The other races are springing into action on this: The dwarfs have hired the ogres as mercenaries, and are attempted to form alliances with the high elves (who arent taking it well), the empire (who arent taking it that well either), and the Asrai (who knows?)...

I think again the campaign will mostly be about getting good fluf- err, background written and posted.

I haven't read much about stories around the Nemesis Crown yet, but it certainly looks like something I'd like to take part in ;) I'll have to get those WDs and read what's official..
Now, it seems the most fluffy armies to us are Marauder tribes and Beastmen, am I right? For my part, if I decide to join, I'll go with my Marauder army, as I'm busy painting a new Mortal army (which is pretty lame, as I thought about making an Undivided Beast army from Drakwald last night, and that would fit this campaign superb <_< ) But I'll get more involved as I get more information from the WD B)

Ok I think we should really start preparing for this campaign. According to the booklet the campaign starts on the 27th of June and ends on the 6th of August. I gotta say they are strange times. Over here Summer holidays don't really start until the end of July, so most of the campaign will be fought during school time, and most of the summer with nothing to do. Strange of GW.

Anyway, we gotta plan. What are our goals? I can only assume it's the same as everyone else's, retrieve the Nemesis Crown. But why? Why do we want this Crown? Do we want to give it to Archaon? Do we want it for some other Warlord? For the COTEC itself?

We should also start with our alliances. I'd imagine that the Daemons, Beasts and Chaos Dwarfs would join with us, afterall we're all Chaos. ediblespread has said that the Dwarfs have hired some Ogres. We should have a look to see if there's any more Ogres left for us to hire. No doubt there are. Perhaps some more Dogs of War players as well?

Anyway, come one COTEC, let's start our planning !!!!

As for Cotec fluff goals. Does anyone remember the goals we had during the Twilight Wars? I don't think they where ever truly nailed down, but our intro fluff showed how the Chamber got very interested in something small enough to fit into Lightbringers palm.

The idea was, if I remember correctly, that the item was a crystal, a small piece of the north pole gate. It was an artifact which could open up small semi-stable "hole" in reality, a hole which lead into the Chaos Realm much like the larger polar gates. The portals the crystal could create where of course very weak compared to the gates, but one could draw the winds of chaos through it to greatly boost the power of a sorcerer, or be used to call daemons down on the enemy. In Twilight War the goal was to capture the temple on the map, since it was said to contain more of the crystals.

At least that was my original idea, since I don't participate much I don't know if the idea changed after that. :P

Anyway, here is the idea.
Imagine that the Chamber, the actual place that is, does not exist in the physical world. It is an ancient and powerfull citadel in the Realm of Chaos itself. Brimming with power and mysteries, but difficult to get to and most of its power is therefor useless to its champions. But the lords of the Chamber are out to change that. They belive that with enough of the crystals, and with enough power, they could create a portal and drag the Chmaber itself into the physical world. They coul pull it fourth somewhere in the moutains (perhaps at the ruins of Brass Keep? ) and create a bastion of chaos dangerously close to the heart of the Empire. The Nemesis Crown, no doubt a powerfull magic item, could be a step along the way to preforming this great ritual. And that is why the chamber would go after it.

It would fit rather nicly into what we have done before (We did sacked Brass Keep during the Storm of Chaos after all, and when the war was over there was alot of fluff from Chamber people about retreating to its ruins. Who is to say that was not the Chambers real goal all along). It might also intrigue beast players since alot of beastmen live in those forests and would be greatly aided by the presence of such a place, corrupting and warping the surrounding area. Of course, GW would never make a change like that, so its better to say the Crown is just one step in the process.

Yes, I remember that. It was a nice little piece of fluff, LB, and one of the most popular on the whole Interforum Campaign forums... ;)

As for your fluff idea, it sounds quite good. Bearer's new Chamber background fits in nicely with the 'extra-dimensional' fortress-city that you describe. Manifesting it onto the ruins of Brass Keep (where a large number of SoC Chaos already inhabit) would be a worthy goal indeed. I'm doubtful of GW's willingness to incorporate it into their 'official' fluff, but hey - the Skaven got their Warp Hemisphere, so why can't COTEC get it's Citadel? All we'd need is massive fluff participation from our members.

I would write fluff, but have no idea what its all about... a taste of my talents for you all (ignore the actual setting, I just skimmed the idea of a fortress in the chaos realms and went with it.)

A fortress, like no other. Rising out of the looming fog, it sparkles with golden wonder. Light plays over its many spires, throwing multi-coloured shadows onto the courtyard. A fortress so mighty that, if it existed in the mortal realm, it could never be overthrown. But it does not exist in the corporeal realm. Well, not exactly. It is a one in a billion phenomena; a small spot in reality that is in neither the realms of mortals nor gods. It is located entirely on its own plane of existence, alone, isolated. At least, isolated until now. For it has been drawn to the attention of those it spent so long hiding from. The Dark Four.

The reason for their interest? Within the heart of the citadel lie four small crystals. They are nothing remarkable; dull, grey and lifeless. Yet, within them they hold a power greater than that of any chaos god, perhaps a power greater than that of the Old Ones themselves. With these crystals, it could just be possible to rip apart the fabric of the mortal realm; to tear it like it was torn all those years ago, when the portals collapsed. And through this tear could march an army of chaos.

