G'day, Looking at dusting off the Warriors with a Tzeentch theme, so wanted some feedback on this list. Thoughts would be great. Straight up, I know it might need a BSB, but not sure what to drop to fit it, so all thoughts appreciated. Also, the Knights Bus has worked well but at 14 strong. Hoping 12 strong won't make much difference. Very nice list. As you said, a BSB is definitely needed. The back up sorc could be dropped (a BSB with book could do the same thing..ish) or 2 of the knights. I don't often play 2500pts, but I know that at 2000-2400 pts, the warriors work well as 18 man units. I've found that at 24, the extra losses from template weapons/magic balances out the extra staying power in combat. I know it goes against the theme, but if you're not putting your sorc lord on a disc, try a couple of games using lore of heavens, its another under-rated one. Really happy to see a list that isn't cookie cutter, chosenstar, 100-man marauder units....etc. And much love for the great schemer! :D |

I'm interested in this statement; I am gonna try a lone foot caster for a while and was tossing up lores to use between heavens, shadow and tzeentch. I admit I haven't used heavens much at all before. Is it really that good for complimenting a WoC army? |

Yup. We've got infantry that are demons in combat, but when boosted by something like harmonic convergence (re-roll 1s for hits, wounds, and saving throws) it really ramps it up. Comet is fantastic for clearing out gun-lines. The push spell is a bit meh.... |

Heavens does look pretty cool, but I'm chasing that +5 to cast and a chance to steal enemy spells. If I can get lore of Life at +5 to casts, it's happy days :) Thanks for the feedback so far. I've updated the list with a BSB as a bit of a multi purpose guy. Flys around with the BSB, shooting attacks, and can enter combat if needed. You could also try combining the two units of warriors into 1 brick of 30 and giving them the blasted standard. Yes your unit is bigger but its going to roll stuff with combat res and the 4+ war against shooting usually bounces most artillery and templates. Plus is demoralizing to your enemy to see that many warriors in one unit. The points should level out seeing as how your dropping the points for another mark and the musician and banner. You could also play with giving them halberds. The strength 5 on Int 5 infantry can really hurt. If you did that, you could also drop the iron curse amulet and give the Lv4 an enchanted shield. Gives him a 2+/3+ that can frustrate alot of people trying to score an easy kill on a caster. |

I like that suggestion, thanks :) I don't actually own a lot of marauder models, so I've re-jigged the list a little and replaced them with Warriors, the idea being to chuck the Characters in the bigger unit, and if someone really wants to shoot up the other unit (a nice easy target), it keeps everything else safe. Have thought about the Halberds, but the trade of +1 strength for +1 armour and 5+ parry seems pretty good for -1 points. Khorne, no question Halberds, but Tzeentch I think straight Shields looks better on paper. Daemons with armour :rock: I've also gone back to the second caster instead of BSB - Just like the idea of being able to reach 48 inches with a Fireball since I can reroll panic anyway. I can always put him back in after play testing, so it's not a big deal. I'd rather I have some more hounds, but they seem to die anyway. Just a question, why aren't you running a champion in one of the chaos warrior units solely as a bodyguard for your sorcerer? If a combat lord catches him he's dead. Just something I saw you that you might want to mess with. And what is your rationale for using 12 knights in a block compared to two blocks of 6? |

I haven't had another look at the FAQ yet, but it didn't look like the champion does a whole lot. If a combat character comes for me, and he's not alone, the sorc could still die (and I don't say flat out dead, as he has plenty of saves). Anyway, I'll see what happens, I may have to get a champ or a disc. Thanks :) 12 Knights for the support attacks, I only have to declare 1 random charge instead of 2 and when they charge into combat, they can take a few loses from the back and the guys in the front can still do the chopping, if no-one dies at least I can cancel ranks, chance at +1 rank bonus and saves points n command and marks (and I can only have 1 banner or rage, might as well affect all the knights). I've thought about splitting them up, I'll consider it if this doesn't work. Even considered 3 units of 5 to support the blocks, dunno, will have to try a few things. Looks good. You've got some extra damage potential from the lore of fire. Plus threat management is out the window, you've got two bowel-loosening units that a lot of opponents will panic when they see. Holy poo! What do I shoot?!! |
