itsuperslug: The problem the LD7, you need to put a character into the unit. Or have your general sit next to them. Heck you might need your BSB with in 12 inches as well, for re-rolls. Because the army can not win combat by itself. There is way to make the unit work pretty well. Throw in two hard to kill Tz Exalted Hero w/Chaos Steed into the unit. Now the unit uses the Hero combat punch, this unit now can hold up anything. GoC Edited by GeneralofChaos42, Feb 1 2012, 11:49 PM.

Yeah, I use a 30 man tar-pit (would use a bigger one, but I can't stand painting marauders). They do tend to lose combat and run away, as GeneralofChaos said. You don't have to lose by much for them to lose the roll and start heading for the hills. |

good point about LD, might have to be led by hero (maybe BSB) with crown of command (or if BSB then banner of discipline). |

If you just want them as a tarpit, do you need the Tzeentch and shields? 40 shields would buy 10 naked Marauders instead, and Slaanesh instead of Tzeentch removes any psychology threat. 50 Marauders take 30 casualties to be down to size 20. 40 5+ ward Marauders, against the same casualties, are also size 20. If you start smaller than 40 vs 50, I think the naked Slaanesh are definitely better. Maybe by size 40 Tzeentch and shields make sense, but if you lose some to shooting first, sheer size is still better. Edited by David L, Feb 2 2012, 12:44 AM.

I am a huge fan of this unit. Its an excellent place to bunker a BSB. The pass rate on Ldr 8 rerolling is something like 92%. With shields and Tz the unit gets a 5+ parry which is amazing. You can literally throw this unit against anything and it should be Steadfast for a while as long as you keep it away from forests and its big enough to start with. 8-10 ranks to start with is good. Line the unit up with a building or something impassable on one of its flanks and you should be golden. |
