I'm quite likely to go to to the UK gamesday this year and was wondering whether people find it worth it, what's best about it etc. |

I haven't been to Games Day in the UK, but I did go to the games day in Baltimore a few years ago. It was a fun experience to do once as there are a lot of displays of upcoming releases and a lot of gaming boards around. I don't think I will go back as they tend to be similar year after year. So if you haven't been it is worth it to check one out. |

Well seeing as how it's one of the few days a year that all my wargaming buddies get together, it usually is worth it. Looking at all the painting entries is cool, although can get annoying as it's particularly crowded. Also, seeing all the preview stuff is good to see in real life, as opposed to just on warseer. The highlight is usually the games tables, where there are loads of really good ideas and fun scenerios to play, so definitely get yourself stuck into at least one of those. My only reservations are that it never seems to last very long, finishing sort of mid-afternoon time and the Golden Daemon awards are always very anti-climatic, especially as the screens don't show all the details of the winners. I went two years ago and hated it, far to crowded. However as they had moved to hall 1 I decided to go this year and it was great.Much better with the extra room as didn't have to fight to get around. Actually managed to get a look at all the golden daemon stuff. Bring and battle is good, but you need to get there early as it gets packed, shame they don't do a complete hall for it. |

I've been two years in a row now and this year i'd seen most of the stuff. The first year its great cos everythings new but then afterwards you've already seen the forgeworld stuff, old games etc so theres much less to see. The thing that made this years fun was that a different forum i'm a member of was allowed 3 tables in the corner and it was great to meet them all for a change. If you haven't been before you get a good group then its good fun. Not something i'd do every year. |