Of course, the fortress was built for exactly that purpose; to deny the power of the crystals to those who would misuse them. A hundred wards and traps scatter it, and the very fact that the fortress exists on a separate plane gives it protection. Even so, the Four have worked out how to summon enough power to breach the barrier, to send one champion through to try and steal the crystals. But first, they have to decide who their champion is. And with chaos, these things are always decided in blood.

#######

Alphaeus ducked as a blade whirled over his head, narrowly skimming his long hair. Barely registering this new opponent, he launched a stream of pure magic, blasting the newcomer’s head off his shoulder’s. Alphaeus was already half way across the arena before the headless body hit the ground, one more among a pile of the slain. Through a gap in the fighting he spotted his target; Netsach, champion of Khorne. The champion was typical of Khorne – large, muscular, and wielding a large axe (rather well, Alphaeus noted, judging by the dozen or so bodies which surrounded him.) Hacking aside a Slaneeshi warrior who got in his way, Alphaeus forged forward to confront his rival.

Netsach was enjoying himself. Again and again the champions of the lesser gods threw themselves at him, and each time he cut them down, each corpse an offering to his god. Flexing his muscles he lifted his latest prey into the air, swinging his axe round for the killing blow. The axe bit only air as a blast of magic hurled through the air, dissolving Netsach’s victim into nothingness. The warrior looked round, enraged, then smiled as he saw the source of the attack.

“Alphaeus,” he stated, his voice thundering out over the arena, “So called ‘champion’ of your pathetic God of change. Come to meet your death, have you?”

Alphaeus merely smiled. A quick glance round the arena told him all he needed to know; he and Netsach were the last two left in the arena. The victor of this fight would be chosen to go onto the next round. The loser would be chosen only for death. Gathering the winds of chaos around him, he summoned a globe of darkness and threw it at Netsach. As it spun through the air it expanded and changed shape, becoming a spear. Smiling, the warrior turned and let it strike him in the chest. There was a crack, and the spear exploded, throwing up a cloud of smoke. Coughing, Alphaeus twirled his hand and a light breeze sprang up, clearing the smoke. As it cleared, he snorted at the sight in front of him.

The Khornate warrior was still standing, a soft smile on his lips. Theatrically he tapped the red breastplate that he wore.

“A little present from my patron God. Makes me totally immune to your cowardly magics. So, this fight is just you versus me, blade to blade. A true test of skill. Though, without your magic, I doubt it will last long.”

Ignoring his opponent, Alphaeus leapt forward, his long-sword chopping the air in front of him. Netsach laughed and swung his axe sideways, the blade humming though the air. It cleaved into the charging warrior, burying itself deep into his side. Alphaeus blanched, and fell to the ground, coughing blood. Then, he disappeared. Natsach frowned; something was wrong. Suddenly a whispery voice spoke in his ear.

“Ah, but my dim-witted friend, you forget one thing,” the voice laughed, “I may not be able to harm you with my magic, but I can still use it to aid me. Have you never heard of an illusion?”

Finally realisation hit Natsach, but it was far too late; even as his mind began processing the information a blade erupted from his chest, smashing through his enchanted armour as though it was glass. As the world went black, Natsach managed to whimper out a final curse.

“There will be other, Champion of Tzeentch. There will be others…”

Looking down in disgust at the corpse lying at his feet, Alphaeus wrenched his blade out of its back, and wiped it in a handful of robe. Ignoring the screaming crowd, Alphaeus left the arena. There were many more enemies to overcome before he could be the champion, and none would be as easy as that fool.

My brothers of darkness, I believe that we should attack the Orcs, to avenge the fallen Everchoosen and gain his favour by defeating the feeble Orc Lord Grimgor. Through this we can also gain the favour of our darker gods. Through this we can achieve victory.

So I finally got my hands on the booklet, apparently the 3 major races is Empire, Greenskins & Dwarfs (but other races can win in the end).
Apparently BOC are only after getting the drakwald forest for themselves, while the mortals don´t care much of the Crown, but are eager to shed blood & see the crown as some kind of bonus.

No mention of daemons at all....

So who are we going to ally with & who will we be against??

Imo Beasts, Daemons & Dwarves of Chaos are obvious, perhaps skaven as well, but who will our main opponent be?
Greenskins (revenge, not that most Chaos players care about the SOC fluff & there is no mention of SoC even having happened in the booklet, it is as if it never happened), Empire (South weaklings have always been our #1 opponent) or dwarves (have always been allied w. Empire, let us divide them).

We will need a few ambassadors to get out to the other forums after we´ve decided these things.

Maybe it's only me that read this another way than it's meaning, but are you saying that theese races will be our opponents?

Anyway, I think that our mainopponents should be Empire and Dwarfs, and then just spill the blood of the rest we meet.. The Greenskins should also get a few beatings (only for the fluff)
Our allies should be the Skaven, Daemons and Beasts..

To be honest, if things goes as they have done previously, I think that the Greenskins will see us as their number one enemy. Although I hope I'm wrong.

Allying with the Beasts and Daemons should be easy enough. We're all Chaos, and we have three of their largest sites in the Chaos Star... ;)

We should do our best to get the Skaven on our side. If we can present a united 'evil' front against the Greenkins, Empire, and Dwarves, we'll have a much better chance of actually doing anything. Considering this, perhaps we should think about the Undead (both varieties) as well? Mannfreid von Carstein didn't really do much during SoC, and I'm sure the Vamps wouldn't mind having some allies.

Whatever we decide, we need to get ambassadors out ASAP. Time is running out, and things need to be organized before Nemesis starts.

Good luck with that. They've already allied themselves. With the O&G.
