of his birth, the tribe was very small, consisting of only a few hamlets, in an area dominated by the Aeslings and Sarls. Upon reaching maturity, Kallos joined his father’s war band as a marauder. One night, several years later, before a great battle, Kallos was feasting with his comrades in the mead hall. Suddenly, he fell to the ground screaming in great agony. He heard a voice whispering in his ear. “Tomorrow, you shall perform great feats in my name. Show me that you are worthy of the favor I am about to give you.” When he rose, the mark of Tzeentch had been seared into the flesh of his chest and palms. Though he could not control it, Kallos felt the winds of magic whirling around him. The tribesmen around him gave a howl of elation. If the Changer had favored one of their number, they would surely be victorious in the upcoming battle. It was true. In the morning, Vitharr Mjöllnur led the Yggdraasi against an army of the Sarls. For the Yggdraasi, losing this battle could mean their subjugation by the Sarls. The battle was long, and many died on both sides. At an important juncture in the battle, however, Vitharr was struck down by a Sarl warrior, causing the Yggdraasi around him to falter. Seeing this, Kallos quickly ran over, decapitated the Sarl, and retrieved his father’s sword, Jormunrek. After rallying his clansmen, Kallos rampaged through the Sarl lines killing Sarls with every swing. Soon, Kallos reached the Sarl general, and issued him a challenge, which was quickly accepted. The challenge did not last long, as Kallos, who was touched by Tzeentch, was able to sense the general’s every move, a split-second before they occurred. With an unnatural howl, Kallos swung Jormunrek with all his might. The ancient blade hit the Sarl in the side, just below the bottom rib, and cleft him in twain. Seeing their general so quickly defeated, the remaining Sarls quitted the field of battle in a rout. Kallos slowly walked back to the body of his father, knelt next to him, and swore to both avenge his death, and lead the tribe to greatness. With the demise of the venerable Vitharr, Kallos became chieftain of the Yggdraasi. Over the following years, Kallos would fulfill his promise. Under his leadership, the Yggdraasi attained greatness mainly at the expense of the Sarls. During this time, Kallos studied the winds of magic with great fervor, becoming a great sorcerer as well as a great warrior. Kallos led his ever increasing war band into battle after battle, slaying countless foes with the sword Jormunrek, all for the glory of the mighty Tzeentch. Thanks for reading. If it seems way too unfeasible or something please tell me as I'm not really sure what is or is not. |
