Khorne hates everyone and everything, even his own followers, and doesn't care whose blood it is that quenches his thirst, whose flesh it is that feeds his hunger, or whose skulls are added to his throne, so long as blood is spilt, flesh is torn, and skulls are collected. Slaanesh, on the other hand, loves his followers in ways that a mortal cannot even begin to imagine to love another mortal. Love, of course, in the sense of a sexual relationship. Though Slaaneshi warriors will take a perverse satisfaction in killing, it won't be borne from hatred or bloodlust, but from their own pursuit of eternal pleasure, which in itself will please Slaanesh. I've been on the verge of collecting a Slaaneshi army for a while, and one of my mates is a devout Khorne collector. We've been considering making a duals army based on this. The Gods are fickle, their minds chaotic. Even two armies made up of forces from the same God may fight in the Chaos Wastes, as every battle that goes on there between daemonic legions represents the internal debates that go on within the Gods' sentience. So there is no right or wrong in making a Chaos combination, for the very definition of Chaos allows for anything to happen. |

as you said animosity to the one who seeks destruction ie nurgle. think of the victims of khorne as evolutionary dead ends to be destroyed in the ultimate darwinian environment...battle. tzeentch hates weakness more than any other only allowing the mightiest warrior wages to have his gifts. intelligence is simply not enough for the lord of change. |

Yet Tzeencht must also despise Khorne for his lack of finesse, especially as I'm sure Khorne's armies have ruined many of Tzeenchts intricate plots due to his hot-headed nature. Undivided all the way!!! |

have you read liber chotica: tzeentch? the part where it talks about the cults of tzeentch in the empire? and how slaaneshi and khornate warbands have been seen cooperating the the forces of tzeentch? Such is the mastery and manipulation of the chosen of tzeentch that the nature of khorne can be taken into account and manipulated to suit the lord of change. |

Of course he can manipulate him, that doesn't mean he don't despise him. And maybe the Khornates don't know theyr'e being manipulated? |

He hates Khorne for him not co-operating with him in his schemes, not all the Khornates are easy to trick. |

tzeentch isn't a co-ordinator he is a manipulator the victims of his manipulations don't know they are being manipulated. If they were easy to control it wouldn't be a task worthy of the master manipulators but could be done but the minions of renald. |

Lusts for Destuction, Thats sounds like Nurgle to me, not Khorne. If you had said, lusts for war and deat thaen id be more inclined to agree with you. Plus this is all covered in the Chaos Codex 40k. Similar concepts as mentioned here and explained fully. |

Warrior of the Chamber

This is a very interesting thread! Love all the fluff here. Being an avid slannesh collector and player, I was most tickled by the arguments found here. Back when I started, i thought like most people do: slannesh hates ugly nurgle and vice versa, khorne hates the magic loving tzeentch. This is probably because of the white dwarf in which GW printed official rules for chaos warband battles similar to mordheim. In it, if you played a champion with a mark of the gods you would get bonus experience for killing a champion of a particular other god. I figured this "other god" would have been the true rival to the follower, it would only make sense. Anyways, slannesh got bonus points for killing nurgle, nurgle bonus points for killing slannesh, tzeentch got bonus points for killing khorne, and khorne got bonus points for killing tzeentch. However, this post has had some points that made a heck of a lot of sense and now it seems that maybe there is no RIGHT answer. Khorne hates magical casting above all things since it is done from a distance, and charishes bloodlust, face to face combat, and slaughter above all things. But how does slannesh not please khorne is some trivial way? they still march to battle, they still spill blood, and in any case slannesh followers usually perfect the art of killing to the point it's a work of art, making it as gory and painful as possible to extract their twisted perception of "pleasure" on their victims. However, I can also see where khorne wouldn't mind tzeentch as much as slannesh because although they are magically gifted creatures who don't revel in honorable hand to hand combat all the time they are still mighty warriors almost every bit as potent as a warrior of khorne. Maybe what we should be concerned with is which gods mind each other the least, since it's hard to distinguish which gods hate each other the most. Here's my thoughts: Slannesh<----->Tzeentch Nurgle<----->Khorne |

Yeah Slaanesh & Tzeentch would of course work better than say Khorne & Tzeentch & definitely better than Tzeentch & Nurgle. But I did want to say that in the booklet that came w. White dwarf, w. the full rules for chaos warbands, it clearly says that Khorne gets bonuses from killing Slaanesh (& the other way around), same w. Nurgle & tzeentch, donīt remember the articles though if they did write wrong in those or not (canīt bother to find them, theyīre in the basement somewhere). |

Slaanesh dosn't stand for beauty, he stands for the destruction of human nature. I think that khain is the missing link inside the pointed star between Khorne and Slaanesh, just as the Horned rat stands between Nurgle and Tzeentch. Next time you go to your local GW, look through the Chaos marines codex, as it goes into alot more depth about the God's oppositions. I think it all still applies to WHFB. |

slaanesh doesn't stand for beauty it (he and she) stands for self indulgence hedonism and self destruction (rock'n'roll, sex and drugs in that order). according to some khaine is khorne in an elvish guise but if you read the eldar 40k codex (new one i think) it says something about it that i can't remember. as to the booklet that came with white dwarf was it path to glory? in that as i recall tzeentch vs nurgle and slaanesh vs khorne did apply though slaanesh got the hellscream ability which caused all magic users to miscast or take a wound. |

They're wrong, and the 40k universe is entirely seperate from the WHFB universe. Khaine is similar to Khorne, but the two are seperate warp entities due to the very nature of the Ayther. End of story. |

Actually Fingol, in old fantasy fluff, as recent as the racial overviews at the starting of 6th Ed, Khaine and Khorne were one and the same. Even should they be different entities now (and nowhere in fantasy fluff does it say that they are), the worship of Khaine is bound to give power to Khorne anyways since it fuels rage, hate, and bloodshed. Personally I think of Khaine as a splinter of the larger being that is Khorne. After all, if you are worshipping war, murder, and bloodshed, then you are worshipping the emotions that birthed and empowers the Blood God, whatever you may call him. Add in the fact that the cults of Khaine and Slannesh are diametrically opposed and the similarities are staggering. The gods of Chaos are known by many names across many lands after all. |
