vs HE; What should i take?

Ive got a 2500 piont battle vs HE tomorrow and ive got some pionts left over.
What should i take...

Scylla and a chariot or

3 dragon ogres.

I'd push for the Dragon Ogres, but it really depends on what else you've got. Chariots are always good against High Elf infantry, but not so good against Star Dragons. DOgres, on the other hand, are medium against High Elf infantry but much better against Star Dragons.

In other words, where does your army lack now?

I think it depends on the rest of your army. If you are fielding mostly a fast army (M6 or 7) I think Dragon ogers if u have alot of troops on foot then charriot and spwn ( are specal chars allowed ? ) cos they have troble keeping up othere wise.

But the charriot is well worth it agent HE do to impact hits if u manage to charge ;)

I would go with a Chariot and two Spawn instead of Scyla.

Sorcerer lord- MoT on disc.

3 Exalted heros- MoN. (1 is BSB)

17 Chaos warriors- MoN, shields.

17 Chaos warriors- MoN, great weapons.

6 Marauder horsemen- Flails, Throwing axes. X2

Shaggoth- Great weapon.

So what do you think i should use with this army list?
(and has anyone used throwing axes before, are they any good?)

What kind of eq are you giving to your characters? Without knowing what you have left to spend, it's hard to give any ideas as to what you should add.

As to the question from the original post, after seeing all the foot sloggers you have, I'd go w/ the Chariot and, like Godless said, 2 Spawn in place of Scyla...more wounds and more attacks. Also, you don't really need to worry about the extra movement that Scyla has since you are a predominantly infantry force.

If I was playing the army, I might even make one of those Exalted w/ MoN a Sorc just for the ability to do some sniping.

See, your army is suffering from all your eggs in one basket syndrome. You have too few units.

Taking a Sorcerer Lord without even a single Sorcerer to back him up is pointless, even more so against an army that gets +1 to dispel.

You really need more units. The Chaos Warriors only need to be between 12 and 15 in size, and you are going to need more fast stuff. the real problem is most of the points are gone into souped up characters, but none of them are really that outstanding. I don't see the point really in having three Exalteds, they all do the same thing. You would be better off dropping two of them, taking a Sorcerer, and getting more Hounds and Horsemen. And with the points left over, why jump to chariots and dragon ogres when you can get fear causing knights?

One quick thing...your Sorc Lord is illegal: You have 2 Talismans. You'll have to pick between the Collar or the Eye.

I dont really know how this plans on playing with magic is to be honest, you have a big number of points in a sorcerer lord who will have little or no impact unless you roll ir on the gateway and even that depends on your luck in rolling it. He also dosent really add anything in the way of defense if he goes magic heavy. For exampe if he uses a mage or two with an archmage with the book of hoeth and cjhhooses lore of metal, one or two spirit of the forges later and your warrior units will be destroyed. If you want to get some magic of use another mage or two, perhaps with Mark of Nurgle to keep your theme and to draw scrolls and dice with defalt spell. At least this plan is slightly more reliable. As for what you should add i would go for the chariot and two spawn option as you have nothing to guard your rear or flanks unless you put your shaggoth out there.

Just finished having the battle, i lost but only just, it was 2287 to 1937.

I know alot of you didnt think much of my Sorcerer lord but he did fantastic, he killed more than the rest of my army combined.
In the end i equiped him with-
MoT
Disc
Bloodcurdling Roar
Rod of Torment (rolled double 6 with this twice!)
Golden eye of Tzeentch
Talismen of Protection

He killed 16 White Lions, 7 Swordmaster, 9 Spearmen, 14 Bowmen and a Wizard Lord on a egale! :D

The spell Treason of Tzeentch is f%$king great!

I was also very happy with the Marauder Horsemen with throwing axes, has anyone used axes before? because they work wounders with fast cav.

All in all i think i needed to drop one Hero and add another unit just like you lot suggested :)

Good job on the draw (GM is right). But just so you know, the build is still illegal, Golden eye of Tzeentch and Talisman of Protection are both tallies. I would swap Talisman of Protection for enchanted shield.
