So I have been thinking about my fluff list and this is what I have come up with. I am not asking for advice on the list itself (although I will keep suggestions in mind) Instead I am asking for tactical advice. If you were running this list how would you deploy, what would you use each unit for, ect. So without further procrastination here is my list. Lord Prophet of the Storm Sorcerer lord, lvl 4, lore of heavens, talisman of endurance, infernal puppet. Heros Rider of the Tempest Sorcerer, lvl 2, MoT, Disc of Tzeentch, 3rd eye, Talisman of Preservation Core Cult of the Storm 14x Marauders, MoT, sheilds, light armour, musician, standard. (sorcerer lord in here) Warriors Blessed by Thunder 20x Warriors of Chaos, MoN, halberds, sheilds, musician, standard, razor standard. Warriors Blessed by Lightning 20x Warriors of Chaos, MoT, sheilds, musician, standard. Special Children of Krakanrok 6x Dragon Ogres, great weapons Rare Karek Thunder Eater Dragon Ogre Shaggoth, great weapon (havent come up with a title yet) Hell cannon Once again this wasnt written to be an optomal list nut suggestions are appreciated. Do you think this list is playable? Or will every and anything just walk all over it? I am willing to reconsider anything in the list except the dragon ogres and the shaggoth |

The list is definitely playable, your Heavens mage can sit in the middle of the field throwing buffs around, whilst your disk rider goes and flickering fires anything on the backline. Dragon Ogres and the Shaggoth are a faster than your infantry, so I'd stick them on a flank. |

So my show finally ended and I had a chance to try my list. I won much to my surprise and have now tried revising my list to make it work even better. The mvp of the game was either the lvl 4 wizard of heavens (chain lightning is amazing) or oddly enough the Dragon Ogre Shaggoth. My opponent kept trying to shoot it and the dice were just not on his side. 2 bolt throwers a turn but he never wounded... So my Shaggoth got into CC with full wounds and did great. I will try to explain why I changed what I did as I go through the list. Lords Sorcerer Lord LVL 4 Heavens, Infernal Puppet, Talisman of preservation Heroes Chaos Sorcerer LVL 2 Mark of Tzeentch, Disc of Tzeentch, Charmed shield, talisman of endurance. Exalted Hero BSB Mark of tzeentch shield, 6+ ward talisman (I missed having a banner of rage on the Nurgle unit so I had to get a BSB in the unit) Core 19 marauders of slaanesh, shields, Light Armour. (More bodies to take wounds. Also I had a very close panic test after my wizard had a miscast so I think that immune to panic is better then a mediocre ward save.) 20x Warriors MoT, Shields, Musician, Standard, Banner of Eternal Flame 19x Warriors MoN, Shields, Halberds, Standard, Musician, Banner of Rage. (5 more attacks is too good to pass up especialy when its cheeper then the other option.) 5x Warhounds 5x Warhounds Special 6x Dragon Ogres with Greatweapons Rare Dragon Ogre Shaggoth with Greatweapon. The big difference is the BSB and lack of a hell cannon. The hell cannon has not been doing well for me recently. I just keep scattering off target and it just sucks up points right now. I get some pretty solid range support from my dual wizards so I don't think I will miss it too much. Finally I am not sure if I should flip the talismans on the two wizards... Do you guys think that two 4+s are better then a 5+ and a 3+? Curious to see what you guys think. Edited by Tekik, Mar 9 2012, 05:06 AM.

You could also go with the golden eye of tzeentch on the Lv2 since im sure you don't want him in combat, tops him off with a 3+ ward vs all shooting and magic missiles. If your looking for more bodies in the marauder unit, then i would drop one of the warriors from the second block. 19 isn't that much of a difference between 18 and it translates into like 3 more marauders. You could swap the banner of rage off the nurgle unit and give them khonre with banner of swiftness so they are quick enough to keep up with your monsters. Combined on one flank with the ogres and shaggoth, they could roll pretty much anything due in large part because now you you have 3 fast moving units that he has to decide which to target, making sure one or possibly two of them hit home with full wounds. Also, this might be expensive, but you could throw the book of secrets and dispel scroll on the exalted to give you an extra dice in the magic phase and possible fireball or miasma thrower. |

You could also get rid of the marauders and make the points up easy and add a few models to your warrior units. I don't recomend putting a high point mage in a maraude unit unless they are 30+ strong as far as bunkers go. |

Admittedly, I've never run a Shaggoth with a great weapon. Does strength 8 tend to be more useful than that extra attack? I second harbinger's advice on equipping the halberd warriors with the swift banner. That unit of warriors can make the difference in a fast moving and very heavy hitting flank along with your dragon ogres and shaggoth. Even a dwarfy or empire army loaded with ranged weapons will have an aweful time trying to shoot all of them down. Best case scenario, you end up with either an almost full warriors or dragon ogres accompanied by that shaggoth to roll up one of his flanks as your other warriors unit hits the front. Thanks. Some how I missed the swiftness banner suggestion. Thats a really good idea and I think I will give it a shot. The str 8 has allowed him to devour even the best armoured cav I have come across and with the warhounds screening I usualy get the charge so no lances for them :) 8 str dropes a 1+ to a 6+. I think the extra hand weapon is probably better but I love the idea of my shaggoth weilding an ax where the handle is wide as a tree trunk. Also you nailed the list idea on the head. the hope is you can't kill it all before it gets to you. The goal is to get atleast 1 unit of warriors and either the Drafon Ogres or the shaggoth into CC at around full strength. |

@ harbinger I agree it seems risky throwing the mage in that small of a unit seems dangerous but I have yet to loose it in a game. My opponents so far havent had the time/recorces to devote much to taking the unit out and this list isnt super magic reliant. Magic is mainly for war machine and small unit control w/ the damage spells from both wizards. |

Gotcha, if your experience shows the unit is reliable then I'm not gonna knock it. |
