I have been insanely busy for the last month, so I haven't had time to keep up with any of the topics here/post pretty much at all, but I am grabbing a free 5 minutes to ask a question I have been wondering lately: Is it a doable idea to work up/convert/play with a DoW list from the 2004 chronicles? I really like the idea of a flexible background, and especially just having units like "Light cavalry" and "heavy cavalry" plus pikeman are sweet! So what do you guys think? School ends in 2 weeks, and then I will be able to really get back to posting here. |

It can work, yes, but GW is currently moving away from DoW (said they wanted to change the way you hired them) so who knows how long the list will be official... |

Just for playing house games the legality shouldn't be an issue for me. I guess my main question is how well do the lists actually function, if anyone has any experience with them. |

I take that as a no. The only reason I ask is because I was working on possibly converting my chaos list to a DoW list due to the number of house-rule units I ended up having. I changed my mind however, so nevermind! |

Just for the record the advantage of a DoW list is essentially the huge array of different units they can field, whilst the disadvantage is the fact that for their points most of these units are inferior to equivalent other armies have. DoW do have some very nice units, for example pikemen are hideous to fight against, especially if mounted. |

:ph43r: DoW can be very powerful and very successful, Dogs won a GT a little while ago. I however haven't had much success with them though...but I think that is just me :( |

A guy at my club used to play DoW. Unfortunately, he wasn't the brightest character so lost a lot. I can see how a DoW army can be used effectively though. Several blocks of pikemen supported by crossbows and light cavalry, a RoR thrown in here and there. You have a huge amount of variety and can do almost anything with the list. If you think you're interested, do it! |

Its a very cool list to be sure, but I figure with my current army, the models don't really fit the DoW list at all.... It seems like pretty much the most flexible list in the game though |
