Big unit of grave guard with Banner of The Barrows, led by a tooled up wight lord (Sword of kings +cursed sheild/gem of blood). Nasty, nasty unit. Hits anything on 3+, has good saves, killing blow (the bane of chaos champions, especially the wight lord), and fear (thus autobreaking). I try and avoid it for most of the game and only engage it if I can hit it with overwhelming force.

Tyrant with that damn great weapon that does d6 wounds. You can't kill him in one turn (insane toughness and wounds) and when he strikes back (in a challenge), he does so many wounds that you don't stand a chance (overkill and all)...And if you don't accept the challenge...the nasty brute once annihilated my whole unit of minos in 4 strikes! <_<

Treemens.

People go on and on how you should "tie them up", combos to kill them etc etc, but neither just isn't effective. Even if I get a great charge off on one with khorne chosen knights, they still won't die in one round. In fact, he probably will decimate/kill the unit infront of him too before his time is coming (from another unit no less, so he always makes his points back!).

And you can't avoid it. I want those vicotry points, and avoiding it, heh, it will strangle every light unit I've and turn tables in the victory points department.

A dreaded foe, I think GW made some mistake here (T5 would have been reasonable).

As i have seen the rules for the new White Dwarf special mini, him and a unit ironbreakers ^_^ Imagine this :unit strength 3, hates green skins

white dwarf has lords stats a helm that lets all fleeing dwarves auto rally if within 12" even if under 25% strength, a 1+ save and a 4+ ward, magic resistance 3 and an axe that givce shim s6 rereoll fail to hits and to wounds and the enemy must reroll passes armour saving throws

the shield bearers cant be targeted but have their own attacks

bugman has 5 s4 attacks i4

gotrex has 4 attacks, i4, his axe auto wounds, no save and d3 wounds (d6 wounds if deamon or dragon)

the shield is "the of the ancients" any missile attack (from arrow, magic or war machine) that hits the model is at half strength. the runs on the shield of the ancient cant be destroyed by any means

at the start of each turn roll a dice to see which hero is in charge:

1-2 bugman, they do nothing as bugman passes round the ale, cant move but regains all lost wounds
3-4 white dwarf, unit shield bearer as normal
5-6 gotrex, so upeset at not finding his death yet he move the shield bearer 12" towards the most expensive enemy unit, if he hits anything he counts as charging

The shield also cannot be negated nor can ANY ITEM THE THREESOME ARE CARRYING. (So yes they do get to use their awesome weapons against lord kroak.)

In a challenge they fight like a lord on shield.

Yes they are unbreakable.

ANY unit they join becomes unbreakable.

Also you only roll for their special at the start of the movement phase, but not if they are in close combat.

Keep in mind that they are US3 so they are immune to killing blow.

nuff said...

Yea gods! What and incredible pointsink...... A tough unit to be sure.... but spending those points on getting several smaller units of knights would be scarier.....

At Whister: Where in the heck did you find those rules? Are they official GW or just some silly thing someone wrote up?

Got them from another forum but i would'nt worry too much , i can't trust the source.Anyway the model will be for sale on the 28 and 29 of this month together with the next white dwarf. The rules should also be in that very WD.It's gonna cost 20 euro and is limited to 300 models.I know "my" store will have one so it's gonna be a real Battle royale to get one.I say again , I cannot say if any of this is true, but i guess we will see soon enough :D . BTW the speculated points cost for that monster is 1000 pts.

That would suffer soooo hard vs TK. Dual SSC smiting, yay, byebye point sink!

I dread a 5x5 Temple Guard block containing a 2nd Generation Slann with the banner that makes them cause fear. Renders them next to unbreakable...

I dread tooled up Bretonnian lances, they can smash through anything & even if you are the one to charge, that nasty lord & BSB will kill your chargers.

Anything big and nasty that can fly.

So hard to deal with in a chaos army if you dont have one of your own.

Dude have you ever considered using something like trolls, minotaurs or dragon ogres against them (Khorne minotaurs really do make a nasty mess out of them)

I think for me the worst unit i have ever come across was a unit knights of the white wolf led by Grandmaster and wizard with van horsemans (but again minos rear charging make sort work of them!)

On the big unit of Knights, why would anyone do that when they could just have 2 units led by exalted ging twice as many dispel dice anyways!

This is a Cylon. They look way, way, way cooler in BSG
I dread an army consisting of 975 goblins and a single boss.
In 3 units.

Actually I've had a fair bit of success using a pair of chariots(which can't be KBed) VS them after whittling them down a little with spellfire (minos don't feature in my main army).

Don't get me wrong, I've never lost because of this unit, probably because I treat it with the utmost respect, it's just what I have the most trouble with amonst the things I fight regularly. Heck, just getting my tzeentch units to charge the bedamned thing is a challenge in and of itself..... darned yellow spine syndrome.....
