I am considering buying this model to be my new chaos dragon: Posted Image Has anyone used McFarlane Dragons? This one is 6 1/4 inches tall, which is a good two inches taller than my high elf dragons, so there's that concern. I also remember reading somewhere that they don't take paint very well, but it is already painted so I wouldn't have to worry about that right away. I could've sworn someone on this forum used this dragon for their army; hopefully they'll post. |

Haven't used one yet, but that is an awesome model and who ever said that bigger dragons are something to worry about? The only reason I don't have a dragon is because I've allways found the GW dragons are a bit small for such an epic and ancient creature |

You should take a look at this and the other dragons by McFarlane then... there are some really sweet ones and they are all around 6 inches tall. |

Looks cool to me. When you say it doesn't take paint well, do you mean it doesn't take primer well? This looks like a fun conversion project to me. :P |

What size base did you use? I've ordered one for my army (got if for $14 on ebay), and I figure his legs are clearly farther apart than 50mm. Is it against the rules to use a base size larger than the one prescribed? Also, it looks like you've put the rider on one of the heads with a saddle... I know I'll see in a couple of days if the base of the two heads is narrow enough to accompany a rider, I have a feeling it will not be. I'm thinking a howdah is in order. |

Usually using a bigger base gets you in trouble as it is rather central to the game. So yeah that's important IMHO. Sexy dragon though.... |

What about the Forge World greater daemons? Those are on substantially larger bases than their counterparts. |

Which is why no one I know uses them in a tournament. Sad as they really are awesome models... Or they put them on a smaller bases somehow... The issue is that Fantasy is a game based on the bases to a huge degree. In 40K(which is what the Forgeworld designs for usually, including those greater daemons) you can usually get away with a larger one to a degree, but it is harder in Fantasy |

I don't think your opponent would have that much of a problem getting extra attacks on your dragon. unless you were somehow taking advantage of this. |

Did you repaint the dragon or is that how it came? Look really cool. Also, did you add the additional head or is that already there? |

The model in question comes with two heads, but dgoer repainted his. Mine arrived a few days ago. It will fit on a 50mm base with its feet hanging off the edges. I personally don't have a problem with that as it will still be easier to rank up against him than the HE dragons from previous editions, as he does not enter the space in front of him much. |

Do the dragons not having any moving parts that would cause paint breaks afterwards by getting shifted through transit etc? |

They do have 'articulation points', but I'm going to make them stationary with superglue and cover the gaps with greenstuff before I paint him, so that shouldn't be a problem. |
